This is my first coding assignment for my software engineering class that started today. It’s going to be a really good semester.
UPDATE: I got my grade back and
“100″
Since this post has gotten some attention, I feel like it’s worth mentioning that this was just the first half of the assignment.
The second half, which we weren’t made aware of until the day we were meant to turn this one in, was to trade USB drives with the person sitting next to us and MODIFY their “unreadable” code without getting any help from them.
This was to teach us two things:
1) In this field, you’ll spend more time working with code written by other people than you will writing original code from a blank slate. The people who wrote the original code will probably not be around to help you. Learning to read code is IMPORTANT, even if it seems unreadable.
2) There is a strong brotherhood/sisterhood among programmers and software engineers. Respect that bond when you’re writing code and documentation. In my professor’s words: “When you write code, pretend that the person who will have to maintain it after you’re gone is a homicidal maniac who knows where you live.”
This class and professor are incredible.
cozy challenge! 🍁🍂🍄
hey everyone, it's jay! a few weeks ago, i asked if anyone would be interested in an autumn/winter posting challenge and it looks like the answer is yes :)
within the studyblr community i feel like we're all working veryyy hard, even if it doesn't always feel like it, so it's often difficult to de-stress. academia has a tendency to demand constant productivity. for the challenge, i wanted to take advantage of the approaching colder seasons to take a step back and appreciate moments in which we feel comfortable, cozy and happy (as well as moments that look comfortable and cozy). calling this a challenge is maybe not the right word since this is supposed to be no pressure and all vibes 🍄
the challenge
starting date: 06.10.2025
ending date: 31.12.2025
content: contributions to this challenge can of course be study-related but they don't necessarily have to be (studying can also be cozy after all!). warm colours, dimmed lights, brown leaves, a homely atmosphere, hot drinks - those are just some suggestions what the photos could look like. more importantly, however, is that you 🫵🏼 feel comfortable, and maybe this could be seen as an opportunity to relax a bit. if wanted, captions can be added to the post (how did i feel/what did i do today etc). there should be no pressure to post every day or even every month!
tagging: i will be tracking the tag #cozychallenge and reblogging the posts!!
send me an ask if there are questions <3
inspiration
shout-out once again to @godricked who inspired me and from whom i stole this entire layout🫠 check out that blog for pretty (studyblr) posts!
tagging some more wonderful blogs and moots who have been inspiring me greatly!

No to flexibility, yes to plasticity! Interview with Catherine Malabou
Sometimes I get so angry at the state of academia that I go non-verbal and communicate in memes only.
I've rarely seen a more validating sentence in my entire life.

University really is about looking at the worst pdf known to man huh
the professor uploaded this sideways. I'm sparing you at least that bit

Student worker at closing during finals week: We’re definitely getting a lot of people in who you can tell have never come into the library before.

hey friends, admittedly i've been really shit at keeping up with studyblr lately and i've noticed that a lot of tracking tags/their blogs are not active anymore... so if you're an active studyblr and/or use tracking tags, could you please reblog this post so i can follow??
