Alone.
Kazuhiko stood in the kitchens, mixing slowly. Gone was the fire that used to consume him while he baked. Akito was gone…Akito who was sweeter than anyone here. Who liked his sweets. Who rode the Ferris wheel with him.
He piped the dollops of meringue batter on the baking sheet as he shuffled through the kitchen, sighing heavily. Adrian was still kind…and of course he still had Takumi…and the explorers club…that stupid idea to try to keep them all together.
“Kazuki can fucking die though.”
The phrase was odd on his tongue…he didn’t have experience wishing anyone ill…nor experience cursing. What could he say, he was sheltered.
Everyone knew he was here. He hardly left the kitchen , except to ride a few rides. His smile grew weak and his eyes had bags. Sleep came very rarely. The piles of cookies and cakes grew higher…but there was almost no one left to eat them.
The meringues went in the oven, and Kazuhiko just collapsed on the counter and cried.
Meike had managed to at least get herself out of her room and make herself look presentable since her near-suicidal incident. For the most part her mood had lightened thanks to Hideki and she had decided to walk around a bit, get some fresh air. As she neared the kitchen she could smell the faint scent of something sweet. Deciding to investigate she moved closer to the kitchen only to hear a strange, yet familiar sound. Was someone crying?
Hesitantly she silently peaked through the door to the kitchen to see the patissier sobbing quietly. She’d yet to speak with him, and considered not disturbing his alone time. But he did look awfully lonely and upset, granted everyone was feeling that way. Finally she knocked on the entrance’s door to make her presence known. “Uh, hello, Kazuhiko was it?” She spoke softly as she approached the counter. “I know we haven’t talked much before, but I heard you crying…would you like to talk?” She kept her tone quiet and gentle as she bent down to have herself eye level with the boy draped on the counter. “If not, I can leave” She made a small smile at him as she waited calmly for his response.
"We can talk...if you'd like." He gave a weak attempt at a smile and wiped his tear stained face, combing his hair back with his hand. "You're nice to approach...I've been close to catatonia the past few days, if you understand. It's a pity to be sure...without...without many of my friends....the future simply looks bleak."
He stepped towards the oven and pulled out the cookie tray, and just started munching. "Want shome?" He talked as he chewed. It wasn't fun like usual. Just some sugar to brighten the mood.
He sighed deeply. "I'm sorry about all of everything that happened...We'll talk...shall we?" His eyes glimmered a little with tears, but he managed to retain calm.
