Presented by the Harvard Film Archive and Shochiku, in partnership with the Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies and the Japan Foundatio

I provided the introduction to the Harvard Film Archive's complete Yasujiro Ozu retrospective, presented by the HFA and Shochiku to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Ozu's birth and 60th anniversary of his death. I wrote the descriptions for most of the films as well.

The screenings are all in 35mm (including new prints), plus one 16mm short film. Along with screenings at the HFA there's a concurrent Ozu 120 series at Film Forum in NYC throughout June, but I also think watching Ozu's films from wherever you are would be very rewarding.
