Can I talk a bit more about the first kiss?

Because it is really one of the most beautiful first kiss I've ever seen on screen.

And I think it's in part because I can tap into both of their feelings and emotions so well (and this is all because Nic and Luke did such a splendid job).

For Pen, she is defeated. She thinks there is no way she is ever going to experience romance. So when she turns to Colin is a a desperate plea. And I do understand where she comes from. As someone who gave her first kiss at 23, I also had give up some hope before it happened. I didn't ask because I'm not so brave.

Because what people seems to think as pitiful, I see it as brave and vulnerable. She asks to Colin in his capacity as friend and because she trusts him to give her the best experience possible. There is 0 intention on Pen's part to view this as more than a favour.

And on Colin's part, it's shocking at first, but you can see in his eyes that it's not a yes/no question. It's more of a "how I do this without screwing up?" and "she deserve a first kiss for the ages" and while Pen is now a master in suppressing her feelings for him, for Colin it's the first time they come to the surface.

And when they do kiss, it's such a gorgeous moment. The little exhale Pen does when Colin touches. How many times must have her dream of this? Can you even begin to understand all those feelings that she kept inside for years, how much she was yearning for his touch?

And then, when they kiss and there is that moment of suspension in which they look into each other eyes and it's easy because it's them to go back for a second one. It's all instinct and it's so good. The little scrunch Colin does as it begins to sink in that this is what he was looking for.

And as I said, Pen is good at kissing but there is raw talent in those things, it can happen, so to me that fact that she is so good at kissing comes most from the fact that's... Colin. Of course she knows how to kiss him, she is done many times before even though it was in her mind.

And they look like they meant to be kissing for the rest of their days, don't they?

As a late bloomer that didn’t have her first kiss until 23 that I asked for, I so felt this scene! It literally played on a nonstop loop for me. I shared this with a male friend and he even mentioned feeling the emotions of the actors. He too, is a late bloomer. I wasn’t prepared for how relatable this season was going to be for me and so many others.

I also love this analysis of this scene! It was done so beautifully. Honestly one of the best first kisses I’ve ever seen 💛💙
