Kai leaves you because he thinks he's not good enough for you. 😊
“Aaaaargh!” Kai hit his head for what must have been the tenth time today. “Get out of me!” He tensed all his muscles and stared at his reflection in the mirror. “I did the merge because I wanted power, not because I wanted some stupid conscience.”
The mirrored glass felt cold against his forehead and he closed his eyes.
Everything had seemed so simple.
Do the merge.
Get all the power.
Get his revenge.
Do whatever the hell he wanted.
But now there was all of a sudden some voice inside his head questioning every decision. Every time he flicked his wrist to do something cool, that voice in his head told him all the things that were wrong with it.
He was hurting people
What was the ultimate goal?
Did revenge really taste this sweet?
The voice had crossed a line however when it had started whispering that it would be better if he would leave you, that he was ruining your life, that he was nothing but a bad influence. One day he would get in serious trouble and he would drag you with him.
An enemy could use you to ruin him.
You could be with him, at the wrong time, at the wrong place.
He could lose you.
“Come on!” Kai felt salted tears rolling down his cheeks. He had never cried in his life, not before the merge, but it seemed that his eyes were making up for lost time now whenever they could. “You have to agree that (y/n) is the best thing that ever happened to me. It’s the only actual good thing in my life!”
Which was precisely why the voice was repeating, over and over, that he didn’t deserve you, that you were too good for him.
“I’m not a bad person!” Kai shook his head. “They made me a bad person! They told me I was a monster, an abomination. They never hugged me or kissed me. They didn’t read me bedtime stories.” He shrugged. “What does a boy have to do? If I wanted attention, I had to ask for it. And the only way I could get it was to live up to their expectations. That’s not my fault.”
But the blood was on his hands. The voice reminded him that no shower could ever wash him clean, that no hand sanitizer could ever rid his hands of all those stains and memories. And instead of crawling and apologizing for it, he was adding more and more crimes to his resume day after day.
“I won’t leave.” He stepped back, but he felt wobbly and fell down on the bed. “I can’t live without (y/n).”
And yet, he stood up again and opened the closet. No matter how much he tried to fight it, his hands grabbed the suitcase and started filling it up. It didn’t even take long to grab everything. He didn’t have anything that had any sentimental worth.
Apart from you.
“I hate this stupid merge.” He lifted the suitcase from the bed and walked down the stairs. “I hate you, Luke Parker. And don’t think for one moment that I won’t try everything to get rid of you. As soon as I can.” He put the suitcase down to put his jacket on and then he lifted it back up while walking out the door. “(Y/n) is mine. You can make me leave now, but I’ll be back.”
The voice in his head chuckled.
Maybe you would be happy that he was finally gone. Maybe you wouldn’t want him back anymore. Maybe you would figure out that this was the one good thing Kai Parker had ever done.
For anyone.
For you.
