The Saga Begins | Chie (Trial Start) (RE: Koyuki, Maiko)

And so it began — the trial, that is. Chie unfortunately didn’t get much investigating done herself, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t help out, at least a little bit! 

She listened as the others spoke, before she herself gave some input. First, to… well, someone whom Chie had never gotten a name from, admittedly, but oh well.

"Well, if the knife was in the sink, perhaps the ‘culprit’ was trying to clean the blood off of it, and place it back where it was before they took it. Though, it was a tad sloppy of them to not put it back after all. Maybe they were short on time, or simply forgot?

As for your theory, Nakano-san, if that were to be true, that would mean the ‘culprit’ would be someone Miyake-san trusted, would it? I wouldn’t know, I didn’t know her personally, so I’m not sure how easy she trusted others.”

Game of Life | Chie (Body Reaction)

Well, zoo wee mama, Chie sure wasn’t expecting this.

First that motive, that picture — which Chie… admittedly didn’t think too much of. Someone must have put it through the Photo Shop, she thought, all that funky computer technical bullshit that she didn’t understand in the slightest.

And then, this happened. This poor girl, this girl Chie had never spoken to, was… apparently dead? It… couldn’t be, could it? No one would really — this was all just a game, right?

Yeah… that was it… a game. And — and this girl must have been in on it.

As she looked over the body, a small smile spread on her face, though if you looked hard enough, one could take a guess that it may have been forced.

"This… Miyake-san must be in on this little game, isn’t she…? That’s why… this real blood, it — it’s very well made, it seems, I almost thought it was the real thing! Ahahaha…

Ah, well. I suppose It wouldn’t hurt to humor you, Monomi-san, and play your little ‘game’…!”

But how long could Chie convince herself it was just a game?

Time of Death: Between 10 and 11 PM.

Points of Interest:

Bruising and minor bleeding around knuckles.

Multiple stab wounds in the torso area.

Signs of struggle in kitchen such as pots, utensils and plates knocked around.

The bed you awake in is soft and welcoming, and yet there’s a heavy atmosphere in the room weighing in that feels more suffocating than comforting. As you open your eyes, you are met with the various shades of pink in your bedroom. That’s right; you’re in this castle still.

On top of that, it’s only been a day since the motive had been revealed. Just yesterday, you were holding that photograph. Its very intent was to motivate you to murder if only so they weren’t murdered instead.

But would someone actually be driven to do so because of it? You think back to the reactions the other girls had as you make your way to the kitchen for breakfast.

Motive 001

There was a voice that echoed throughout every hall of the floor you inhabited. Even those within their bedrooms could hear her voice loud and clear as she spoke.

"Would evewy pwecious wittle pwincess gather to the thwone woom, pwease? I have some vewy important news to discuss with you all! It would be a shame if one of you were to miss out!”

Monomi had requested you all head to the throne room—or rather, she seemed to be summoning you. Was it possible that anyone was going to be truant? There had been a very palpable sense of threat since the first day in the foyer. As it stood, no one had outright went against her orders yet.

As everyone filed into the throne room, Monomi sat patiently on the throne in mention. Once everyone was present, she sprung up with a cry of delight.

(Ab)Normal Days - Maiko Nakano [Location change | Open]

Maiko stood her ground as bright orange eyes looked back at her own pale blue ones. Listening to the girl before her speak, she remained on guard. Lies were easy to tell, Maiko knew this. And knowing the situation Chie could eaisly be lying to her. She couldn’t fall for any possible tricks. Adjusting her glasses, her shoulders eased downward as she looked at the Innkeeper. 

Short and petite, pale skin and raven hair. She didn’t look like a threat, but Maiko didn’t know what she may be hiding under that kimono. But either way, she was going to treat this like she did Haruka. If the girl tried anything, she’d surely protect herself. 

"Alright then. But fair warning, if you try to harm me in anyway, I will not hesitant in protecting myself." 

"With that out of the way introduction are in order seeing as we are all here together, no? Anyway, I am Maiko Nakano, Doll Designer. Nice to meet you."

Chie nodded. Well, she supposed that was reasonable enough! Even if she had no reason to harm the other girl, or anyone for that matter.

"Very well, then.

Ah-- Yes, yes! I am Chie Ogarasawa, Super High School Level Innkeeper. It's a pleasure to meet you!"

She smiled before bowing yet again. It was... probably safe to say she did this often.

(Ab)Normal Days - Maiko Nakano [Location change | Open]

Maiko continued to admire the many flowers and greenery that filled the garden. If she had to be honest, she wasn’t fond of many flowers, one or two maybe. But other than that, gardens and things didn’t interest her all that much like it did other girls if anything the plants only served as inspiration when she’d go to the park. Yet… Now with the concept of being trapped in the castle, Maiko couldn’t help but be grateful for the little bit of outside that they had.

Walking along the grass, the Doll Designer stopped at the sound of other footsteps. Turning fast she eyed the kimono clad girl. Standing with her back straight and her head held high, she began to speak with her same calm yet soft tone.

"You. What is your business? Do you have ill intent?"

 Her pale blue eyes stayed on the Innkeeper while her words cut straight to the point. Though the other girl seemed to mean no harm or incapable to Maiko, that didn’t mean she’d let her guard down. One thing that can surely kill you is underestimating someone for even a second.

It took a while for Chie to even notice the doll designer's presence, let alone answer the question. She stared at her for a second, bright orange eyes meeting the icey blue of her companion's before she spoke up.

"...Ah, my apologies if I have disturbed you."

A light bow of the head, ten degrees, before she continues. Quite the one for formalities, isn't she?

"Ill intent? Oh, no, no, not at all...! I was simply exploring, if you will. That's what you do when you're unfamiliar with an area, no? The inside was beautiful, so I figured the outside was be just as nice, and lo and behold, I was right! It doesn't seem too bad, staying here for a while, really."

Aside from the whole "mutual killing" thing, or at least that's what she would say if she wasn't dead convinced it was a joke.

(Ab)Normal Days - Maiko Nakano [Location change | Open]

[Room > Courtyard]

Maiko calmly stepped out of her room after finishing with her unpacking. Hearing the soft click of the door closing behind her, the Doll Designer slipped her golden key into her pocket. Turning on her heels of her black Mary janes, Maiko casually began to walk away from her door. She only met two girls so far, Koyuki and her roommate; Haruka. It seemed like nothing, there were still fourteen other girls to meet and speak with. Just the thought of so many people was a bit worrisome for the girl, how was she mean’t to remember so many names? She guessed she’d just have to worry about it when she got to that point. But for now, she’d like to get use to the place they were trapped in.

Stopping in her tracks, she eyed the courtyard. She always did like flowers… And it’d be a nice beak from all the pink. Making her way into the garden, the smell of flowers and freshly cut grass filled her nose. Walking slowing along the bushes, Maiko trailed her pale fingers against the beautiful petals of the many flowers.

  “I should remember to bring my sketch book next time I come here…”

Everything was happening so much! First the events leading to getting here, then that silly Mutual Killing announcement, then rooming announcements. (Chie was admittedly quite dissappointed that she was the only one without a roomate, but oh well)

She'd checked out her own room after speaking with Geiko, before deciding to explore the rest of the castle a bit. God, it was beautiful! Nothing like anything she'd ever seen before. This was something she only could've hoped to imagine before coming here, and seeing it real, here, in person...!

Eventually, she had found her way out in the courtyard. Man, it was nice on the outside, too! The grass, the flowers, all the sights and scents and sounds and everything just coming all together, perfectly in tune with each other...

...Yeah, Chie looks entirely out of it, completely not noticing the other pale girl not too far from her. You'll probably have to speak up to her if you want her attention, because Chie is just gone. In the metephorical sense, anyway.

Geiko let out a tiny laugh at the comment, the girl didn’t seem too bad. People with good memories were important, she was one as well. Don’t get a title like her’s without having one. There was too much information in the world to have to deal with and she was going to try to figure out it all; all of it. And that would include whatever it was this girl was talking of.

"Although i do suppose how one would tell in a situation such as this one…"

There wasn’t much way for them to get out of here; well she could tell the rest of them such things. 

"My name. Ah yes; Maki Geiko. I suppose we’ll he in this together?"

Her attitude could truly change right? She was one of many faces.

"Aha... right, right, I suppose not.

But, that doesn't mean I can't share such a tale once we get out, no?"

Cheerful as always, aren't we, Chie? Who said there was even any way out, aside from murder?

Then again, she was probably still certain that this was all fake, just a little game of some sort.

"Oh! Well, it's a pleasure to meet you then, Maki-san!"

She gave another bow, practically nailing the angle to bow at as if she'd done this a hundred times before. Granted, it probably wouldn't be that big of a stretch if that were true.

Geiko’s lips curled into a scowl, still a bit annoyed with the girl’s response. Calm down Geiko, things were;nt that bad in all honesty right? No one was dead. 

"I’d love to hear what tourists tell stories of such strange things. Maybe you should tell me something like those later? But for now such things to focus on is the fact that we’re in one of these strange stories now."

Tightening her arms she shook her head, stories were interesting to her. She had to keep track of many things as an adviser didn’t she? There were many disorganized and stupid people in the world and Geiko had set herself to right all of these atrocious wrongs. Such heinous crimes.

"Well, maybe this could be a new story for your tourists. Something so ridiculous…"

For someone who prided herself on keeping an even head she really didn’t show much consistency or herself. Perhaps she was more afriad than she thought about all of this.

"Oh, I would love to, some time! I'm quite good at remembering things I've been told -- it's a very useful skill back home!" 

Sure enough, Chie was smiling again, almost blissfully unaware of her companion's scowl. Or maybe she ignored it on purpose. Who knew? She sure was a strange one.

A story for her tourists? Oh, that didn't sound too bad of an idea at all! Sure, Chie was more or less used to hearing the stories more than she was telling them, but new things would never not excite her!

"Oh, that sounds like a simply marvelous idea--"

She pauses. Woah. Hold up...

"...Ah, I'm sorry-- I never did catch your name, did I?"

Hearing the words from the girl nearby Geiko’s face twisted into a rather bitter expression, she didn’t approve of someone speaking of such a threat so easily. Denial was something she didn’t approve of, and she would face the problem head on right now. 

"Would an initiation ceremony have knocked us out? Would they had made this thing to tell us something? There’s reaches of denial and you shouldn’t wave it off so easily."

Being so upfront about something such as this was a bit strange to Geiko but she refused to simply back down. 

"Strange is only when something’s weird, this is downright crazy."

Crossing her arms over his chest, something very off about the action actually, she looked away from the girl.

Chie blinked, staring at the other girl as she tilted her head slightly to the side, a somewhat puzzled expression on her face. 

"They... don't...? All I know is what I've heard from these fascinating tourists' tales...! I haven't experienced any sort of ceremonies myself, so I can't quite say from experience.

Then again, none of these tales ever mentioned anything like this happening, exactly, but..."

She shrugs slightly. Ah, well. She still didn't think too much of it. Sure, she was a little gullible, but even this sounded a bit silly. (And it didn't help that they were told this by some two toned stuffed rabbit in a frilly dress.)

…Well then.

That came right the fuck out of nowhere, didn’t it? Mutual killing? Kill each other to get out? It all sounded so stupid, yet a bit terrifying. It was hard to describe it, really. Would… would anyone here actually be willing to kill someone?

Chie stared. She stared long and hard at the… rabbit… thing. Was she even looking at her, or staring off into space right past her? Either way, she seemed to be entirely out of it, lost in her own thoughts and her own thoughts alone.

…Before smiling a little to herself, a bit… too cheerful for the announcement they had just gotten.

"Oh, this is surely one of those… initiation ceremonies, that appear to have a sort of popularity in schools, clubs, and such, is it not? I’ve heard of many of them from tourists whom have visited our inn, and quite a few of them were quite strange. Surely, this is what this… "Mutual Killing" business is, no?"

Is she retreating into denial, or does she seriously think of this as just a sort of “initiation ceremony”? What the hell is there to be initiated into, anyways?

Ah, well. It’s pretty hard to tell either way.

After exploring the whereabouts of the first floor, Monomi returns you all to the throne room. The ruffles of her dress are flapping everywhere as as she bounces up and down with glee, and it could be found kind of cute. Unless you had a cold heart. In which case, it was irritating.

"Awright! Now that we have all of that out of the way, we can get to the main show: our game~!"

Game? You glance around, but everyone looks just as lost as you about that.

"Monomi’s ★ Mutual Killing ★ Game of ★ Hope and Fwiendship!”

Wait a minute. Killing?

"Uwauwa, you’we all gonna be stuck hewe! Fowever!"

…….

People begin to panic. Some of the girls fidget in disbelief, while others hold back cries. But you only listen in shock as Monomi continues.

"Isn’t it gweat? You all can become better fwiends and gwow old together! But… I understand that some people wouldn’t wike that. So after that considewation, I have decided to give you all a way out! You just have to commit the perfect murder!"

Her cheery disposition is still there as she explains this, and yet the entire tone of her seems to have grown darker. It’s almost like a shadow appeared over here face. Whatever it is, you can’t tell—but it’s scary.

"And you motherheckers better kill! Or else something bad might happen, uwauwa…"

Just as quickly as the shadow came, it’s gone, and the cheery, cute exterior of Monomi is returned to you all.

"So you all can band together with hope and fwiendship! You’ll all wive if you have that!"

You blink, and then she’s gone from your sight. It seems she’s left you all to freak the fuck out.

What a weekend.

CHAPTER 1★ START!

…And then she woke up.

Boy, oh boy, she didn’t know what to expect. What just happened? Was this some sort of odd initiation ceremony? It was… kind of exciting, really, if not a little frightening!

Slowly, she picked herself up, gingerly dusting off her kimono as she observed her surroundings, her classmates, and Monomi. A small smile tugged on her face as her heart began to race. Oh, she couldn’t wait to speak to everyone!

What were they like? What were their talents? What did they like, what did they do, where were they from? All these questions and more whizzed through Chie’s head at the speed of sound; she had no clue where to start!

Well, introducing yourself, for now, Chie.

"…Well, then…! Good morning, all of you…! Or, is it evening? Afternoon? I’m afraid I’m not quite sure…"

She pauses for a minute. How much time had passed, anyways? Y’know, between arriving and that stuff going down, then waking up here.

Either way, now was hardly the time to zone out, Chie. You’ve got introductions to do.

"…Anyways! I am Chie Ogasawara, the Super High School Level Innkeeper. It is a pleasure to be making your acquaintance today." 

She bows, a solid 30 degrees, that same small, stupid smile plastered on her face the whole time.

Well, time to go and socialize. However the hell you’re supposed to do that.

You slowly come to, not entirely sure what happened. Wait, wait—Someone knocked everyone out and… then you blacked out as well. You figure that you can piece together what happened to you. You look around to see the other girls. Some were visibly panicking, some were, at the very least, trying to appear calm, and you? You were barely holding your wits together.

"Oh, no no no! Did those meanies beat you girls up? That’s weally wude of them!"

A voice calls, and you glance around to find its location. The first thing you are greeted to is the various shades and tones of pinks that make your eyes throb and rapidly blink. It then occurs to you that maybe you’re in that dumb old castle after all. That ominous feeling you got starts to come back. You try to squint into the distance to see where the voice is coming from…

…A bunny? Or rather, a plush rabbit. You barely noticed her among the camouflage of other pinks that she blended into with her own pink motif.

"Hewwo, my wittle pwincesses! Awwow me to introduce myself! I’m the Pwetty Pwincess ♔ Monomi!"

What the fuck?

"They weren’t supposed to be that mean, I’m super sowwy for that!! I pwomise I’ll give you all some medicine later. For now, pwease intwoduce yourselves! Uwauwa, I hope we’ll all be best fwiends!"

You’re confused, worried, and… You pretty much have no idea what is going on. In any case, knowing the other students might prove helpful.

But you sure don’t think you’ll ever be friends with Monomi.
