warning for spoilers for ch 14 of compass ahead of the cut!
"Oh yeah, th—" she stops herself when she hears the door creak open, and mutters a stern "Shush," at her husband just as Jack runs in in a blur and launches himself at his father's legs. He should have been tucked in already, but looking at the clock, she realises the hour had gone by and neither of them was out there to put their son to bed.
Toto pretends to be tackled, keeping a safe arm around the child's back. "Oh! You got me!"
Jack giggles. "I got you!" His toy dragon has fallen and bounced to her feet, but he doesn't seem to miss the toy. She grabs it and studies it for a moment while the two chatter about bed time and late hours, and 'too much work, Daddy'. Susie sets the dragon right in the middle of her blueprint, and somehow the look of it makes sense there. Or maybe it's the lack of sleep getting to her too.
"Alright, boys. Let's get Jack to bed so Mummy and Daddy can keep working."
"Mh-ahh but why can't I stay here while you work?" He pouts, fussy. But he's rubbing his eye, looking at her over Toto's back.
"Because there are dragons in Mummy's office."
"Dragons?" The soft pace Toto has picked as they walk is already lulling him half to sleep. She can't resist petting his chubby cheek. "I wanna see them!"
"No no, baby. These dragons are big and scary."
"But Mum… why don't you have to hide from them?"
Susie smiles, scrunching her nose and showing her teeth, "Because I'm their mum."
"So am I a dragon too?"
"Yes, Jacky," Toto answers, patting his back rhytmically. "You're not just big and scary like these ones yet."
"How do I get big and scary?" he asks between yawns.
"By going to bed."
just a nice family moment, for ya 🤗🤗 what do you think?
little post belgian gp geoscar drabble for @hamararakattirastas
The race ended, and it poured down. Oscar sighed, and tapped his foot along in the debrief; calculating lost downforce and tyre wear that went through the roof the moment that part of his floor went flying into the aether. It was what it was, shit, but he couldn't rage about it now, not unless Charles volunteered his teeth for Oscar to knock out.
Umbrellas went up to shield them from the pouring rain, and, as if attracted by the unfurling of a canopy, he has a lanky body next to his. George still has a straw firmly between his teeth. He considers Oscar.
"Torture city for us, eh?" He raises his bottle a little.
Max's other hand comes up to Oscar's face and grabs at the little tab of his visor, pulling it up.
"I don't know wh—" He starts to say, but Max interrupts.
"Shit." The helmet visor gets closed right away, and the movement is a little less than gentle. Oscar whines and goes to grab his head because the ache has come back with the jolt. "We need to get you back—"
"What's—"
"Your eyes, Oscar!" Max hisses back, so close their helmets almost bump.
"What's wrong with my eyes?"
"You've got cat eyes, Oscar."
or; Oscar gets into a crash and gets… stuck halfway. Maxie helps more than he realises.

landoscar, vignettes. introspection, fluff and angst
for @nxlx96
It was easier, Oscar had decided, to work like this. It was them, the soft grumble of expensive engines, and the scratch of pens against paper. He reaches towards their drinks, but instead of plucking his own off the table, he takes the mango ones from Lando's coaster.
"Oi! Give that back," he whines.
"No. You took all the mango."
Lando pouts. "Jon said I needed the vitamin C."
"And Artturi said I need to get my potassium up."
Immediately, the butcher's eyes land on him and his face softens. "Bonjour, chaton," he says in a babying voice, crouching and offering his hand to him. Oscar pretty much runs to rub his head against it. The man smells so much like meat and blood and Oscar feels his tummy rumbling.
Give me food. he demands, flopping on his side and making the same noise that always got him scraps of chicken, even in his own mother's kitchen.
or; Oscat meets a territorial cat whilst on an adventure. Maxie comes to the rescue… eventually. Featuring a very confused concierge.

he won’t get applauded for it or have it recognised in any way and it obviously doesn’t count in terms of points but oscar having the weekend from hell, damage in the sprint, damage in qualifying, getting hit in the race and having to unlap himself in a car that’s at best a tractor and yet still not giving up or badmouthing the team (even though they deserve it) or having a public crash out. he’s just impresses me always and never gets recognition for making the best of a bad situation when other drivers do nothing and get endless praise. i’m so tired.
