We’ve been hanging on to a bunch of heat transfers since closing the shop in 2018, knowing at some point we’d find a way to make something good come from them... This was the first phrase I dreamed of printing - years before we found someone willing to screen print on used t-shirts (to be honest, I’d been on this mission since before we launched brick and mortar). It took on a life of its own after our friends at @monkeyinadryerscreenprinting taught us how to DIY: #NamasteMotherfucker quickly became the shop’s bestseller... It’s not that I had dreamed of disseminating vulgarities, as we all know they hold up best when used sparingly— my energy for this specific turn of phrase was part of our work to be helpful to others: having learned through experience that cursing can help with coping (and having since found countless studies to replicate these findings), I wanted to share the ‘getting through this with humor intact’ phrase that had been so crucial in my own healing (those who’ve been around for a while already know that the @shopjunket origin story is one of doing something radically different —and finding a richer, deeper way of living — after life as I had previously known it ended abruptly. A global pandemic has now thrown *most* of us into coping mode, perhaps none more (yet) than the good people of #NYC, so when @erikjkraus reached out to see if he could get one of our masks with this phrase on it (and as these wheels were already turning in Mpls), I knew it had to happen. This was the very first mask to be printed, now seeing use in NYC (here, on the Williamsburg bridge- thanks for posting this, Erik!). I haven’t added this print option to our swear masks on Etsy yet - figures it best to lead with slightly less in-your-face (on your face) options. What do you think? Should we add them? Our social media is a little haphazard at present, b/c 😷 organizing and COVID constraints, but when you get a message like the one @shanaliinc shared with us yesterday, we knew we had to pass it along (with permission, of course!). Summary sequence: 1. Last week, Shanali ordered some journaling materials from @shopjunket’s Etsy shop. 2. Also last week, @marijamajerle fulfilled order as usual, packaging in secondhand supplies (in this case, a record jacket). 3. Yesterday morning, Shanali, quarantined in NYC & entertaining her friends while #SocialDistancing, dressed up as #MamaCass to lip sync on @tiktok (umm, and is she a ringer, or what?!), and then, 4. Later that same day, our delivery showed up—in which record jacket?! #Coincidence or #Kismet, we are thrilled that she shared this with us - so that we could share it with you! (Also, yes- we’re fulfilling as many orders as our at-home inventory permits; purchases welcome @shopjunket.com or via Etsy!) “Hi Ms Julie, I received my order today and what a treat for this stay at home period. My friends and I have been helping each other out during the NYC quarantine by dressing up at home, today the theme was the 60’s - I kid you not.
