Character Name: Yuuto Ikeda, first name first.
Height: 180 cm or 5.9 feet.
Weight: 66 kg or 146 lbs.
Super High-School Level _____: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Small Biography / Intro: Yuuto Ikeda became one of the youngest EMTs to work at a major hospital after displaying remarkable bravery and aptitude during a crisis in which another paramedic was injured while on the job. Showing no hesitation, he took the wheel of the ambulance and successfully saved both the patient and the paramedic. Making a name for himself as a bit of a local hero, he continued to give nothing but his absolute best effort while on the job, gaining the respect of his teammates as well. Born into a family of doctors, Yuuto was surrounded by pressure to enter a field of medicine since he was very young. Glad that he had finally found a profession he excelled at and made his family proud, he's eager to take his title as far as it will carry him, determined to save as many lives as he can along the way.
Skill #1: {Life Saver} Yuuto has been trained in all the skills needed to quickly and accurately provide emergency care, including CPR, using a defibrillator, or casting a splint, and is able to preform them all with ease while under pressure. From listening to his parents and brother, he also has the basic knowledge required for advanced techniques such as intubation or drug administration.
“I need two mls epinephrine. Please, I can administer it this time. Yes I took the course, I'm sure I can do it. Thank you sir.”
Skill #2: {Constant Alert} Accidents can happen at any time so Yuuto is always prepared in case his pager goes off and he need to get to work. Rather then sleeping all at once, he takes many small naps throughout the day, allowing him to preform at his peak even in the middle of the night.
“Whaa!? Huh? No no it's ok, I'm awake now. Where's the emergency, I'll be right there.”
Strength: {Still Heart} When complimented on his bravery or fast reactions skills after a job, Yuuto mostly downplays it, relying instead on his ability to simply remain calm during emergencies. He can actually slow down his heart rate to a noticeable degree with just a few minutes of concentration, allowing him to approach the situation carefully and logically without panicking. With a small amount of preparation and his hand on his chest, there is no scene too chaotic or graphic for Yuuto to handle with the upmost professionalism. Using this ability, he can also pretend to be perfectly asleep while still hearing everything around him, a trick he has used on his brother countless times.
“Just give me a moment.. *deep breath*... ok. I'm ready. Show me where their body is.”
Weakness: {First Responder} While good instinctive reflexes are invaluable on the job, Yuuto has had difficulty controlling his responsive impulses even before he became an EMT and the increased stress hasn’t helped either. It's not that he scares easily, but he certainly reacts very easily. His actions can often be jumpy and sudden, such as instinctively reaching out to someone who looks like they might fall, or sometimes just muscle spasms when he prevents them as best as possible. Just the act of lurching forward will make Yuuto get on his knees ready to catch you. In social situations, Yuuto can almost sound like he has Tourette's syndrome, blurting out the first thing that comes to his mind when suddenly spoken. Accusations that catch him off guard are easily able to make him panic and say something he shouldn’t have. These reactions can be especially loud and/or dramatic if he is violently surprised without warning, possibly making him faint or react unexpectedly. He is also much more prone to flinching or jumping back at sudden movements and loud noises. Because of this, he has developed a fear of embarrassing himself in front of others with these outbursts, as well as a fear of all things related to horror movies or jump scares. Only the noises of sirens and his pager fail to startle him, if only because of his constant exposure to them.
“FUCK!... *huff huff* … that was not ok! Seriously, don't scare me like that! Or give a warning at least...uhg... I need take a breather.”

Are you willing to be the Mastermind?: Yes
Execution prompt: {Heart Stopper} Yuuto was imprisoned in a large glass cage, with two huge black and white speakers on either sides. No matter how much Yuuto pounded on the glass it wouldn't break. It was clearly soundproof too, his fellow classmates unable to hear his pleas or attempts to calm them. But soon he began to find it even hard to calm himself. Before he had time to concentrate and slow his heartbeat, the wall sized speakers let lose a sudden blare. He could feel his heartbeat rise again, jumping like a scared rabbit startled by the noise. He couldn't stop yelling, tears already coming off his face. His whole family could be watching him like this, his classmates, his brother, watching him completely helpless and trapped in a cage. But the execution has only gotten started.
The speakers begin to beat in a rhythm, pounding one after another in quick suspicious. The beat started out slow:
Thump thump... thump thump... thump thump... thump thump
It only took Yuuto a second to realize it was a recording of his heartbeat. Soon he couldn't even hear his own pulse, only the powerful beat of the speakers in his ears. Panicking, he rapidly checked his wrist, his neck, anywhere where he could feel his pulse, though all he could feel was the shaking of the cage as it was rocked by the sound. Each thump rumbled the cage, it's vibrations even viable to the students from the outside. The beats began to get faster, mimicking Yuuto's own heartbeat as it sped up. 100 bpm, then 150 bpm, and soon 200 beats per minute. His ear drums quickly burst, blood visibly flowing down his face as Yuuto collapsed on his knees screaming in pain. He could feel the sounds getting louder and louder, the sheer vibrations in every part of his body. 300 beats per minute and climbing. There was a sudden pop and Yuuto felt something snap in his chest, his heart rupturing. Finally the noise stopped as Yuuto coughed up blood all over the floor. In his last few moments of life, he grasped as his chest, only to find nothing, no beat. He collapsed in a pool of his own blood and passed away, with his ears still ringing from the noise.
Murderer prompt: The only way Yuuto would truly allow himself to kill would be if he thought one of the other students might panic due to either the motive or just stress. If there was no other way to calm them, Yuuto could be able to reason with himself that killing them was the right thing to do; bringing them a peaceful death and preventing them from harming anyone. He would also chose someone with a more violent title even if they were stronger then him, just because he wouldn't want other students to become fearful of them. One thing he would never do is kill anyone he knew or had become close too, even if he thought it would be easier to trick them. Yuuto would have to see the murder as a challenge for him to go through with it. His preferred method to kill would be through strangulation. Any weapon would work, wire, cord, or his own hands.
“Do you think I care if you're the strongest one here? Everyone else might be all scared of you but I'm not. If you start any sort of trouble, I'll finish it! Yeah, keep that in mind...”
Seeking out the individual he wished to kill, Yuuto would try to catch them off guard and strangle them from behind, even using underhanded tactics like lying to them if the situation was dire. The whole time while killing them he would attempt to talk and calm them, hoping that they would experience some autoerotic asphyxiation before they died. After their death, Yuuto would attempt to arrange his victim’s body in a peaceful pose like they were sleeping, maybe covering them with a blanket or cleaning up any blood. If he felt there wasn’t enough time or was in a hurry, he would at least mark off the area so people knew there was an murder there. The last thing he would want would be for more people to panic from the surprise of finding a corpse. He wouldn't really plan out how he was going to hide the evidence or make an alibi, probably pretending like he had been asleep when it happened. Of course, he would quickly justify it to himself that this murder was only to prevent other more violent ones. However, if he killed once, he would have little hesitation (maybe even some glee) in bringing someone eternal peace again.
“You're going to die now. It's alright, just let it happen. Close your eyes, it's going to be ok. It'll all be fine, don't worry. There is no need to struggle.”
On the topic of accomplices, Yuuto would be happy to work with or for anyone who seemed to be nervous about preforming a killing on their own. He would hesitate to openly ask someone if they needed help, but if asked himself, he would be unlikely to turn them away.
“I actually...sorry, I actually didn't think you would be the type go through with it. If it's any consolation, I'll help you do it, whoever you chose. This shouldn't be something for one person to carry alone.”
Reaction prompt: Motive post from DA2W
That fucking bear was getting on his nerves again. Yuuto held his arm down on his towel, acting like he had to restrain himself from slugging that black and white furball right in the mug. He wouldn't of course. They had already seen what happened to students who stepped out of line and Yuuto didn't need to give anyone a heart attack by dying here carelessly. He relaxed his grip on his arm, listening to the bear give it's corny speech. Just watching it's clashing mechanical teeth made him sick to his stomach. Dammit, he already wanted to go back to the spa after this just to relax.
When the bear mentioned crippling a student, Yuuto definably felt like it was a jab right at him. He flinched a little, his teeth clamping clenching; was this bear trying to intimidate him? Some of his classmates might be able to survive without an arm or sight, sure, but for him to be crippled at all would spell death for his career. Even if he wasn't the one who would be crippled, letting another student get hurt like that would be the same as failing to save them in an emergency. But the only other option was murder. The horrible realization struck him in the chest: the motive was targeting him this time! Yuuto put his hand to his mouth before he said anything rash, though all he had to restrain was his urge call out the bear's bullshit. He could feel his heart starting to race now. The other students were probably looking at him funny. Was the EMT going to murder this time they were all whispering. How was the EMT going to deal with this emergency they all were thinking. Well he wasn't about to crack under pressure! Someone had to be the bastion of support here. It didn't matter if the motive was aimed at him, it was still just a part of this stupid game, and Yuuto didn't buy it even a little.
As soon as the bear finished it's spiel, Yuuto hurriedly walked back to the changing room, still unsure if he would change back into his causal clothes or just hop in the spa again. He took a few minutes in the doorway to steady his heart. There wasn't anything to fear, was there? No, it would be just like last time; someone would always murder someone else. It's not like he could prevent murder, he wasn’t a cop or something like that. Right. Purposeful acts of violence were completely out of his control, so there was not need to worry about it really. And if people started panicking about the motive then someone might need to play the role of the murderer to bring back peace. What was one person's life really worth if it could calm everyone down and prevent an accident? The end result was always the same, he just had keep the situation under control long enough for them to stay calm and figure out a way to escape. The longer he could maintain the peace, the more drastic the mastermind would have to get, and that meant more of chance they would mess up. Yuuto managed to force a tiny smile to his face with this thought, before returning to the changing room. Yeah, he just had to focus on staying alive, making the right choices, and this crisis would all be over.
“Hey, does anyone want to get back in the spa?”
Mastermind prompt: For Yuuto to be the mastermind, he would have had to have fallen into despair from seeing too many gruesome accidents during his job and losing hope that he could ever save anyone that way. This would eventually lead to him killing another student and finding much more joy from giving people the release of death, which he would then consider the ultimate salvation. Using the connections of his parents, he would take members of the hospital administration hostage and execute anyone who didn't pledge their loyalty to him. He would eventually turn his eyes back to Hopes Peak, judging that the students there were too stressed and needed to be put into a gentle sleep. A permanent sleep.
As a mastermind, he would create an atmosphere of total relaxation for the students one minute, before subjecting them to complete chaos the next. He would wait until the students couldn't even find solace in relaxing, before he finally granted them the peace of the grave. Of course, he would also hold their lives hostage as he broadcasted their deaths to the world in order to get more key world figures under his control. His ultimate goal would to put the whole world in a state of emergency. As additional “fun” prizes, any student who commits a murder and gets away with it, gets a nuclear launch code, able to reduce any single major city of their choice to ashes with just one button press. They can even try to target wherever they think they are being held. The catch, is that if Yuuto wins, he gets all the codes. Within the game of mutual killing, Yuuto would certainly set up his own “EMT team” of moles that worked for him, but who really were being told to watch and kill each other. All to create more chaos and doubt among the students before their peaceful (or sudden) demise.
“Gahahah you bastards are such a fucking bore! All you do is complain complain. Well you were the ones who killed your friends, I only gave you the opportunity, the chance, for you to release them of their pain. Because life is pain! Yes I am your savior. You're all going to die, and then you're going to thank me for it! I can't fucking wait to hear you beg for death.”
4. Yuuto mostly interacts with three groups of people in his job: other members of the emergency medical services department (EMS Department), doctors, and patients. With the EMS Department, a group composed of mostly EMTs and paramedics, Yuuto strives to maintain a healthy working relationship. He cares for their safety greatly and know to always put his team members first. They have become almost family to him after he started working as an EMT, now that he doesn’t see his family quite as much. He loves to joke with other staff members and always tries to be there to help calm them down when necessary. Since there is no set structure for dividing teams to respond to calls, Yuuto has to be friendly to all of them, as who he works with on the job could change from day to day. Yuuto can sometimes feel a little intimidated by the sheer number of people he has to know in the department, though luckily he usually only has to work in close contact with teams of 2-3 at a time for calls. During their downtime, they mostly play cards and make small talk. Many of the staff members smoke, which Yuuto is rather unappreciative of. Still, he respects their decision, even though he would never try it himself (not after all the horrible things his parents had told him about lung cancer.) He's not usually the leader of any of the teams he's on, as that role is taken by the more experienced paramedics. All EMTs are essentially paramedic's in training and Yuuto is no exception. It takes a minimum of five years as an EMT before one can become a paramedic and Yuuto is close to having two years under his belt. He has a huge respect for the department head and won't deny that he sucks up to them whenever possible. Of course, he also realizes that he is a long way off from moving up in the staff hierarchy, still needing a paramedic degree and years of experience before he would ever be considered for a higher level position. He would never even dream of holding a rivalry with anyone on the team as it could easily end up tearing them apart during a crisis. If anyone on his team starts fighting, Yuuto does his best to calm them or simply recommend that they transfer to a different hospital. The same goes for anyone who can't keep calm during a crisis; Yuuto refuses to work with them.
Hey! Let's go then...oh it was a mistake call? Shiiit... well I'm not going back to school this late. Can you deal me in on the next hand? Thanks. What are the blinds?”
Yuuto works at the EMS Department of St. Luke's International Hospital in Tokyo. Often remembered for handling the sarin gas attacks of 1995, the hospital’s EMS department has seen it's share of changes and improvements. As part of a nationwide effort to improve Japan's standards of emergency care, there is a increasing emphasis on collaboration between doctors and paramedics. As a result,Yuuto has to work with more then just his own department, but the nurses and doctors at each hospital as well. With the staff physicians, Yuuto again tries to keep a professional relationship with most of them. He knows a lot of the ones who are friends of his parents and even a few other that they talk about. For the most part he takes his parents words on whether a particular doctor is particularly experienced or professional. Yuuto works with doctors in the intensive care unit and ER on a regular basis, meeting with other physicians only briefly when delivering patients to their hospital. His relationship with many of the ER doctors has gotten better as he had to work with them on the field or ride with them in the ambulance on occasion. He tries not to show bias for which physicians he prefer, as there are still a large number of specialists who he never even sees. After work is done, if he's at the hospital his parents work at, or the university hospital his brother attends, he always tries to check in and say hello if they aren’t busy. He shows no hostility or anger to doctors who fail to save any patient his team brings in either, knowing they will be upset enough with themselves for their failure. Yuuto also has great respect for law enforcement and police officers, as he often has to follow their orders on the scene of an accident.
“Excuse me sir, Dr. Ozaki? Yuuto Ikeda, we met before briefly, my father's dinner party, a while back...? Oh you remember? Yeah yeah, you know my dad, and so I work here now too...but did you know where he is right now? Ok I'll check there. Thank you sir!”
With patients, Yuuto knows to never let personal emotions get in the way of providing sufficient care. It doesn’t matter if the one on the stretcher caused the accident; if they were injured, it's his team's duty to make sure they live. Yuuto never claims to be 100% successful either. He keeps a rough count of all the patients he's saved, and though he has had a high success rate, there are still a large number of patients who died under his care. Yuuto has seen too many EMTs quit after failing on just one job. There is a great deal of disgrace in any team's failure, but Yuuto knows that a good EMT learns from their mistakes rather then trying to escape them. Yuuto figures that if he always applies his absolute best effort, he'll never be disappointed in his failures and so far it has worked for him. He still remembers all the cases where patients died under his care much more clearly then those where the patient lived. He says he puts those memories to use every time he goes to work, so that he'll never make the same mistake twice.
“The hardest lessons I ever got came from when I messed up. It forced me to promise myself I’ll never experience that again. You don't see it getting me down though! So get up and give it another shot.”
Yuuto also enjoys working with patients too. He tries to find time to visit anyone he recently saved at the hospital and talk with them. The praise he gets after a job always makes him feel better after a tough day, though he sometimes lets it get to his head a little. Being able to calm people down in the mist of a crisis or comfort them afterward always helps Yuuto feel more calm himself. Those small interactions remind him why he loves doing what he does.
“Hello? Can I come in? Um, I was one of the medics at the crash... I put the oxygen mask on you, remember that? No? Well I just wanted to make sure you were doing ok. Need me to help with anything? The hospital can be hard to adjust to, I know.”
5. Yuuto would list three people as his biggest influences, and those are his parents and older brother. His parents have both had separate and similar influence on him. Yuuto's father is a primary care physician and his mother is a dermatologist. They both work at the same hospital as Yuuto. They interact a fair amount at the hospital, but mostly when at home. Yuuto almost considers them one person, as he rarely ever sees them apart except when they are at work. His family has a very strong relationship and they eat dinner together every night that they can, though Yuuto sometimes gets a work related call on his pager and has to skip out on it. His parents are also busy and not always around, though they have become better at being there for Yuuto and his brother now that they are older. They all enjoy sharing stories of their cases from the day or of anything interesting that happened at the hospital. These stories and exciting tales were what initially prompted Yuuto to ask his parents if he could shadow on an EMT team. All together, his family has as much fun that they can, eating out or going to karaoke when they have a night off. Yuuto has even been teaching them all the card games he learns at work, though his parents are less then thrilled at being forced to play poker over the dinner table. Overall his parents have been a very positive influence on Yuuto, even if they have given him some overly optimistic ideas about how other families are supposed to act.
“Oh yeah work was easy today. Just minor stuff you know, but hey did you see that guy in the lobby, the one coughing up the green stuff? Did you get him? Darn. No no I wasn't trying to joke about it, just thought it was interesting. What's that a symptom of anyway? Ohh...”
His brother, Shingo Ikeda, is seven years older then him and is in Tokyo University Medical School working towards a doctorate. Yuuto initially had little interest in becoming a doctor like his parents and it was only his brother's decision to go to college for a medical degree that made Yuuto finally open up to the idea. Though he would never admit to following his brothers choices as blatantly as that, it's true that Shingo has a huge influence on Yuuto's decisions, especially about his future. When they were kids, Yuuto always followed his brother's lead and only showed an interest in games or subjects that his brother liked. Their parents weren't always home, so the brothers spent a lot of time together, playing games and watching movies. When Yuuto would panic in bed, worried that their parents wouldn't come back till late, Shingo was the one who showed him how to calm himself by counting his heartbeats. They would often count together until they feel asleep and it was continued practice and use of this skill which eventually granted Yuuto greater control over his own heart rhythm.
“Ok deep breaths, deep breaths... it's all going to be all going to be alright, right bro? Yeah... And then we can all go the the park tomorrow together. It’ll be so fun...”
Their interests began to grow more separate as they got older and Shingo went to high school then college. Yuuto was forced to make other friends and build up his own hobbies in his brother's absence. He still enjoyed his brother's activities, such as baseball and watching TV dramas, but began to feel like they weren’t his own interests. He usually only plays sports or watches television while with his brother. They always try to meet up when there is a opening in their schedules. When together, they share stories about their work and also talk about trouble in their lives that they wouldn't bring up to their parents. Listening to some of the things his brother says about college and his experiences makes Yuuto realize that Shingo is becoming more and more of an adult. One of his greatest fears is that they will drift more apart in the future, even though he knows Shingo also cares deeply for him and that they will always remain brothers. Overall his brother's influence could be seen as positive, and though it was perhaps too influencing, Yuuto is fast becoming his own type of person now that they are more separated. Even though his job requires huge amounts of responsibility, Yuuto still feels like he hasn't found what it means to truly be an adult like his brothers and parents. Finding out what it means to achieve that emotional maturity is Yuuto's continuing goal in his life right now.
“Hey I was just checkin to see if you were done with classes, Thursday is your most open day right? Oh...hmmm... sorry I must have forgot. Well we can definitely hang out next week then. Nice. Ok. Call me then bro!”
6. Yuuto has a number of hobbies and other skills that he has developed over the years or ones that he has recently discovered in his time as an EMT. As a kid, Yuuto shared most of his hobbies with his brother, though his favorites were playing baseball and watching TV crime dramas. His brother was an avid fan of baseball since a young age, so him and Yuuto would often go to the downtown park and pitch at each other. Yuuto would occasionally join in on games with his brother's friends, but for the most part it was just an exercise they did while talking. He might claim that he still has a good pitching arm, but the reality is that Yuuto hasn't played any baseball in the last few years and is horribly out of practice. Their other activity together was watching crime shows, Like CSI or Law and Order type detective shows. For a long time, they both had wanted to be criminal investigators or forensic scientist and catch the bad guys using science! Their parents told them that most of those jobs required being a police officer first, which quickly turned the brothers away from the prospect. They still enjoyed the series, though Yuuto hardly has time to watch TV anymore, even with his brother. He mostly just checks the wikis online to keep up to date with the ones his brother still watches.
“Hey didn't you say something about a softball game with guys from college last time? Oh oh would it be alright if I came? Hahah no I'll be totally cool don't worry. You know your friends love me anyway. They say I'm actually the cute one... heyyy! It's true though, unless you shave that carpet off your chin. Whoa whoa! You know I'm just kidding.”
After becoming an EMT, Yuuto quickly developed an immense fondness for the card games and poker that the EMS staff played. What started out as the simple fascination of watching the other EMT's play on break soon became his favorite activity. Because an emergency could interrupt them as any second, the team plays a very fast placed style of poker, where stopping for just a minute is considered a call. They usually play fairly low stakes so nobody gets too upset and occasionally even play for smokes. They mainly play speed poker games like Texas hold'ems or reaction based games similar to Egyptian Ratscrew, but are just as likely to bust out a deck of Hanafuda and try a longer trick takeing game. Still, they mainly stick to short fast games. The other reason for this is that the department head encourages it, saying that reactions games help build up faster emergency responce skills. As a result, Yuuto is unsually fast at takeing his turn when playing cards with others, though a fast bet dosen't nessesarly mean it's a good one. Yuuto thinks that his clamness and confidence gives him a good poker face and in truth he is pretty good at bluffing through a bad hand. However, he's also extremely gullible, easily fooled by other people's bluffs and is clueless if someone is cheating. Yuuto most enjoys coming up with new ideas for card games that he forces on the staff or his parents. While it's his favorite hobby right now, he knows he isn't the best at it and just likes playing for fun.
“Ok, so you get two cards face down and the a third one face up, and depending on that, you get that many cards face up each round after, so ten for face cards. But so if you get a low card it works out because”....”depending on the suit”... “then betting goes on for one turn after”... “and if that happens you just split the pot. So do you get it? Dad! You weren’t even paying attention!”
His other skill/hobby is therapeutic message. Yuuto quickly became interested in finding other ways to relax people after working as an EMT for a time. His mother knew a few techniques as a dermatologist, and Yuuto also asked a chiropractor who was a family friend to teach him. While still learning, he's becoming better through practice and will often try it out on patients and staff members. He's currently focusing on learning manual therapy massages for the neck and lower back, areas that can often become injured or strained in car crashes or other common accidents. Other members of department are skilled in therapy as well and Yuuto has learned though watching them on the job. Even though Yuuto knows that a simple massage after an accident isn't a substitute for proper medical care and recovery, it's a nice touch that he feels helps ease patients pain, at least temporally. He also sees it as an important tool for erasing stress, taking his patients mind off their troubles on the ride back to the hospital. Yuuto greatly enjoys helping people this way as well as in emergencies as an EMT. He realizes he won't be an EMT forever and beyond continuing on his path to become a paramedic, he's also interesting in possibly becoming an chiropractor or osteopathic physician. While his parents aren't too fond of those fields, they do agree it would be better for Yuuto in the long run to look for a more peaceful career in medicine. Preforming a lengthy series of stretches after each nap has also worked it's way onto Yuuto's routine to avoid spraining himself at work. He likes to keep these private however, thinking that he looks a little silly while doing them.
“Could you show me some techniques for relocating a joint? I know it's not just popping it back in. Right. No I'm ready... no, I'm not going to use it for work. I just wanted to know, is that alright? Thank you. So what do I practice on?”
Because of his strange sleep schedule, when Yuuto is awake at night he'll use that time to do his school work. When there is nothing to catch up on, Yuuto enjoys to read in this alone time. His favorite types of books are all non-fiction, primarily first hand accounts of survival in the wilderness, historic battles, or natural disasters. Yuuto is always looking for stories that can compete with the excitement and danger he experiences on the job, as well as ones that can prepare him for more extreme situations. The more realism the better, and Yuuto likes the fact that there is little surprise to them (you know the narrator has to live as he says). Novels based on true stories are also good, but Yuuto sees no real reason to read fiction that isn’t based in reality. Occasionally, when he thinks he can sneak it under a larger stack of library books, Yuuto will check out a smutty romance paperback, reading it with red cheeks in the middle of the night, before quickly returning it to the library in the early morning before anyone knew he had it. If someone found out, he would probably die of embarrassment. Even though he's seen graphic nudity and violence on the job, haveing thoughts about love and sex make him extremely unconformable and ashamed of himself. He still forces himself to reads the romance paperbacks because he thinks they’ll help him get over it and make him more mature like his brother.
“Oh, it's Call of the Wild by Jack London. Yeah, he's like one of the classics. Sucks though cause not all his stories are translated. It's all about man versus nature, pretty harsh stuff mom, I don't think you'd like it.”
Those are my three main optional prompts, but I still wanted to give shorter one paragraph answers to some of the others, so here they are:
2. Yuuto was selected for the title of Super High School Level EMT mostly because he is one of the few working EMTs who is still in highschool. Other factors helped, like his status as a local hero at the hospital for saving a fellow paramedic and driving an ambulance for the first time without training. His parents were also able to pull a few strings from within the hospital administration to make the hospital recommend Yuuto's application for the title to Hope's Peak. His parents felt that sending Yuuto to a different and more prestigious high school would be a good opportunity for him to make new friends rather then having him continue to attend his brother's high school like he had wanted. With so much pressure on him to accept the title, he had no choice but to accept and is determined to make the best of it.
“Oh a new school? That's the first I heard about it though... no I'm sure you didn't tell me yesterday mom. I would have definitely remembered that. What's so special about this place? Huh... wow... so everyone is a different genius there? Well it sounds interesting for sure.”
3. Yuuto went to the same high school as his brother, a well respected academy in the intercity that was close to the hospital their parents were at. He didn't make many strong friends in any of his classes, but knew people well enough that they wouldn't push him around. He was ultimately regarded as much more reserved then his brother and difficult to befriend. Yuuto would often avoid group conversations for fear of embarrassment from his outbursts, leading to him acquiring a reputation as sort of a loner. Once he began his job as an EMT, it only became harder for him to interact with his classmates. His ability to plan for long term events or dates was quickly thrown out the window now that he had to respond to an emergency any time it came up. Yuuto actually enjoyed the sudden aspect of the job though, happy to have his schedule built by random chance. It was certainly easier then remembering all those dates. He also learned how to trigger his pager, using it to get out of class or any unwanted conversations. Even after school Yuuto left no time for a social life, filling his nights with more EMS related classes that counted towards a parametric degree. His grades certainly suffered at a result, but Yuuto knows he can't take the same academic path as his brother anymore and is only concerned with graduating so he can continue his career. Ultimately he just became more distanced from other students, who were never sure when they would see Yuuto next. His parents have stressed the importance of making better friends at his new highschool, in hopes he finds someone that he can care about as much as his brother (“Maybe even a girlfriend,” His parents recommend. “We want grandchildren someday!”). Yuuto begrudgingly agreed to their request to try harder, though he's still glad his job doesn’t let him plan for much of anything.
“Yes I tried to make a friend today. Really! There was actually a new girl who transferred in today... mom! Sure, I mean, I guess she's cute... I don't know I haven't talked to her yet! Ok. Yes, I'll try to tomorrow. No! I'm not going to ask her out! Mom!”
7. Yuuto's actions as a victim would depend completely on who he thought was attempting to murder him. If given the chance he would fight back and make as much noise as possible to draw attention to the attacker. However if attacked suddenly, he would most likely have a violent panic attack from the surprise, quickly pushing him into unconsciousness then death. If struck with a fatal injury, he would use his last remaining amount of energy to try and put himself in a peaceful position, or put a smile on his face at least. Dying messages would be only secondary to the presentation of his body. If he thought the murderer might listen to his last words he would definitely give them, but wouldn't speak if it wasn't someone he didn't know closely. He knows it's often unlikely that a patient’s last words ever reach their intended recipients, so he doesn't want to burden some random murderer with that or give them the satisfaction of denying his request. Just believing he might eventually see his brother and parents in death is enough to let him slip away peacefully.
“Can you tell my family that I did my best... ah it doesn’t really matter. They know. Just... tell them ...I'm sorry I couldn't do better.”
Other Information: Concerning Yuuto's attributes, a EMT needs to be well rounded in all areas. Yuuto feels that his willful calmness and berth of medical knowledge are his strongest traits, as he gets enough strength and endurance training while on the job. Adding a bit more to his back story: though Yuuto was hesitant about following in his parents footsteps, he asked if he could shadow an EMT team and ride with them. He found even watching their work was exciting and exhilarating. However, on an emergency response, the team's driver was injured by a sudden car accident and the patient fell into critical condition from blood loss. Though he had never even driven before, Yuuto drove the ambulance back to the hospital in time and stabilized the patient along with the driver. Most of the staff was impressed and allowed him to replace the injured staff member in the department while they recovered. Eventually the hospital offered him a full time position on staff, eager to have the youngest ever EMT under their employ.
Since you said this belongs in the other information, let me now just give a little cursory information about EMTs, paramedics, and emergency medicine in Japan. The main difference between the Japanese and American pre-hospital care is that emergency services are provided by the government in Japan. Even though Emergency Response Departments can be associated with hospitals that they work from, they work for the government and are considered public servants. In fact, the first Japanese paramedic's started as firefighters, and have only begun to become distinguished from then as of recently. Because it is a government service, there is no charge for ambulance calls and calling one for a minor injury is much more common then in America. As a result of this, paramedics in Japan are not as 'celebrated' as we might praise firefighters and paramedics for their bravery in the states. In Japan, paramedics are included with doctors in what is seen as a 'helping position' where they are the ones who give care and are not expected to receive any extra help or assistance from outside the medical community. This is one reason why the medical system in Japan is so slow to introduce helpful changes, because they risk appearing like something was wrong before and had to be corrected. So while it may seem a bit overboard for Yuuto to visit his patients after a job, it's the only way he can receive any praise from them, though simple patient-doctor small chat is kept to a minimum as opposed to American hospitals. They are payed roughly the same as their American counterparts (which is very well actually, up to 500,000 a year! Yuuto puts it all in his massive saving account of course). The courses and hours of practice required for the equivalent positions are also significantly higher in Japan then in America, as well as the level of knowledge (though paramedics in Japan are more restricted in tasks they are allowed to preform and only recently were paramedics there allowed to administer adrenaline or use a defibrillator even though knowing how to was a requirement to become a paramedic). The Japanese equivalent of EMTs are called SFACs (Standard First Aid Class) and the equivalent of paramedics are called ELSTs (Emergency Life Saving Technician). So even though Yuuto's title is technically shsl-SFAC, I'll probably use the American terminology for now just for simplicity because even though the acronyms are different, the positions are similar enough for the purpose of the game I believe. Changing it would be easy enough anyway.

((Yuuto wears scrubs and a green plad jacket over, with little white cords. That particular jacket is his favorite, as his mom bought it for him because it had the pattern of an EKG machine. It's growing small for him however. He always keeps a pair of purple latex gloves and his pager in the front pockets of his scrubs. He enjoys the scrubs so he can easily lose the jacket to blend in at the hospital or appear more professional during an off-work emergency. On the job he loses the jacket and dons his brightly colored EMT uniform and hard hat. Bellow his waist he wears dark blue jeans and white running shoes. Unfortunately his underwear is just plain gray briefs, no fun there, but he's extremely well toned underneath his clothes. Must be the from constant workout of the job...))
What are you looking for in Doubt Academy?: I've been rping for a while and I've come to find that the DR OC community is one of the absolute nicest around, full of loving people, many of whom I've become close friends with. I decided I would make my own oc and apply to a variety of groups, as numerous people said great things about their experience roleplaying in a larger game like this, and great things about doubt academy in general. After reading about DA and the previous games, I was blown away by the level of detail and care that went into the stories, the love of the fansbase, and I definitely want to be a part of that.
