SJM didn’t set up a potential mating bond rejection plotline FOR ELAIN TO ACCEPT THE MATING BOND.

SJM didn’t have Feyre say “let’s focus on helping one sister [Nesta] before we start on the other [Elain]” FOR THE NEXT BOOK TO BE ABOUT GWYN.

The next book is Elain’s, and we are going to see her reject the bond. We’re finally here 😭😭

A consistent problem that I feel still persists in the fandom, especially with newer readers is that they don't understand the timelines.

When they say that 'Elain wore Graysen's ring for a long time'...2 months isn't a long time.

"Azriel was still in love with Mor..."

"Why didn't Azriel ..."

"Why didn't Elain..."

Just to review:

Azriel met Elain, when she was human, in March.

She was Made in June.

The war took place in September.

Between June and September Azriel fell for Elain so hard, he was willing to DIE FOR HER.

Because he said 'I am getting her back' in September. That's three months. Supposedly when he was still madly in love with Mor.

Three months later, Elain was making him bespoke Solstice gifts and asking him to sit with her, where as he was bossing everyone around him and forbidding them from eating until she made herself pretty and took her place at the head of the table.

Azriel said nothing for 500 years to Mor about his feelings.

Azriel never inquired about Gwyn for two years.

Elain's been as indifferent towards Lucien as she was the day she was Made.

Azriel was sneaking into Hybern for Elain and giving her Truth Teller within 3 months.

Timelines matter.

Elriel Month | Peace and Quiet

There is such tenderness, intimacy, and safety when you can understand the person you love without words. For this prompt we imagined the relief that Azriel and Elain would feel as they fall into bed together at the end of the day after enjoying the extroverted company of the inner circle, so they can cling to each other for peace and quiet just like our High Lady foretold.

We were all so excited to get the opportunity to work with @kotikomori on this piece and she truly gave us a little peek into a slice of Elriel heaven!! We are so grateful @kotikomori! 💕💕

• Then Azriel, gently taking Elain's hand in his own, as if afraid his scars would hurt her.

• Azriel gently removed the gag from her mouth. "Are you hurt?" She shook her head, devouring the sight of him as if not quite believing it.

• He gently took her hand and pressed the hilt of the legendary blade into it. "It will serve you well."

• Especially as he gently said to my sister, "Happy Solstice." Elain turned from the snow falling in the darkness beyond and smiled slightly.

Azriel didn’t hesitate to face certain death to save Elain. And Elain—gagged, chained, and wrists burning with violet steel—still devoured the sight of him, as if she couldn’t quite believe he’d come for her.

This scene exemplifies the pull between these two, and how well they work in harmony. Even bound, Elain still fought alongside Azriel, slamming her foot into the hound’s face until it released him, keeping both Azriel and the innocent Briar alive. Azriel’s focus never wavered: get her out, get her to safety, no matter what it cost him.

Two souls moving in tandem, even through chaos. Light and dark. Strength and quiet ferocity. Theirs is a partnership born from trust, sacrifice, and a bond deeper than words.

Endlessly thankful to @northyme for capturing this heart-stopping Elriel moment so beautifully! Every update took our breath away, culminating in this stunning piece.
