“It means that out of the 3.8 million species that are estimated to exist, we know less than 10% of those 3.8 million. If we know of fungus with such a variety already, imagine all the things that fungus could be able to do that we just don’t know about yet!” Such possibilities always excited her. Fungi were a mystery just waiting to be solved.

Once the shroomette mentioned family however; Desmond beamed with a smile and nod. “Yeah we talk online every two weeks, I plan on going back one day but I’m with mom and dad for now. And my Grandparents on my mom’s side run a farm so it’s a bit difficult to get in touch with them.” He thought for a hot second. “And my dad’s parents all of use are gonna get together for the holidays. So that’ll be nice.” 

“What about you ummm…Oh I’v been rude, I didn’t introduce myself. Desmond Baker, Friends call me Des for short, what about you stranger? Gonna see some old friends and family you miss?” He didn’t know how but she was good at opening others up apparently, cause now Desmond felt comfortable.

“Maybe! I’ll never tell,” she responded cheerfully to his teasing. When he put his tail on her shoulder, she gave it a supportive pat. She hadn’t told many that she was a country girl, but it was probably more obvious to city natives, due to her reserved nature at first and slight accent.

“Nice to meet ya, Baker-san. I’m Komori Kinoko!” she introduced herself. “We talk in chat rooms often, and I call my parents every once in a while. I even went back home for a couple of days over the summer break!”

With a short chortle, she continued, “It’s kinda awkward now that I’m a sentient shroom, since everyone else are still normal shrooms.” She decided to go along with his joke to take the heaviness out of the air.

Kinoko hesitated for a moment before she responded. “I get’cha, ya know. I actually grew up out in the country and came to the city to enroll in one of the better hero schools. It’s definitely mush closer than your home, and I bet Pony could understand better, having grown up in America as well. But I still miss my friends and family sometimes, too.”

After a brief pause, she asked another question. “Do you still talk to your friends in America often? And your family, too?”

Quick mushroom inquiry but what’s the most deadliest mushroom known to man?

"Oh, that's easy! That's Amanita phalloides-chan! Commonly known as Death Cap Mushrooms and native to British Columbia, it's responsible for 90% of mushroom-related deaths and has a more than 50% mortality rate! It resembles several edible mushrooms, and it's toxin can stand up to cooking, drying, and freezing! It's symptoms only take up to 6 to 12 hours to appear, which is way shorter than most other toxic mushroom that can take days. It's toxins prevent protein synthesis and cause cell death, that starts with violent abdominal pain, vomiting, and bloody diarrhea and lead to attacking the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system. Not to mention, while they are ways to increase survivability, there are no recognized affective antidotes! It's even taken out a Pope and a Roman Emperor!"
