As a deaf person, this is the default question that non-signers ask me: "Can you read my lips?" Even if I shake my head no, the person has the tendency to continue speaking to me anyway. This is very frustrating for me and many other deaf/HoH individuals.

It's a fact that only 30-45% of the English language can be understood through lip reading. Even hearing people would not be able to lip-read with efficient accuracy, so please don't expect deaf/HoH people to be able to. Instead, ask, "What is the best way to communicate with you?"

Some other methods of communication include: writing with pen and paper, typing on your phone's note app, using a Video Interpreter during a call, or using a Transcriber app.

 I'm Britt, the face of this shop! I am a deaf lesbian with a love for animals and beautiful things. I created this shop to fashion representation for all of the sapphic peeps out there. 

So often there is pride gear and merch with rainbows and the typical queer experience, and I love that! However I really wanted something that was specifically for lesbians and sapphics, and our lesbian flag is so pretty I want to see it incorporated in... basically everything! Thus Sapphia was born.
