This is a story about Kai being sucked into the movieverse and trying to find his way back home--all while navigating relationships with his family's dimensional counterparts. Oh, and he has to fight the mysterious, corrupting powers of the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu, which he accidentally took with him...yeah, getting back to his Ninjago is going to be a lot more difficult than he thought.

@nickelwick, I started this artwork in February when I had just finished, and it was so hard keeping this a secret. đđ€Ł I REALLY love how this art turned out, hehe!! I tried keeping the ninja look OG, but also like S11, since that's how you described them. :D

I'm writing through a translator! I've been looking for something to read for a long time (since January) and then I saw your miracle, it's truly a miracle! I read without stopping, forgetting about sleep (that was a mistake, I need to sleep) and by the end of reading, I had this picture spinning in my head, which I drew crookedly and quickly, it seems like it doesn't fit exactly into any of the scenes, but these are literally all my emotions after reading that I had nowhere to put and it has been looking at me for a long time and scolding me for not drawing it properly, hehe, I don't know if I'll finish it, because I really want to wish for something related to the fragment of your work itself, what would you like to see? Since Shogun: Becoming Kai's dragon powers come from the Source Dragons, it'd be hilarious if when the elemental powers are glitching, so does his dragon form...that's right, dragon body shenanigans here we come >:)

Do any of the movie ninja end up seperated or do they all find the monastery/series ninja relatively easy?
Ohhh I remember answering a similar question way, waaaay back when! Might as well dive into it again with some more concrete ideas:
Yes, the move ninja do get separated for as long as the show ninja are. Dragons Rising still happens, so as the show ninja find their friends throughout it so do the movie ninja. Let's see where the movie ninja end up, for fun!
Zane: I think it'd be hilarious if he went to the Never Realm, same as show Zane lol. But, instead of being an evil icy conqueror, he helps the people out! (And after the merge the time difference between realms does not exist.)
Nya: I would actually love if she'd lost her memory and got sent to the Administration too. Just imagine--her and show Jay become work partners, but both of them have a strange feeling that they're so close to finding what they're missing in each other...
Cole: Um, not really sure, but I could see him becoming a monk at the Cloud Kingdom and vibing lmao.
Jay: I could totally see him living in the Crossroads. It's a mix of all the realms, right? And it's the most "show Ninjago" location. He'd help the locals, fix their tech, all while researching clues to find his friends. Arin can't figure out why he reminds him so much of the missing lightning ninja though hehe.
Lloyd: Lowkey, it'd be cool if he ended up in Mysterium. Do I like Gandalaria? No, not really lol. You know what would be cool though? If she DIED and Lloyd had to take her place as that realm's guardian, learning magic and protecting that realm. It'd parallel show Lloyd's situation nicely.
Kai: Unfortunately, like show Kai, he gets sent to...not a great place. For him though, it's the Underworld! It's not as hard to survive as the land of Monsters, but remember, this dude is a ray of sunshine. And while Ash emerges from Monstrosity trying his best to act normal and happy...Kai does not.
And yeah! I think those would be cool situations for the movie ninja to end up in. What do you think? :D
Just realized we never got Wuâs reaction to Kai, did we? Idk if I asked this before but how would Wu react, or Garmadon
Sorry for getting to this late! You're right; we never see Wu's reaction or Garmadon's, for that matter. Now remember, Wu read the scrolls so he knows the secret of Forbidden Spinjitzu. After the initial joy of reuniting, he'd ask Kai, "You gave in to the power of the scroll, didn't you?" He would be slightly disappointed, but he'd be more proud that his student overcame it. I imagine the two of them would discuss Kai's dragon side a lot.
As for Garmadon...that's a tricky one. I'm going to favor how he was written in March of the Oni which was much better than his version in Crystalized (I wasn't a fan.) Since Garmadon is all Oni now, he would not be a fan of Kai. And since Kai already hates the guy for how he hurt Lloyd, that hate is multiplied exponentially due to his dragon side. Kai and movie Garm were more witty banter and teasing, but Kai and show Garmadon? They do not get along, and it's better to keep them out of the same room.
Kai: You stay away from Lloyd, you monster.
Garmadon: You say that as if he isn't an Oni himself, and that you don't pose a greater threat to him as a dragon than I do.

It was a regular day. or at least thats what Sora expected when Lloyd took Kai, Arin, and Riyu out for a mission. She was pretty bummed that she would be alone in the monastery, but it was at least a chance for peace and quiet.
As she walked through the monastery halls, when she passed Kai's room she stopped dead in her tracks. She slowly picked up something grey and shiny off of the floor.Â
Dragon scales?!
What were dragon scales doing outside of Kaiâs room? Was he toying around with a secret dragon in his room?!
She didnât want to just barge into Kaiâs room, especially with him being absent, but she wanted- no, needed to know the source of the dragon scales. She quickly opened the door and hitched a breath.
Nothing out of the ordinary. Just the same scales that she found littered across the floor, mostly near his bed.
Sora scoffed at herself for assuming the worst. Kai would never use a dragon as a lab rat.
Unlike them.
She shook her head and closed the door. These were probably just Riyuâs scales, he had been shedding them recently. She groaned at herself for being so sceptical. She just needed some tea and fresh air, thatâs it.

Sora had finally winded down as she sat against the monastery wall with a small cup of tea. She started to miss Arin and Riyu, despite them only being gone for less than half an hour. She sighed. Maybe this was a good time to take a nap, lying down in the sun.
Just as she was about to doze off, she heard something. something unmistakable.
the beating of wings.

âDid you know that the red ninja was a dragon-human hybrid?â Arin asked for what felt like the 20th time.
âArin. Dude. I know youâre a big ninja nerd or whatever,â Sora started, âBut dragon-human hybrids DONT exist. I would know. They tried mixing dragon DNA with human DNA once at the lab. It⊠didnât end well.â she finished with a sigh
âOh⊠sorry.â Arin apologized. âI just remembered reading a history book and it mentioned something like that. The red ninja apparently disappeared for 6 months to an undisclosed location, and when he returned, he was like- a dragon shapeshifter!â
âMost of the time history books donât get stuff right. and âundisclosed locationâ? please.â Sora said
âYou never know!â Arin argued. âItâs possible!â
Sora just sighed. âWhatever.â

Sora sat frozen in what felt like fear as she saw an unfamiliar dragon approaching the monastery. She wanted to hide but her feet felt frozen to the ground. She hadnât seen any dragons other than Riyu since she ran away, and she didnât know if this one was violent or not.
By the time the dragon had touched down right outside the monastery, Sora had managed to hide behind a pillar, staying out of sight but still being able to make out the features of the dragon. Itâs colors were almost royal. Bright red with golden accents across its body. She could tell it was most likely male by the spikes on its back and horn size, but why was it here?!
Apparently her hiding spot wasnât good enough, and the dragon turned its head to her, its golden eyes locking with hers. As it started to approach her, she fell back with a yelp, feebly scooting away from the creature, but before she knew it, its head was only a few feet away from her. It let out a low growl, but not a menacing one. it sounded almost⊠confused? The dragon looked down at its body, as if inspecting itself, and its eyes quickly widened.
âu-uhâŠâ Sora started as she slowly stood up but shrieked when the dragon started to glow brightly, temporarily blinding her.
Sora rubbed her eyes and groaned, but when she gathered the courage to open her eyes and face the dragon again, it was gone.
In its place wasâŠ
âKAI?!â Sora practically screamed.
It was the fire ninja alright, the only difference was his hair, which was usually gelled up, had fallen down across his shoulders.
Kai jumped when Sora yelled his name âSORA! FIRST MASTER YOU SCARED ME!â
âI SCARED YOU?â
âYea- oh wait you dont know do ya? Yeah im basically a dragon-hybrid-thingâ He said as it was no big deal. âhappened a whiiiillleeee ago. There was a staff and i had to go to school and i met myself and Garmadon was there and i swam in lava and then i grew wings and lloyd pushed me off his mech and then i turned full on dragon and almost destroyed a city and i bit a snake it did NOT taste good and then i met the first maste-â Kai kept talking, but to be frank, he lost Sora at âa dragon-hybrid-thing.â
âwoahwoahwoahWOAH.â Sora stammered, cutting Kai off mid-sentence. âSo all the stuff Arin said was in the history books was TRUE?â
âHistory? It wasnât THAT long ago it was just-â he started counting on his fingers-âeleven years ago? maybe twelve?â
âYou couldve told me about it though.â Sora snapped
âJeez- look kid, im sorry i spooked you. sometimes when im a dragon i kind of⊠forget im a dragon? does that make sense? I was planning on telling you eventually.â
Sora thought for a moment.
âWait so were those YOUR scales in the hallway? why were they grey if YOURE red?â
âoh yeah those. They turn grey when i shed them.â Kai said matter-of-factly.Â
All of the realms/multiverse merge into one universe :/
Your friends and family disappear in the chaos of the merging :(
The alternate version of your family that you've met once before is now in the same world as you and now you can swap embarrassing stories about your older brother to help ignore the worry >:)
HAHAA YES, this is definitely how the movie and show ninja would bond. I'd like to think they'd have a somewhat awkward relationship with each other before the Merge, but then after it, the ninja that do wind up together become really close (mostly due to talking about Ash.)
So, when Ash eventually finds his families again, imagine his surprise when they know every embarrassing story about him.
Can Kai leave Monstrosity with the Dragon powers or is he stuck due to the powers being absolte due to realms being one realm?
Kai's stuck because when he tried to leave the realm of monsters in dragon form, he was instantly attacked by other flying monsters/bigger monsters. We actually see this in the Monstrous Journey shorts--Daidan was grounded because of those weird bat creatures.
So yeah, being a dragon just attracts unwanted attention. That's why Kai has to be careful with how much he becomes one.
