Why does no one talk about how much Benson clearly cares about his appearance? Like...
Randy: Shirt on, wrinkled as all fuck, too big, pants on, hat on. He's wearing the uniform.
Chris: Hat backwards, shirt unbuttoned. Clearly couldn't care less.
Jess: Just there to serve cunt in her fishnets. The shirt is technically on. Doing the bare minium of wearing the uniform.
Benson: Shirt on, buttoned, wrinkle free, tucked in. Sleeves cuffed. Everything fits nicely and has clearly been styled. Hair and facial hair are neat and maintained. Skin is fucking glowing somehow...
I know a gay coworker when I see one.
guys, kudou and yoichi knew eachother for two months. guys. yoichi didnt immediately die after being saved. i hope you guys know that.
oo okay long awaited rant about this episode bc im fired up im sorry. GOD does it feels so weirdly deliberate for the anime to cause this much confusion about the backstory whenever i think about it,
cus like. 1) making yoichi still be shoeless during the chase scene (when him having shoes during the chase was an indicator that the resistance gave it to him since afo took his away)
2.) not giving yoichi different outfits during afo and kudou’s simultaneous flashbacks
2.5) and just the poor handling of this scene in general. (which is unfortunate because its literally one of my favorite scenes in the whole manga.) keeping the lighting/mood damn near similar (when its clearly show yoichi was in a bright warmer room in kudou’s memory), omitting the warm drink kudou/bruce gave yoichi. this whole fucking scene was supposed to represent how differently afo and kudou treated yoichi ikdjdnrfioosucfufk!!!!!!!!
3.) making yoichi’s final line ‘the power to give and take […]’ be directed to afo when the manga INTENDED FOR IT TO BE AMBIGUOUS/DIRECTED TO BOTH AFO AND KUDOU!!!!! thats why its a close up to yoichi’s face in the manga bc we’re not meant to see his shirt therefore keeping it ambigous of which yoichi this was, because this yoichi is the yoichi both afo AND KUDOU saw despite their contradicting memories of him. oh my fucking god 😭😭
as someone said on twitter, its like they favored yoichi’s suffering/upping the misery factor while damn near stripping away the small rays of hope and how better yoichi was out of afo’s abusive clutches (omitting the shoes, the mug, excluding the two months clarification). sure, they reanimated the kdch rescue to a much more softer light, but i seriously wouldve preferred they executed the backstory faithfully than just recycling a scene we already saw.
i wanna say for lols that Someone in the animation team was possessed by afo’s spirit and went beyond portraying afo and yoichi’s relationship but purposely sabotaged kudou and yoichi’s, but the more logical conclusion is that the animation team just did a very poor job :/
mannn i seriously looked forward to this backstory like for 2 years, and while i didnt entirely hate it (i appreciated some parts of it) i am just So disappointed with how its handled, especially in regards to kudou and yoichi’s relationship. like deleting kudou revealing yoichi’s name scene from season 6 wasnt enough apparently.
There's something awfully uncomfortable and disgusting about the relationship between Yoichi and All For One (aka Zen Shigaraki).
Everytime a flashback or a scene is depicted of these two I can't help but physically writhe in my seat due to how uncanny grotesque scenes are.
The more we know of them as the audience the more upsetting the whole scene gets.
The manipulation that AFO carries through with the air of a man who definitely understands how viscerally invasive it is to force someone with a quirk without the verbal or physical consent is indisputably disgusting. He knows the effect he has on people and continues weaponize it.
And he enacts that very act on Yoichi whom he appropriately (or moreso, inappropriately) dubs his possession, as if it were a sign of grace from God's hand and not just plain weird.
His obsession went as far as him locking up Yoichi in a valt of all things... cus wtf man.
He hated Kudo so much for being the one to reach out to his brother, for "stealing" him away from AFO's clutch, that he decided to kill any person close to him by any capacity, child or woman.
Sometimes it surprises me to find people who don't see how downright incestuous AFO is.
The very fact that All For One must be passed down by consent, something which was denied between the confrontation of AFO and Yoichi initially is a big tell, additionally the fact that he kept his hand after killing him should've also been made clearer what his intentions are. Not to mention he clearly has a special hatred towards Kudo that is alike to what some characters feel towards a rival in love. And speaking of love let's not forget his whole "I love you" rant to Yoichi at the end of the series... like jeez he's such a creep. Calling him "mine" and shit like some prehistoric beast.
I hate the guy, but he's pretty interesting overall.
Can someone recommend me a fic where it's just Michael Afton whose changed his ways ( I don't want his character to be entirely changed, I am okay with time travel fics as well), and is taking care of his siblings as their sole caretaker, William is as evil as you want him. I don't mind, I just don't want redeemed or primarily good parent William Afton.
I want to see it focused on his relationships with people and his environment. I don't want it bulldozing through the events of the game.
I want it to be super 80s and 90s. Jeremike is also okay, but no ' x reader ' or female love interest.
I want to see him go to school and navigate it.
It can be canon compliant or a fix it I don't mind. I just want a rec pls 😭🥹
*edit* yall keep liking this post without giving me recs 😭 dawggg please 🙏
kissin kate barlow has the best villain origin story ever put to paper. if i fell in love with a sweet man who just wanted to sell onions and show of his sick carpentry skills and they killed him for being black i think i would also snap and kill everyone involved in the most ironic way possible.
If you don't care about how many people are currently dying and living in fear due to a COMPLETELY PREVENTABLE AND UNNECESSARY WAR, I will think less of you.
If you hate immigrants, I will think less of you.
If you demonize any female artist or actress for something they didn't even do or something that wasn't even bad while ignoring male artists who rape and assault people, I will think less of you. (i.e. the Chapelle Roan thing is the newest crap y'all fall for. A bitchass man tells lies, but is believed while the women involved tell you the truth. Be for fucking real.)
If you hate trans people, I will think less of you.
If you gonna go and watch the new Harry Potter show, I will think less of you.
Really, if you think you're woke and feminist, but truly you're just a radfem terf and harmful to the society with your views and all you do is hate on people who don't deserve it: I will think less of you.
Thankfully this is mostly a critique on TikTok fandom culture where some people act like the concept of agreeing with both sides is a crime worth sending a bitch into hell. Even the idea of liking a character despite their flaws seem so foreign to them. Sometimes these moral Olympics get out of hand especially when it seems that one group needs to entirely demonize another group entirely to make a point. Some of them fail to understand that these characters are those we've known for practically a day. I'm not even trying to invalidate whether or not you dislike a character, like you do you and your valid for feeling that way, but there's no need for spreading hate and threats online if your just regurgitating the same values you despise.
You hating Santos doesn't always has to mean your misogynistic you might simply not be a fan for those who immediately decide to be mean and be bully-like (which is something that has been addressed by other characters in the show ) but it also doesn't mean you should deny her empathy towards children and her fierce protection of them despite her vocal complaints of trying to deal with them (remember Baby Jane Doe), and with that same line of thinking, you are valid for not wanting to side with Langdon, after all, he stepped wayyyy out of line when dealing with Santos (which is also vocally expressed by other characters... do you see where I'm going with this?), not to mention he does get off quite easy due to being a male character but that doesn't mean people need to extremely disgusting about recovering addicts or addicts online at all especially when the person in question; Patrick Ball is a recovering addict, and in addition we need to acknowledge his empathy and friendship towards Mel and his steps trying to better himself. These are things that apply to all the characters in The Pitt, yeah, that includes Ogilvie, Robby, and Al Hashimi.
I'm not trying to dissuade conversations around uncomfortable topics... heck, I'm doing it myself, but I don't really think you're taking the moral high ground you think you're taking if it means normalizing bullying and hate towards certain groups of people.
Like I've said before this isn't me saying you can't hate or dislike a certain character but to exercise some level of caution when discussing such things because certain choices in your language and the way you handle it may genuinely seem disturbing.
I've seen people hate on addicts going through rehab suggesting that they don't deserve a second chance, that Santos is a monster with no redeeming qualities, that Robby should kill himself (which is... idk even know what to say to that), that Al Hashimi is just a bitch who doesn't know her place and she's all about AI even though her reasoning is sympathetic despite my personal opinion of not really supporting the use of it, I can still understand why she would, after all she wants to spend more time with family and less time charting, it would nice to see her battle the unethical nature of AI but I'd doubt we'd see it soon.
Even fucking Ogilvie has some qualities to him, he's still learning so im giving him sometime to come to the conclusion himself and learning under Mckay seems to be doing him good... you know the former addict Dr. Mckay?? Do you see how some arguments that dehumanize certain groups don't really work here. Some people say that the Pitt is too on the nose... I'm not surprised they have to be considering people genuinely don't understand the beauty of Intersectionality. I suggest more people genuinely take more comprehension classes i swear.
And speaking of Dr. Mckay I also want to bring attention to Dr Abbot as well... have you noticed how these characters seem pretty self actualized... that's because they've both experienced therapy and dealt with their ups and downs healthily. You notice the lack of misogyny from Abbot when working with his female colleagues whereas Robby's relationship with women especially women of color is far from palatable. These are parallel already addressed. Dr. Mckay literally has a positive character growth from the first season where she learns her mistakes.
Anyway enough fo my rant... I think you all get the picture... I just hope my girls Mohan, Javadi, Mel, and the rest of pitt are having a better time next episode (I doubt it)... also fuck ICE (the most unrealistic thing was those ICe agents bringing that poor woman, Pranita to the ER, I hope she's safe as well as her child).
It's been a while since I've talked about weak hero bit it seems that my disdain for the live action drama knows no depths cus even after ranting as far as i have I still have more to say. To be quite honest I think due to the way I've presented myself and where I stand in this discourse people probably think I might be a little mean spirited about the drama... well it's complicated... it's just that I am grateful we have a good quality drama but that's where my praises sort of end, it is definitely not a faithful adaptation and anyone that argues otherwise probably needs to rewatch and reread the media they are consuming.
For one... Sieun's character is not the Sieun from the webtoon. And I have stated this before but his motivations as a character is a genuine 180 in the drama. And maybe I might be a little bit radical for saying this but I'm genuinely confused with the message they are trying to push with drama Sieun.
Like I get it... but not really. Especially with the context that his character comes from a specific genre of webtoons published on Naver Webtoon that discusses the mentality of being the "bigger person" between a bully and victim relationship and how the bully never faces the consequences for their actions. So to fight this ideology a character that basically *bullies* the bully is made to be the center of the story--- the driving force if you will, to fight against the injustice we see in the real world. And Sieun is a character born from those sentiments... so yeah of course I despise the fact that they changed his motives to "not cross the line" as opposed to "fuck that shitty fucking line" sentiment from webtoon Sieun. I feel that it defeats the character's origin and kind of blatantly feels like "awwww but the violent bullies are the sad ones 😢 like it's okay that they almost murdered my friend but I shouldn't stoop down to that level" and it's not to say that there aren't obvious problems with that kinda thinking but that is a fact and Sieun isn't trying to kill them he's trying to let them taste their own medicine. Like he literally chills with them after, as long as they've learnt their lesson he doesn't fucking care.
And downplaying the bullying Beomsoek committed against Suho is so fucking aggravating to watch since his sympathizers have absolute zero fucking clue of what kind of guy he truly is. Like sure I did like that they added depth to his character but going as far as to say he was right and justified for his abuse??? I am so fucking confused, even in the context of the drama I genuinely don't see how it justifies him attempting to murder Suho twice???!!!
Not to mention guys but that fucker Beomsoek is literally homophobic... that's not even a headcanon by the way, it's not sub text either it is TEXT like literally... it was in a group chat ... like he texted and encouraged people to be homophobic about Sieun's and Suho's relationship.
Also I don't know how to say this but Sieun's personality in the drama is also wrong... because I've seen the way you guys portray him and like... yall do know that he's not antisocial right??? Cus he does talk with his friends and he smiles at them and shit like it is rare but that doesn't mean he's like mean-spirited towards them. He even smiled at Teddy Jin despite their history and willingly forgot that bro used to bully him.
Some of yall think he has no social skills at all, like guys he can talk to people he just chooses not to... he just doesn't talk to people that arebbullies or bystanders. And sometimes he even guves them grace like that ine sea weed head bully at him cram school that took his notebook and basically crumpled it, like he was still chill and didn't lay a hand on them he just showed them that he had certain authority when they started crossing the line with him... anyway that's the end of my ted talk and I wrote this shit in the middle of the night so I'll probably edit this when I get a full night's rest.
P.S sorryvfor how over the place this whole thing I'm not on my meds but I'll fix it later haha...
Guys i miss weak hero im not even saying that in jest, I might just reread the whole thing again.
Let me know if I'm wrong (I am being serious when I say so), and before we throw tomatoes at myself let me just preface that I am a bisexual woman but I really do want a discussion to see whether there is something that I've missed or not in my understanding and maybe see if whether through some of these discussions I'll gain a new perspective on the matter at hand.
Alright, with that out of the way, I'll get into it.
Is it just me or are most media that include certain sapphic pairings seem to fall flat due to bad writing?
It seems that whoever decides to write the relationship between the two characters seem to be falling under the same spell most do when writing heterosexual couples, where for one reason or another one character in the pair would be a well rounded character with flaws, good points, character growth etc., while the other character in the relationship seems to feel unfurnished and would be less of an actualized individual and more of a placemat if you catch my drift?
For one they seem to emphasize the sexuality of the character through so much exposition that when done well is dones well but lost of the time their writing focuses so much on who they are attracted to that their actual struggles and personality becomes a non priority variable when introducing them.
But this might have to do with how writers fail to write women in general. There seems to be confusion amongst them that we, the audience can't understand the character unless they pressure us with the absolute weight of pages and pages of exposition they've written out, explained all in one sitting by the character themselves, as I who views this clusterfuck of information hand out the writers a paper of F minus grade on their show-not-tell assignment.
Maybe it's the producers or whichever higher-ups that seem to fail in critical thinking category as do most people on the internet, but I feel that if they continue to write these character sapphic or not, they should be dealt with passion and care.
You cannot make me suddenly care about half hearted gay romance that you've decided to included in the story for a pat on the back by the LGBTQ+ community when in reality your shitty writing can't even hide behind the veil of the shipping culture in your fandom.
And why am I suddenly so passionate about these things? Well for one I don't want to keep seeing myself in characters of stories where they both end up dead or married to a cardboard cutout of a man with the personality of plain bread and I especially can't seem to find any characters to empathize with since most of you female characters either seem to only care about finding love or just seem to add nothing to the over arching story that they are a part of.
And I'm not talking about small hobbyists making their cute stories, I'm talking about people with teams, people writing storyboards, they have a budget and so on.
My issue is that because these stories depict women (who for some reason are seen as the enemy by the fandom for simply existing) also have poorly written character arcs especially when they are a part of a minority (in this case the LGBTQ+ community) which highlights them as the odd one out; the singular sandbag to kick the shit out ofcwhen the audience can't take take the writer's bullshit anymore... it just further traps the oblivious audience that these characters shouldn't be represented because they seem to "sully" the writing. When in fact it's the lousy act of thise in charge who can't seem to tell their arse from their mouth so they spew bullshit onto the paper and hope they can hide themselves of their flaws behind the success of their more popular male characters.
Anyway... let me know what you guys think... I seem to have alot of opinions about it.
Weak Hero - Wolf Keum Meta and Backstory Theory
I recently reread and caught up with this series; it's one of the two webtoons that I genuinely like. Anyway, having thoughts. Spoilers for up to chapter 227.
Hot take that Wolf Keum is actually very similar to Gray Yeon. He actually makes the connection himself while watching Gray fight Dongha: They both get serious tunnel vision when they're fighting.
But I don't think the parallels stop there. I'm not the first person to bring up the theory on Wolf's backstory, that he was formerly a victim of physical bullying, before the roles swapped when he started to retaliate. The main evidence that points towards this theory is that Wolf likes to block with his face... that is to say that he just doesn't block hits. He's a tank, and he's borderline unphased by getting pummeled. It's very possible that he has a history of receiving hits a lot, therefore building up a resilience to physical blows.
This is such a good an interesting take, it makes me even more curious about Wolf's backstory.
im in actual disbelief that this just happened while i was writing down this joke to remember later
drew some of my favorite characters in mspaint 🫶
I don't go here, but I just wanted to know why do some people right fanfiction based in the 80s and include things like texting and calling from outside when cellphones weren't existed/used until the late 90s and the fact that the term texting wouldn't have been used until around a little after 2005.
Like it does take you out of the fic because you notice things like that, especially when they included it alot in the plot. For example there is a murderer prowling about but they can conveniently text their friends on the sly to get help.
And so it does really remove a bit of the tension especially since they have a mode of communication they can use without depending on the landline.
But I hope people don't take this the wrong way. It's just very much a pet peeve. 💀
P.S I had to edit this cus I wrote it while high on medicaid and my spelling was atrocious 👍
Exactly I feel like the grinch 🙃 just ruining the fun, especially when the rest of the fic is so well written but then *boom!* motherfucker starts talking in gen-alpha lingo that would usually make even a gen-z wonder what the fuck they are talking about.
Like guys conputers existed. They would either email each other (depends on the year) or use bulletin board systems (BBS)
Okay... so am I freak for saying this? No! I'm not.
But can some people write more objectum romance stories about Hal and Dave that don't have egregious smut, but with alot of unresolved tension.
I don't know why I like shit like that, but while I do love the smut fics I want to see more fics where they don't physically engage in intercourse but instead every single scene is just laced thick with tension and while most readers know they can't fulfill their desires they are still content.
Please I beg can I have more fics where it's just the webtoon Eunjang gang, and guys if you are writing with the webtoon dynamicc do not tag the drama likewise drama dynamic fics do not tag the webtoon, I get confused as fuck.
Like I don't want to read about drama Suho in my webtoon setting, it makes me cry. I want my sweet and eccentric webtoon Suho with his fuckass Coma shirt.
And ones where they are the main ship cus there's just practically none.
Please I beg.
Also if this post seems rude and confusing as hell I'm sorry I have a migraine and I'm tryna deal with it. 😭😭😭
