Oh also while I'm saying jojo things I need to say somewhere... (Idk if this is a spoiler? It's about the music for the first part of the sbr anime. I'm just gonna do a read more just in case)

Yugo Kanno's ability to play with motif (I think it's motif? I'm bad at music stuff) is fucking incredible. The ability to somehow recall a unique aspect of every previous part's main themes without directly copying them in one single piece and having it all flow so well is wild.

I've always really loved how he works with thematic coherence between the parts. Like there are specific elements that every part's main theme has that feels like it's in them all, but then you realize they're not actually like the same progression of notes or anything.

BUT each part's theme also has a super specific unique element that makes it stand out from the others (most notably for me are like the intense guitar type breakdown thing followed by weird improv sounding jazz piano for part 4, and of course the weird pause-stutter-piano bit in part 5 that everyone knows from the viral sound) and like THOSE are the parts I felt like I heard reference to toward the end of the episode? But they weren't the exact same thing, it's just..motif I think.

Idk I don't know much about music on a technical level at all. But this shit is so good. It's so cool and neat and impressive and I love Yugo Kanno we don't appreciate him enough.

I keep doing my data analysis assignments about bugs despite being in a masters program for library science. And my poor professor is so nice, he always tells me how unique and interesting my dataset is, but I know he's like "why tf does this guy keep making me look at bug data"

I've had him for two different data analytics classes, and when I took the first one I had literally never done any coding ever and it turned out that the whole class was done using R and I kept emailing him the dumbest questions. Then I made him look at dozens of pages of bug data for two classes worth of shit.

Next semester is my last one and I have him for a library IT fundamentals class and I feel like he's probably sobbing because he knows I'm gonna find a way to make it about bugs.
