The six clones line back up at the wall, watching Dekapan write in a notepad and Iyami giving Dekapan instructions. As Dekapan finishes writing down the info of each clone, Iyami grabs Yoshimatsuâs hand and starts dragging him forward.
âCome, Yoshimatsu! You and your brothers will accompany me to-â
Iyami is quickly interrupted by Dekapan pulling Yoshimatsu back and away from him.
âHoeh! Not just yet, dasu! Theyâre still naked and are very vulnerable to becoming ill from the germs outside!â
âItâs not like theyâre babies, zansu. Just look at them.â
Iyami gestures to the other five as Dekapan brings Yoshimatsu back to his place. They are very much adult men.
âThey essentially are, dasu! They were just created! We have to let them adjust to their environment, dasu. AlthoughâŠâ Dekapan steps back a bit, stroking his chin in thought. âWhere do we put them, dasu?â
A loud call from Dayon can be heard across the room as he opens the door to the barely used basement.
âAh, good idea, dasu!â
Dekapan waddles over to the basement door with Dayon following behind him and shutting the door, leaving Iyami with the naked cloned sextuplets standing near a wall. All six of them stare at the older man in front of them. Iyami walks up to them to get a good look.
âUgh, look at you all, zansu⊠You arenât fit at all! Going outside like that?â
Iyami looks around and grabs some scissors from a nearby desk.
âThese will do, zansu!â
He proclaimed as he grabbed Suimatsu by the arm, pulling him close and aiming the scissors at his hair. With a few snips here and there, Suimatsuâs hair just about looks like a regular Matsuno! Well⊠Almost.
âAh.â
Suimatsu mutters as he looks at his uneven fringe cut. He seems unfazed.
âDamn it, zansu! Must have angled it wrongâŠâ
Iyami lets go of Suimatsu, letting him walk back to his position in line. Iyami scans the rest of them, choosing who the next victim shall be.
âYou, zansu.â
Iyami says before grabbing Kanashimatsuâs hand, which is followed by a loud cry.
âNo! Let me go!â
Kanashimatsu cries as he wriggles in Iyamiâs grasp. Iyami angles his scissors just right to make a clean cut on his bangs, and a bit of his back hair. Kanashimatsuâs eyes flood with tears as Iyami calls that work good enough, and lets him walk back to his spot in line. Iyami looks to Yoshimatsu, playing with his hair a bit. Just before Iyami can grab him, heâs quickly stopped by Yoshimatsu gripping his wrist.
âDonât even think about it.â
Yoshimatsu warns in a dull, monotone voice. Iyami chuckles nervously as he pulls himself away, grabbing Goyomatsu in the process.
Eventually, all six have received an impromptu haircut, just in time for the professorâs return. Dekapan steps out from the basement, holding the door open.
âHoeh! Everythingâs ready, dasu!â
He walks up to the Iyami, about to ask him what heâs been doing, before he turns to see the sextuplet clones fully groomed and clothed in hospital gowns.
âUhyohyohyo~!â Iyami laughs. âDonât they look perfect, zansu?â
Iyami seems quite proud of his handiwork, despite just⊠borrowing a pair of scissors and six gowns from some bin in Dekapanâs lab.
âSoon enough, theyâll be ready to follow me around in the streets of Akatsuka Ward, zansu!â
Dekapan stares blankly at Iyami as Dayon ushers the clones down to the basement.
âHoehâŠâ
All six are led down to the basement, which looks similar to a day room. There are a few plants in the corners of the room, a couch, a whiteboard, some bookshelves, and a table in the middle. There is also what seems to be a chemistry table. Out of curiosity, Daikimatsu walks over to take a closer look, only to bump into an invisible barrier.
âDr. Dekapan says you canât touch that, dayon!â
Dayon warns a little too late as Daikimatsu rubs his forehead.
âSo⊠Weâre staying down here?â
Kanashimatsu asks, fidgeting with his now shorter hair.
âSeems like it.â
Suimatsu replies, blowing a bit of hair away from his eyes.
âFor how long?â
âUntil you guys are ready to go outside, dayon!â
âAnd when will we be ready?â
Goyomatsu asks. It is met with a shrug from Dayon before he turns to walk back up the stairs. The six are left there once again, just as confused as they were earlier.
Before Goyomatsu could even comment on it, a loud âUhyo~!â can be heard from up the stairs. Iyami walks down, files folders in hand.
âAlright, NEETs! You six are to be the new sextuplets, zansu. To do that, you guysâll have to get used to your roles, zansu.â
Iyami hands each of them their own folders, all of them color coded accordingly. Upon opening his, Yoshimatsu sees a paper consisting of a list of Osomatsuâs behaviors, and a description of him. Beside that are pictures of him, ranging from his face and some candid photos taken from far away. Yoshimatsu furrows his eyebrows in concern.
âIn each folder is a checklist of things you should do, zansu. Me expects you to perfect them as soon as possible, zansu!â
â...Sorry.â Shimatsu starts as he closes his folder back up, âI am not going to act like a cutesy pansy boy. Iâd rather die.â
âSheeh!!â Iyami strikes his signature pose, âYou have no choice, zansu! Itâs either that or punishment for you!â
Iyami hits Shimatsu on the head, making him yell out in pain.
âYour intensive training starts in a few days, zansu. Get your act together, zansu!â
The six hesitate before nodding their heads, reluctantly accepting the instructions given to them. Iyami smiles in satisfaction before heading back up the stairs and walking out, shutting the door behind him. The six look around at their new living quarters. A ratty futon, a small, splintering wooden table, a rather dusty-looking sofa, a closet with nothing in it, a cramped bathroom, a bookshelf, and a wall-mounted whiteboard⊠It looked about as sad as a starter apartment. Well, at least it was cozy. Kinda.

It was a dreary day, the sky was clouded and the rainfall was heavy. It was no day to be caught outside, but for a certain washed-up, self-proclaimed Frenchman, there was no other option.
â...Me was supposed to win, it was my idea! Those lousy sextupletsâŠâ
There, under a bridge, with nothing but a cardboard box to call home, was Iyami. He stewed over his latest failure as he attempted to start a fire. The sparks caught on his pathetic pile of twigs, but were extinguished by a wet newspaper. Iyami muttered something under his breath as he tossed the paper aside; it seemed the world was against him today.
âIf it werenât for those damn sextuplets, me wouldnât be here at all⊠If only me could start overâŠâ
Iyamiâs thoughts cut him off. Start over⊠He could start over. With new sextuplets, ones that would be just uninteresting enough to let him be the star. It wasnât the worst idea heâd had, far from it.
Dekapan peers out the window at the pouring rain. He turns to Dayon.
â...You didnât leave my clothes out on the line, did you?â
âDayon!â
Dekapan sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose.
â...Of course you did.â
The door burst open suddenly, wind and rain blowing into the laboratory. Dekapan jumps off to the side, hiding behind Dayon.
âGentlemen!â Iyami announces his presence, straightening his stance as he stands in the doorway. âMe has a proposition, zansu.â
He steps into the laboratory with long strides, stopping in the middle of the entryway. Dekapan peeks out from behind Dayon with a âhoeâ.
âPropoâŠsition, dasu?â
Iyami clasps his hands together as the doors shutter closed behind him.
âYes, a proposition. And me needs your help with it, zansu.â
Iyami points at Dekapan. Dayon moves out of the way, grabbing a mop to clean up the entryway.Â
âMe has a plan to become the main character again, zansu,â Iyami puts his hand to his chest. âTo shine in the spotlight just as I used to! Me needs you to make duplicates of those sextuplets, zansu. They will be my supporting cast, like they should have been.â
Dekapan looks at Iyami, confused.
âClone the sextuplets, dasu?â
âExactly that, zansu! Clone the sextuplets!â
Dekapan sighs.
âI canât exactly âclone the sextupletsâ, dasu. Is this because of the race?â
âWho cares what the reason is, zansu!â Iyami interrupted. âMe needs myself my own set of sextuplets to be my entourage!â
He gets on his knees and begins to grovel at Dekapanâs feet.
âPlease, Dr. Dekapan!â Iyami cried. âMe just needs to be in the spotlight again, zansu! Anything to be the main character again!â
Dekapan stares down at the crying Iyami, sighing in reluctance.
âThere is one way, dasu.â
Iyami immediately lifts his head up, nose runny and eyes welled with tears.
âReally, zansu?â
Dekapan nods, a solemn look on his face. Iyami sprung up from where he was kneeling.
âWhat is it? What is it?!â
Iyami grabbed Dekapanâs shoulders, shaking him a bit. Dekapan kept his solemn expression as he led Iyami to the door.
âItâs not an easy process⊠You really want to know?â
âYes! Yes! Me wants to know, zansu!â
Dekapan opens the door for Iyami, then suddenly pushes him out.
âCome back tomorrow. The weather is awful today.â
The door slams shut. Iyami blinks, dumbfounded. After what just happened registers, he shouts, jumping up into the air.
âSheeeeeh!! You canât do this to me! At least let me stay, zansu!â
There is no answer from inside the lab. Iyami sighs, defeated.
The sun soon rises, starting another day in Akatsuka Ward. Dekapan wakes up bright and early, turning on the lights of his laboratory. Opening up the door to get in some fresh air, Dekapan looks down and finds a beaten-up Iyami curled up on the doorstep, fast asleep. In Iyamiâs hand is a plastic bag. Picking up the bag and looking inside, Dekapan sees an assortment of random objects. A beer can, a grimy leather jacket, some cotton roundsâŠÂ These are all holders of DNA samples. Seems like Iyami really is that desperate to get back at the sextuplets. He sighs and gives Iyami a kick, startling him awake.Â
Iyami looks around hastily before stopping at the doctor before him. He straightens himself up.
âDr. Dekapan! Good morning, zansu!â
Dekapan responds with an exasperated âhoehâ, inviting Iyami inside once again, albeit reluctantly. He looks inside the bag again.
âI see youâve brought some DNA samples, dasu.â
âOf course, zansu! Me figured that you would need it for cloning!â
Dekapan sets the bag down on the counter.
âThatâs great, but itâs not enough, dasu.â
Iyami tilts his head, confused. Dekapan starts taking out the objects from the bag one by one.
âSuch small DNA samples arenât enough to make a full clone of a human, dasu⊠Weâre going to need more.â
Iyami scoffs, crossing his arms.
âTch! Like meâd be bothered to go back and steal some random garbage from those lousy sextuplets⊠Me already went once, me wonât go again, zansu!â
â...If you donât want to search for more samples of the sextuplets, there is another way, dasu.â
âSheeh?âÂ
Iyami tilts his head curiously.
âWe can use something else, a cat, for example, to âfill in the blanks,â dasu. Weâll use their DNA to make up for-â
Before Dekapan can finish, Iyami zooms out of the lab. Dekapan watches the trail of dust that was kicked up, exasperated.
Iyami found himself surveying alleyways, front yards, anywhere he could find cats. He wasnât⊠really all that sure what places stray cats usually inhabited, but apparently his whims were right on the money. Of course, being the aesthete he is, he had to find the perfect cats for his plan, ones that acted very similar to the sextuplets. As he walks past one of the alleyways, he comes across a particularly fat cat laying on the ground. A lazy cat, laying around doing nothing⊠Seems like a perfect candidate for an Osomatsu clone! Iyami spots a nearby garbage dump and rummages through it, finding a can of thrown out tuna and a bowl. Perfect! He opens the can to pour its contents into the bowl and tosses it to the lazy cat. The cat notices the bowl, slowly crawling over to chow down. As the cat gorges on the tuna, Iyami swipes the cat up in a garbage bag. It fights against the bag for a bit before eventually calming down and relaxing in the bag.
âUhyohyo!â Iyami laughed. âThis is a piece of cake, zansu! One cat down, five left to go!â
He walks off to survey more alleyways with the cat in the bag. The rest of the day follows the same process. Find a cat similar enough to one of the Matsunos, distract it, snatch it, and repeat until he had a total of six. Two of them did put up a bit of a fight, but Iyami was determined (and also weirdly used to cats attacking him.) Nonetheless, it seems like heâs wrangled up enough cats for Dekapan to use! Iyami makes the trek back to Dekapanâs laboratory, carrying his bounty of cats with a rather prideful smile.
âThis plan is going to work, zansu! Once we make these good-for-nothing clones, Iâll finally be able to get back at those lousy sextuplets for stealing my spotlight!â
Iyami proudly knocks on Dekapanâs front door, getting an answer shortly after. Dekapan stands before him, surprised at Iyamiâs dedication to this project.
âHoeh! That was quick.â
âUhyo~! Never underestimate me, zansu!â Iyami replies triumphantly, putting a hand to his hip and flashing a bright smile.
âNever said I didâŠâ
Dekapan lets Iyami into the laboratory, shutting the door behind him.
Dayon and Dekapan make some preparations for the cloning operation. Dayon wipes away at the dusty exterior of a strange machine whilst Dekapan gets the cats some food, distracting them as he takes small samples of their fur.
âWe have decided to repurpose one of our old machines for this, dasu.â
Dekapan gathers the clumps of fur and places them next to the Matsunosâ DNA samples. Once Dayon finishes wiping down the machine, he notifies Dekapan with a âDayoon!â before stepping away to let Dekapan work. He swabs the beer can with a cotton swab and rubs it onto a petri dish, placing the sample of the fat catâs fur next to it. He brings the petri dish to the machine, stopping shortly to speak to Iyami.
âThis machine will clone the Matsunos as best as it can, dasu. Since there isnât a lot of the Matsunosâ DNA, there may be some differences.â
âEh, me doesnât care, zansu!â Iyami waves his hand dismissively. âJust as long as me can get a set of sextuplets for my entourage!â
Dekapan shrugs with a âhoehâ and places the petri dish into a compartment next to the machine. With a pull of the lever, the machine analyzes the DNA before slowly building up a human body from the bottom up. Once the body is completely built, an electric shock is administered to bring it to life before itâs pushed out onto the ground. What lays on the ground now is a⊠Particularly larger version of Osomatsu with facial hair and longer locks.
âUhyohyohyo!â Iyami laughs, clapping with excitement as he watches the rather dazed clone stand up. âThis one looks perfect to me, zansu!â
Dekapan stares at the specimen, a bit confused.
âHoeh⊠Isnât this one a bit big, dasu?â
âMe doesnât care! Letâs move onto the next one!â
Dekapan slides in another petri dish, and the same process happens. This time, what comes out is a slimmer version of Karamatsu with shaggy hair.
âHoeh⊠Now this oneâs a bit thinner-â
âUhyoo~!â Iyami interrupts, âDonât stop now, zansu! Keep it going! Me must have all six of them immediately!â
With a sigh, Dekapan slides in the next dish. What comes out is a version of Choromatsu with thick eyebrows and a mangy haircut. Just as Dekapan is about to bring up another issue with this specimen, Iyami interrupts.
âDonât sweat the small details, zansu! They all look the same to me! Three left to go!â
Dekapan follows up with the rest of the DNA, three more specimens being pushed out of the machine one by one. All six line up to the side, looking at each other and around the lab, naked and confused. Dekapan and Iyami both stare at the new sextuplets. After a moment, Dekapan sighs.
â...I told you, they werenât going to beââ
Iyami suddenly interrupts, stepping forward and pushing Dekapan back.
âNonsense! Theyâre perfect! Simply magnificent! And me can tell them apart, which is even more convenient, zansu!â
Iyami then strikes a pose, pointing at the sextuplets.
âWelcome to your new role, NEETs! You are to serve under me as a group of uninteresting side characters, understand, zansu?â
Before any of them can respond, he turns around.
âFinally, me will have the spotlight all to myself once more, zansu! The world will know my name and sing my praises! Uhyohyohyo~!!â
