Two smart boys.
Two very smartly dressed boys. Only difference is one wears long socks and the other wears little ankle socks. Back in the day boys would rather wear long socks I think
Being kept in short trousers is bad enough. But short trousers and open toe sandals as well. Bet that was not his choice. Would he have been teased by the other boys I wonder
Very smart. Short trousers always look much better worn with long socks. But the boy on the right has only got little ankle socks. One good thing about ankle socks is one does not have to worry about keeping ones socks pulled up. Boy in the middle needs to pull his socks up as the are all wrinkled.
Australian cub pack in 1982, with almost perfectly identical uniforms.
Tallest boy, shortest shorts
By this early 1990s parade. Only one cub flag barer was keeping to tradition. Shame.
Keeping the tradition and good for him. Proper length shorts as well.
Junior school prefects, Dorset 1970.
The boy seated on the right with his sandals and little ankle socks looks so cute. Being dressed that way should make him feel more humble, compared with the boy kneeling who has already graduated into wearing long trousers
Available in sizes 6 to 14 years.
Very smart
Traditionally dressed cubs on a day out.
Note the khaki/tan summer shorts rather than normal grey on some.
The boy sitting 2nd from the right has the right idea. Stripes on his socks matches his neck tie
How a well dressed cup pack should look
(if you ignore the boy without his cap and the different socks & shoes!)
I remember wearing white socks with my cub scout uniform like the two boys on the left
English singer Harry Styles at the Brit Awards in London, in February 2020. The shoes by Gucci provoked much press comment.
For a celebrity to wear those shoes especially with white socks is a real fashion faux pas. However I would wear them at any time. But then I an not a celebrity. And unfortunately I could not afford to by Gucci shoes anyway. But they are really lovely
Mother’s choice of wide-legged shorts to allow for growth.
Those type of shorts were not uncommon, although I am not too sure about the boy on the left. They are a bit baggy aren't they. But typical school uniform of the day. Shirt, tie, blazer and short trousers. Most boys would wear long thick socks, but at least one boy is wearing little ankle socks. At least he didn`t have to worry about keeping his socks pulled up
Les Petits Chasseurs à la Croix de Bois
They look a bit cold. They must be wearing some really short shorts. Like their white socks
A junior school sword dancing team; Merseyside in 1971 (wisely not trusted with real swords).
Like those double strap sandals worn by the blond haired boy standing with his little ankle socks
Old style cubs on parade.
Not sure if they are all tall for 10.5yo or if the adults beside them are shorter than normal. (adults at the back look taller but they are also on the pavement, not the road!)
The boy carrying the flag certainly looks quite tall. And just look at the length of those shorts. Very short indeed
Salesian College, a Catholic boarding school in Hampshire, 1959.
At a glance I thought the lad wearing shorts and sandals was me. Obviously not.
I did not go to this school. Uncanny.
We looked at some old photos and there is a slight resemblance.
Could have been me too. I always wore shorts and sandals
Lycée Buffon, Paris, 1949.
White ankle socks and sandals. Very cute
