✍ [ YUKIO ] - A gentleman's agreement.
Perhaps this door was just somehow... different than the ones that resided on the other cabins. Why was this so difficult? His mission was clear, his intentions were valid, his decision was made... So why was he hesitating now? Yukio had said that Akimitsu could speak to him on any topic, easing his mind the best that he could and providing a shoulder to lean on when he wanted. It was a bond between two gentleman, knowing that they respectively had obligations to carry out regarding not only themselves, but also their humanity. He and Yukio were supposed to be there for one another, correct? Therefore, Akimitsu shouldn't be apprehensive about knocking on the other's door like this. So why was he?
What if Yukio had someone in there and he was interrupting? What if he was in the shower? What if he was sleeping in late? What if he simply didn't want to be disturbed? Every possible negative scenario to result from this overtook Akimitsu, and he faltered in his courage, glancing down at the porch half-heartedly. For a moment, the thought of turning back now overwhelmed him, and he was halfway off of the porch when he remembered his reason for being there. Whatever discomfort may arise from this situation, Akimitsu would have to bear. After all, he wasn't doing this for himself. There were greater powers at play here, and to think otherwise would be selfish.
So, taking a deep breath and straightening up, he knocked on the wooden surface dividing himself and the gentleman housed within the confines of the cabin.
His knock was gentle and quiet, only allowing someone who wasn't asleep or terribly preoccupied to hear it. One second passed, two-- God, he should just give up and turn around, escape this situation and escape him potentially ruining this friendship. He had almost done so before, in the sporting good's store when he and Yukio had spoken. The memory of what the other had said to him regarding his humanity all rushed forward at once, and nervously, Akimitsu glanced at the door handle, almost fearing it to turn.
Mr. Kumagae was... Something else. When they were poisoned, the other had organized everyone, carefully leading the situation into a more stable environment. When the two of them found Shuu's corpse and Rai's bloodied body, he had stood protectively in front of Akimitsu, scouting ahead to make sure it was safe for the two of them to advance forward. And then, in the sporting good's store... Yukio said he liked Akimitsu, listened to his story, heard him out.
If there was anyone here that he could trust with this task, it was Mr. Kumagae. That much was certain. And so, with a new found resolve and nothing to lose, Akimitsu tugged at his bow tie and cleared his throat. Now or never he could do this. Maybe.
