Super High-School Level BMX Biker Ogasawara Takumi Status: DEAD Affiliated with Peak of Hope

A BMX? That was a sort of bike, right? It’s not exactly the sort of thing that Yukio’s into in his spare time, but this guy’s face definitely rings a bell. Weird. He has to think about it for a long moment, listening hard to Takumi’s explanation, before an idea comes to him.

"… Yeah, I think I watched a video of one of the stunt shows you were in online, or something? Was a while ago, and I don’t remember much, but I’m not really into that so that must be it. If I took the time to watch it, it must have been pretty sick, though." he adds, with a grin.

It wasn’t really a surprise to hear that Takumi hasn’t heard of him, either; he doesn’t exactly look like the kind of guy that’s a part of his target audience. Doesn’t matter, anyway — he’s hardly the type to pass up the opportunity to talk about what he does, and his eyes gleam with pride as he talks.

"Heh, same goes for you. Well, the title that the school gave me is ‘Survivalist’. I go places and do crap that would probably get most people killed, and come out of it alive. I usually keep video diaries and put ‘em online, but I’ve done a couple mainstream TV shows. Not really my thing, though. Doesn’t feel real when you have an entire camera crew following you around."

He shrugged his shoulders, as smiley as ever, and drummed his fingers on his sides. Yeah, he could recall times where his stunt shows were manually recorded by other members of his clique and uploaded online. Sure enough that got people noticing him when he travelled places to perform, but nothing too big. It was a wonderful feeling and a rare find for someone who wasn't even in the target audience to recognise him. He felt almost proud.

Halting in his musings, Takumi offered Yukio a smile. "Haha, for real? Thanks, man." he said genuinely, giving him a light punch on the shoulder. It was always such an ego boost, hearing something like that from just about anyone.

Takumi nodded while he listened, noticing how proud Yukio sounded while he spoke. A survivalist? That was pretty cool! He related heavily to the last part; Media attention was definitely something unexpected. He wasn't used to so many cameras and people, having only participated in stunt shows for the local community as well as in other towns and cities prior to bigger things.

"Yeah man, I hear you." he added in agreement, nodding. He glanced around the room. "So like, when do you reckon teachers or whatever are gonna show up? 'Cause I mean man, this openin' don't even have a buffet... I get hungry when I'm bored! Ain't that necessary at things like these?"

It totally wasn't but what did he know.

She was thinking about just leaving for scouting purposes, when she was approached by someone.

"O-Oh. Hello Ogasawara-san…er, Takumi-san? Which did you want to be called again…?"

She wasn’t used to calling people by their first name: it was a habit she had been accustomed to all throughout her life. Still, if this Takumi person wished to be referred by first name, then she would.

"This is quite an interesting party, though I do wonder why it has the air of an abandoned party. Perhaps they did not get everything done in time and they are too ashamed to show their face?"

She took his hand, and shook it politely.

He looked down at the girl and offered her a polite grin, finishing shaking her hand before taking it back and burying them in his pockets.

"Just Takumi, yeah? You don't gotta use any fancy additions to it." his smile shortened a bit in order to look more inviting. "What 'bout you?"

A small nod followed soon after in agreement to what she said, taking another look around the room. The sight of all the decorations, especially the banner, excited him, and he felt his smile widen. He had no idea what she was talking about in regards to the party being abandoned. They all received invites, right?

"Nah, I bet they're just runnin' late. Or, maybe they had a real big surprise waitin' for us. Kinda like, uhhh... A show! Or somethin'..." he tapped his chin. "I'm not really sure what goes down durin' entrance ceremonies. If it's a borin' old assembly with just talkin' then I'm boycottin' this whole thing, eheh."

Of course, that last part was a joke. It'd be silly to leave now before any staff even arrive.

" Ah I see so you can’t recall anything about coming here either?" shuu fiddled with his medical mask, almost lost in thought. " You wouldn’t happen to have any other memory issues before this would you?" Shuu was coming to a conclusion that it wasn’t just a coincidence that everyone seem to be having these issues.

they had to be connected some how. ” I mean any that weren’t alcohol induced…” Shuu never really understood underage drinking but right now he thought it sounded like a good hobby to take up.

He was taken out of his thoughts once he saw Takimu took a step back. ” Sorry, about my outburst that is. The situation is a confusing one, It’s really got me befuddled.” He apologized almost absentmindedly, but then he noticed that The other was sort of.. staring at him?

" Is there something on my face—" He was interrupted with another question. Which was actually a good one. " I can’t honestly tell you if we are being kidnapped, but by the sound of everyone’s testimonies It would seem something very strange is happening around here and I can’t can’t say for certain how bad it is."

Takumi just nodded in response to his question, scratching at his head until the analyst asked something else. Something that he could surely answer just as easy.

"Other memory issues..." he repeated, recalling the many times in which he had the world's worst hangovers or knocked himself out somehow during one of his early days doing stunts. When Shuu said alcohol induced ones didn't count, he let out a small hum in disappointment.

"Well, I mean... No? I just remember goin' to school and then... not bein' at school..."

Takumi blew out some hair from his face, which ended up swaying back to the original position over his eye. Now that he thought about it, this situation didn't make any sense. Especially if he couldn't even remember how he got here.

"Hey hey hey, man. Don't worry 'bout it, it's cool." he reassured him, giving him a light pat on the arm. "I mean, I ain't really used to stuff like this... As long as we ain't been kidnapped, then I'm not really that worried. I mean, we got balloons. We should lighten up a bit."

But Shuu looked smart enough, and tried to make understanding of their situation, so it was only natural that Takumi trust him with that job if it's something he's willing to do. In order to break the ice, Takumi asked the inevitable.

"So, uh. Assumin' you were aimin' for Hope's Peak, is there any trouble askin' what you do? You look wicked smart, not gonna lie."

Maybe he was just bias because he had glasses and amazing hair.

"Glad to see someone appreciates parkour, I thought coming to this school would mean I’d be surrounded by super high school level mathletes or some shit. Honestly, I just transferred here for the new location."

Scratching the back of their neck in thought, they favored Takumi with another grin. Thank god he was so chill— everyone else seemed to have a severe case of stick-up-their-ass mentality. And Takumi didn’t seem too book smart, being more of a street kid; not dumb, but not anyone impressive academincally. Not that Ai was complaining— the few times they went to school, they were barely passing their own classes. 

"Ah shit, what did I go by back then? C… nah, Dai? Dai Kantai? I think that’s the name that went up for me with some of those interviews and videos. If you heard of someone by that name in the sport, it was probably me unless there’s someone else born with that unfortunate name."

BMX biking wasn’t anything Ai had expert knowledge on; what did they do, ride their bikes over jumps and shit? Pretty hardcore, but alien knowledge. Whatever it was, Ai wanted a piece of that.

"You know the rich kid kind kind, born with a silver spoon in their mouth and grew up sucking on gilded pacifiers. They could probably buy their way into a place like this. Like, I dunno, you really can’t tell what anyone here is in for, huh? Do you have any info on the others? I really didn’t think to check before getting here."

Takumi just grinned as the other continued talking. Sure it was great that he had a mild interest in their talent, but he couldn't help but wonder what mathletes had to do with it. Nor did he understand why it would be such a problem to be surrounded by mathletes. If anything, he admired people who were good at the things he wasn't. Especially academically. But he wouldn't say anything-- Not if it was something that might cause an issue, and get in the way of a new friendship.

Upon learning one of the traceur's many aliases, it was if a light bulb above Takumi's head suddenly lit up in realisation that yes, he had heard of them. And he was pretty ecstatic about it.

"Oh-- Oh. Yeah, yeah yeah yeah. I think I heard of you-- Maybe." he recalled, a laugh soon following after. "Man, small world, right? Haha, that's pretty cool."

He just nodded towards the other, scratching his chin as if he was deep in thought but in reality he was just staring at his outstretched legs as he sat slouched. The thought of someone getting into this school in such a way was weird to think about, but Takumi just couldn't find the will to get upset over it. Surely this school knew what they were doing-- As long as people like that were good at what they did, then surely it was fine.

The question brought his attention back to the free runner, and he turned to them with his lips pursed awkwardly. He was the same as them, then, in terms of not checking out who he'd be in class with.

"Nah... I'd say I didn't 'cause I wanted it to be a surprise, but..." his brows relaxed and a smile, albeit an awkward one, found its way upon his lips once again. "I just forgot... my bad! Eheh."

Oh, thank god this guy was chill with first names. If there was anything Ai hated with a deep and unquestionable loathing, it was the stupid tradition of politely calling each other by last names until their relationship solidified into something more. Skip the small talk, go straight to the fist bumps.

 ”Takumi it is, then. And I’m here on Hope Peak’s equivalent of a sports scholarship also, I guess, but a less conventional sport. Ya ever heard of parkour running? I’m more of a city rat with that kind of stuff, rooftops and the like, but I guess I can swing monkeying around in trees too since there aren’t too many buildings here. Never tried it, but hey.” They shrugged, grinning. “We’re supposed to be the best of the best. It never hurts to try somethin’ new. Maybe I’ll even try biking once or twice, since I’m sitting next to a pro.”

 Lounging back and throwing an arm casually over the headrest of Takumi’s chair, Ai took their attention off the biker for a second to survey the room. “So what do you think of the other kids around here? They’re definitely not all sporty, by the looks of them. I wonder if any got in on some bullshit talent like “heir” or “princess.” That would be a riot, huh?”

Upon learning that they too were invited under a sport scholarship, and exactly what they did, Takumi was ever so eloquent with his words when he voiced his obvious favour towards their title.

"Oh, man! Parkour is fuckin' wicked!!" he burst out all of a sudden, not bothering to grace the eardrums of the other with anything but a loud, obnoxious voice. It was true, parkour was insanely cool. Takumi had never tried it himself, but he had seen some videos on youtube and even in movies. He wasn't a fan to the extent of being able to recall the names of traceurs, but he would gladly show no hesitation in voicing his admiration towards the practice. They had even called him a pro, which was flattering in itself. He could tell they were going to be good friends.

Seemed this place was a pretty good catch for Ai, at any rate. To be honest it wasn't so bad for Takumi either. Granted he had no idea where his trusted BMX was, if it was even here at all. If it was anywhere to be found, however, it was obvious that he wouldn't be spending most of his time indoors. How nice of the school, to take the kids somewhere so breezy and secluded. He couldn't wait to tell his pals back home about this trip.

Takumi let out a low hum, tapping his chin. "Yeah, yeah. A lotta 'em look kinda geeky, dont you think? I mean, that ain't bad. Bein' smart must be great and all..." He shook his head, instead laughing a little at the suggestion. "Haha, yeah, that does sound kinda odd... I wonder what bein' any of those two could entail. Doesn't sound like somethin' you'd, y'know... earn."

" You can refer to me with what you feel comfortable with." Shuu couldn’t care less what others refereed to him by, but not using honorifics? what was this some American soap opera?

Shuu had to stop for a second. his eyes narrowed and for a second he looked like he was annoyed or angry, but really his brain was having major lag form this conversation. Buffering… Buffering.." What the hell are you talking about?! dose this even look like a class setting? can’t you tell that this is a secluded area away form any major city— do you even remember coming here??"

Shuu huffed slightly, before regaining his composure. He ran his fingers through his hair which bounces and then settled back in it’s normal position of fwoosh. " No teachers are going to come. There are none here. Can’t you tell that this is a lot more serious than it seems. We’re completely abandoned.

Now that was unexpected, the other giving him permission to call him by his given name. Maybe Shuu was more chill than Takumi had first anticipated.

Takumi quickly withdrew that initial thought when said boy began to show signs of being, what was it... Angry? And then even started to rant of all things. Takumi instinctively took a step back. Whoa... the people here were definitely not as friendly as his pals back home... And quite frankly he didn't know how to react to being told off by someone other than a teacher or parent.

In a vain attempt to try and calm the other down, Takumi took what he said into consideration and decided to tell him what he knew. Which was basically nothing.

"Actually, man, I uh, don't really remember much of anythin' or how I got here." he confessed, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck but smiling nevertheless, his brows knitted. "But I just assumed I had a wicked bad hangover, y'know?"

The boy managed to compose himself, and Takumi watched him run a hand through his perfect hair, completely mesmerized, and felt himself get worried that Shuu would end up ruining it. But, oh, how wrong he was, as it bounced back and took its original shape once more. Phew...

What a downer. The biker pouted at the analyst's revelation and fiddled with his headset wires out of nervousness. "So, what... Have we been, like... kidnapped?"

Shuu turned on his heel as he was approached by…a mop? oh wait no there was actually a person underneath there! Holy crap. still the large smile wasn’t entirely off putting. Shuu scanned over the fellow before him, just by the others voice shuu was having a hard time taking him seriously. Was he not suppose too? Shuu was too lost in thought to see that his other class mate has his hand reached out towards him.

He was moving very oddly, was this individual going to be okay? For waking up randomly in some area with out any context this person was very clam. couldn’t he see how messed up this was? Shuu meet the hand and shook it with his own glove covered one. ” I’m not quite sure what you mean by Epic, but if you mean it in a actual sense no. This situation dose not in any case call for balloons either.”  Shuu Has kinda taken back, Everyone here could be in severe danger, and this man wants to shake hands?

" Ogasawara-san. Right. My Name is Shuu Shizumiya. I’d like to understand why you are so clam in this situation, Or have you just not noticed how much of trouble we all could be in yet." Shuu’s tone had worry laced through it. how could anyone be relaxed at a time like this was beyond him.

Man, this guy had some wicked hair game going on for him. Takumi was almost jealous. No, scratch that, he was seriously jealous. How did he manage to make it sit like that? And the colours were insanely cool! The biker took to fiddling with a length of his own hair, frowning at the revelation that while he did and always will love his hair it would never be as cool as this guy's. Mad props to him.

While the initial impression of the boy got Takumi excited, the way he talked and held himself proved to be rather intimidating. He was so... mature. At least, that's what he assumed. Save for the mask on his face, which he did think was kinda funny. While the analyst complained over how he was acting, Takumi's face visibly scrunched up and he even grasped at his hat in confusion.

"Trouble? But I thought this was a school thing..." he admitted, taking a second glance at all the streamers and balloons. "You mean like, we'll get in trouble if we don't sit down? 'Cause man, I think the teachers are late. Same with the rest of the students." he asked, having turned back to look at Shuu.

He took back his hand in defeat, sighing a bit. Seems this guy needed a little help opening up. "Well whatever, it's nice meetin' ya, Shuu. Can I call ya that? You don't gotta go use my surname or any fancy endin's or nothin'."

Huh, what a surprisingly good reaction from a random stranger who just got nudged by an equally random stranger. Ai mirrored the shit eating grin from the stranger, no, biker, slouching a bit more comfortably in their seat now that the initial reaction had turned out positive.

“I guess in certain circles, my face might be recognized but probs not my name. Aliases and all that to avoid the spotlight, ya know? I still don’t know how this school found me after all that. So famous? Nah. I was a bit too chickenshit to embrace that spotlight. But ah, shit, I didn’t even introduce myself. The name’s Ai Asahi, and I swear that one’s my real name.”

Tilting their head in idle curiosity, Ai held out a hand in an indecisive in between of a handshake or a fistbump, whichever the biker wanted to give. “So I don’t keep mentally calling you “the biker,” what do you go by?”

So they went by a bunch of different names? That was pretty cool, Takumi thought, rubbing under his nose in thought. If that was the case, would the other encourage him to call them by something else, or their given name? He'd find out at any rate-- Not by asking, though. He'd just call them whatever until he was called out on it. No big deal.

There wasn't anything wrong with not wanting to be the centre of attention, and Ai appeared to have a very strong opinion. Hell, Takumi could relate in a sense. Even his own talent was just a hobby turned career, his recognition coming solely from the fact he participated in racing for a small amount of time.

Nevertheless, he sent a thumbs up their way. "Nice meetin' ya, Ai. And it's cool, it's cool-- I'll believe you, eheh."

Takumi took no hesitation in bumping Ai's fist with his own, chuckling over what they had going here. Soon the time would come for them to even have their own secret handshake. Takumi was alight in anticipation.

"Name's Takumi Ogasawara. A mouthful, right?" he introduced himself, joking over the last part. "I go by Takumi, usually. Bikin' is just what I do-- BMX, specifically." He clicked his tongue and scratched at his head.  "What do you do?"

The survivalist was still looking around the lodge, trying to get a feel for the surroundings to see if he can get any more information than just ‘I don’t know why I’m on this mountain and it sort of sucks’, when he catches movement out of the corner of his eye. He turns to face the source, and comes face to face with one of the other students. 

He’s a little taller than him, maybe by a couple of inches, with a really bad dye job, but he’s got a smile on his face and a cheerful manner, which is a welcome change from the doom and gloom central attitude of the place, to be honest. So he flashes him a smile in return, taking his hand and shaking it firmly.

"Never been a formal person myself, Takumi-kun, so that works fine for me. I’m Kumagae Yukio. Call me whatever you want."

He lets go of Takumi’s hand, pushing his own hands into the pockets of his parka as he glances around the lodge.

"Would be a better welcoming party if we actually had a welcoming party, honestly. We’re all Hope’s Peak students — only makes sense that there oughta be Hope’s Peak teachers around, or at least some lodge staff, or somethin’.”

Looking back at Takumi, he squints at him a little, frowning a moment.

"…Y’know, you look kinda familiar. What’d you get into Hope’s Peak for?"

Man, what a nice guy. Takumi sent a genuine smile Yukio's way as the two shared a handshake. He fiddled with the wire of his headset and nodded to him, glad that he had the same idea when it came to addressing someone.

Upon being told he looked familiar, which didn't fail to surprise Takumi, and being inquired as to what his title was, the biker yanked at the wires in new found excitement.

"Me? I ride a BMX. I guess I got in 'cause of all the stunt shows I do--" He paused, quirking an eyebrow. "Or the racin'. Though the latter ain't really my style, doesn't mean I ain't good at it." he mused out loud, his grin only widening at the recollection.

As for this guy, he didn't look familiar at all. Takumi felt almost bad. The chances of someone recognising him were slim, so it was exciting that he was described as looking 'kinda familiar.' But he didn't recognise Yukio in the slightest. He supposed he better ask about it-- Not that he wasn't already interested, but still.

"So you a student at Hope's Peak too, yeah? What do you do, Yukio?" Takumi inquired as upbeat as ever, already moving on to first name basis. He added a compliment to sweeten their inevitable pact of friendship. "You look like a pretty cool guy into some pretty cool things."

                ”Aw shit, someone did up the lodge all pretty for us as a welcome party. That’s adorable.”

It was no more than a mumble under their breath as Ai stepped into the hulking mammoth of a lodge, knocking on the wood of the doorway as they shuffled quietly on the heels of another student— some brute with probably all brawn and not so much brain, judging by the half shaved head and fact his physical presence took up almost the entire room.

What greeted Ai’s eyes was quite the motley assortment of students, if they could be called that much. They supposed they should have done their research on future classmates before heading to the school, but frankly hadn’t cared enough about anything but moving to the new city Hope’s Peak was located in. That was, back when the plan was to be attending school at Hope’s Peak and not podunk middle-of-fucking nowhere where they currently were.

Ai wasn’t complaining, of course. Compared to a stuffy, closed off school building with interior hallways and nothing but solid walls everywhere, their current surroundings were entirely preferable. Open space, clear air, and of course trees. It wasn’t the concrete jungle that they had clambered over and under, but a wooden playground served just as well.

Instinctively, Ai’s eyes brushed along the floor, walls and roof of the new building to scout out perches and holds— that wall mounted light would most likely break under their weight, the ceiling decoration would hold for two swings and a jump before surrendering its grip and falling, the couch could be used as a springboard to get on top of that shelf over there. It was instinctive, really, and in less than a second they had their eyes back on the living and breathing members of the room.

What a fucked up looking group of individuals. Yeah, they’d probably all get along just fucking great. 

Shrugging and singling strangers out at random, Ai slid in next to the person closest to them and nudged them to get attention, blatantly ignoring all sense of personal space. “So, since you’re part of this school— mountain? — does that mean you’re famous or something?”

After gawking at the decorations in the large hall, Takumi took it upon himself to do what students were initially supposed to do during an opening ceremony and took a seat in one of the sitting areas. Front row seats, in specific. The better view of something, the more likely he would pay attention. If he had sat at the back then the chances of him falling asleep were high.

Though, when only a few of the students did the same, and the lack of students and staff was as evident as ever, Takumi began to show genuine confusion. Man, so much for that, huh? Either they were incredibly early, or everyone else was incredibly late.

Someone had chosen to sit next to him and Takumi offered them a trademark grin. The nudge and question provoked a small laugh from the biker.

"Ahah, famous?" he repeated, raising a brow. He knelt over and rested an elbow on his leg, propping his head up on his hand in thought as he looked forward. "Well, I ain't gonna be modest. I suppose people who are into bikin' would know 'bout me."

He sat back up and leaned back on the chair, stretching his arms behind his head.

"What about you, huh?" he asked in return, turning to the stranger. "You famous?"

"Haha, whaaaaat..."

That was his initial reaction upon arriving at the lodge, eyes widening slightly and showing off a big grin. The large lobby was more impressive than anything he had seen on his way here, if he didn't include that incredibly personalised cabin, and it was almost intimidating in a way. He wasn't used to such formalities, yet the way the room was decorated made him feel somewhat important-- Balloons and streamers and even a large banner, spelling out their welcome.

Despite how out of place the situation was, Takumi was thrilled! This may have not been the school, but an opening like this had managed to dispel all his worries of reaching the place. In fact, it's almost as if this was the school's doing.

Judging from the 'students' part of the banner, the rest of the bunch must have been aiming for Hope's Peak, too. Takumi felt his chest well up with excitement. So this must have been an induction of some sort! Or maybe a last minute trip. That didn't necessarily explain why Takumi barely remembered anything prior to arriving at the village, but he just shrugged it off like he did with most problems. It wasn't like him to forget things, after all-- He wasn't necessarily the brightest crayon in the box.

He took a look at the rest of the group and pursed his lips, wondering why their expressions were so confused or horrified. His naivety resulted in his absolute dismissal of the thick, gloomy atmosphere and heavy dread that something was terribly, terribly wrong. In his eyes, this was just a cool way of greeting students for the new term!

Takumi bounced on his heel, his hands stuffed into his short pockets as he wandered around. He decided to approach someone and, with a small wave and a large smile, offered a hello.

"Hey, hey." he chirped in greeting. "So what about this, huh? This is some epic welcoming party, am I right? I kinda wanna pop some balloons, heh."

Rocking back and forth on his feet, he reached out and offered the person a hand.

"Name's Ogasawara. I'd prefer Takumi but, y'know how some folk are with formalities."

Upupupu… after a lot of deliberating and near death instances, we have chosen our participants for the Peak of Hope roleplay! The enrolled students are:
