âHappy birthday, Kinoko!â Tokoyami says with great enthusiasm.

"Thanks, Tokoyami-chan! I honestly didn't expect you to remember it."
Komori: You want to make a good impression, yes? There are many men competing against you, and some of them are very handsome. Kuroiro: Is this your opinion? Komori: I speak from observation, not of my own intention. Kuroiro: But youâre of age. Thereâs no man here who catches your eye? Komori: No man anywhere catches my eye.

"Thanks, Todoroki-chan! Sorry in advance if mushrooms start poppin' up on you. I'm just so excited that it's hard to keep the spores to myself, ya know?"
happy birthday!Â đ„ł âŠ sentence starters
âReady for your first present?â
âBig whoop, itâs your birthday.â
âSURPRISE! Happy birthday, (name)!â
âAnother year older! Looking forward to it?â
âGo on, blow out the candles! Make a wish!â
âWhy donât you like celebrating your birthday?â
âI was told I had to get you something, so here.â
âDang, I think I ate way too much cake and ice cream.â
âI might have blown up too many balloons for the partyâŠâ
âWhat? You donât like birthday cake? Who doesnât like birthday cake?â
âWait, so youâve never had a proper birthday party? Oh, weâre changing that.â
âI get that you donât like celebrating your birthday, but I still want you to have fun.â
âI couldnât afford to get you a present, but I hope the gist of my presence is enough.â
âNo, I didnât get you too many presents⊠pay no mind to the moving truck currently pulling into the driveway.â
âI ordered a cake that says âhappy birthdayâ. They sent me a cake that says âMathy Boobyâ. Something tells me they misheard me on the phone.â
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST SHROOM!

âThe most known one are definitely the edible ones, but we know of several different kinds that help with all sort of things! Like the mold that makes penicillin and ones that help plants collect water. Even ones used for medicinal purposes,â Kinoko replied, rambling off her fungal knowledge.
âIt means that out of the 3.8 million species that are estimated to exist, we know less than 10% of those 3.8 million. If we know of fungus with such a variety already, imagine all the things that fungus could be able to do that we just donât know about yet!â Such possibilities always excited her. Fungi were a mystery just waiting to be solved.

âOh you grew up in the country? Is that how you became a sentient shroom?â Desmond was mostly teasing but he was genuine in the fact that she also felt Astray. âIâm sorry, I understand how you feel.â She was vastly shorter than Des but he still put a supportive tail on her shoulder to reassure her.
Once the shroomette mentioned family however; Desmond beamed with a smile and nod. âYeah we talk online every two weeks, I plan on going back one day but Iâm with mom and dad for now. And my Grandparents on my momâs side run a farm so itâs a bit difficult to get in touch with them.â He thought for a hot second. âAnd my dadâs parents all of use are gonna get together for the holidays. So thatâll be nice.âÂ
âWhat about you ummmâŠOh Iâv been rude, I didnât introduce myself. Desmond Baker, Friends call me Des for short, what about you stranger? Gonna see some old friends and family you miss?â He didnât know how but she was good at opening others up apparently, cause now Desmond felt comfortable.
âMaybe! Iâll never tell,â she responded cheerfully to his teasing. When he put his tail on her shoulder, she gave it a supportive pat. She hadnât told many that she was a country girl, but it was probably more obvious to city natives, due to her reserved nature at first and slight accent.
âNice to meet ya, Baker-san. Iâm Komori Kinoko!â she introduced herself. âWe talk in chat rooms often, and I call my parents every once in a while. I even went back home for a couple of days over the summer break!â
With a short chortle, she continued, âItâs kinda awkward now that Iâm a sentient shroom, since everyone else are still normal shrooms.â She decided to go along with his joke to take the heaviness out of the air.

Kinoko hesitated for a moment before she responded. âI getâcha, ya know. I actually grew up out in the country and came to the city to enroll in one of the better hero schools. Itâs definitely mush closer than your home, and I bet Pony could understand better, having grown up in America as well. But I still miss my friends and family sometimes, too.â
After a brief pause, she asked another question. âDo you still talk to your friends in America often? And your family, too?â

Hey Kinoko
Quick mushroom inquiry but whatâs the most deadliest mushroom known to man?
"Oh, that's easy! That's Amanita phalloides-chan! Commonly known as Death Cap Mushrooms and native to British Columbia, it's responsible for 90% of mushroom-related deaths and has a more than 50% mortality rate! It resembles several edible mushrooms, and it's toxin can stand up to cooking, drying, and freezing! It's symptoms only take up to 6 to 12 hours to appear, which is way shorter than most other toxic mushroom that can take days. It's toxins prevent protein synthesis and cause cell death, that starts with violent abdominal pain, vomiting, and bloody diarrhea and lead to attacking the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system. Not to mention, while they are ways to increase survivability, there are no recognized affective antidotes! It's even taken out a Pope and a Roman Emperor!"

"What do you want me to do about it? Make roasted shiitake?"
"Wait, are you saying that because my Shroom-Shooters put moisture into the air, they can be used for things other than spreading mushrooms? That's news to me, shroom!"
Iâve decided on a singing voice claim for Kinoko, as she aims to be an idol hero:
Ironmouse the Twitch Streamer
You can find a lot of clips of her singing on Youtube as well.
