Decorative Sunday
Today we are highlighting Islamic and Persian decorative art from the design portfolio Ornamental Treasures: a Collection of Designs from India, China, Japan, Italy, France, Germany &c. of all styles and times comprising 100 plates with explanatory letterpress by German architect Heinrich Dolmetsch (1846-1908), published ca. 1900 in New York by Bruno Hessling. The plates presented here were printed by Stuttgart lithographers Julius Hoffmann, Emil Hochdanz, Max Seeger.
Explanation of the plates we are featuring today:
1. Mosaic work and glazed clay work. 2. Architectural ornaments. 3. Ornaments in wood and metal. 4. Weaving, embroidery, and painting. 5. Architecture. 6. Wainscot in glazed clay.
