Soothing music | Orpheus | Chapter 4 | ATTN: Otoha
It has been awhile since he set foot into a ballroom like this, hasn’t it?
At the very least, it sure felt like it, despite their stay in this accursed place just spanning under two weeks - and god only knows how much more time had passed ever since they’ve been abducted. It made him shiver just thinking about all these implications.
On one hand, Orpheus knew that he had to keep on digging further if he wanted to inch closer to the truth, no matter how unpleasant it may be, but on the other hand… he simply wished to escape this insanity for at least a little bit or else, he wasn’t sure if he could keep this up anymore.
Maybe, this trail of thought led him to the piano at the back to begin with. With a thoughtful look on his face, Orpheus’ gloved hands slid over the smooth surface of said instrument, before he settled down on the seating in front of it - not without pushing his coat back, of course.
Promptly, he was given the choice of picking a song to his liking. After a minute or two of consideration, Orpheus announced his decision to the piano (well, actually to the programming, but you know–)
“Nocturne Op. 9-2.”
Just like magic, the notes appeared in front of him. Nodding to himself, Orpheus’ placed the tips of his fingers on the first keys that ought to be pushed in order to start the song. Taking a deep breath, he began to play…
And if a certain amezaiku artisan were to walk into the middle of the song - or at any given point, really -, they would witness his skills in handling this particular instrument. One could say that it was decently good - nowhere near the level of an actual SHSL Pianist, of course, but also not something that could be coming from a complete amateur.
At the very least, he seemed to be focused enough of the song that he didn’t realize that someone came in… Now then, would the newcomer like to interrupt him or wait until he was finished playing?
The choice is yours.
Otoha, despite her initial aversion to the concept of VR, gave in to curiosity and decided to check out the new labs. That is, until she realized that the new options....weren’t all that impressive. They have no interest in whatever brand of sports ball was being offered and a linguistic lab sounded too dry, honestly. That left the piano lab, which didn’t sound (ha ha) too bad in the grand scheme of things. Who was she to turn down some nice music?
Trying to ignore the disorienting feeling of walking in VR, Otoha pushed open the door, only to be serenaded by lovely piano music. The feeling was quite... nice, actually. It was a bit like having background music to accompany her!
Surprisingly enough, Otoha was polite enough to let Orpheus finish his performance before speaking her unwarranted opinion.
“Very impressive, Edler-kun! I didn’t know that you could play piano, much less without your glasses. Did you lose them somewhere?”
