Flint and Feldspar's paint is inspired a little by racing stripes, both with their tendencies to race eachother around the solar system (they've been banned from going on duo scouting missions for this very reason.)
Feldspar's cockpit glass is just perpetually cracked at this point, Slate has given up on replacing it each time and so instead just reinforces the weak parts. As far as tape can go as 'reinforcement'..
Gabbro ended up painting alot of the designs on Flint's lander since they suck at art themself, and if you look very veryyy closely there's a little 'Gab was here' written, they gotta sign their own work of course ::) It was put there by Gabbro as a little harmless joke although months down the line and Flint still hasn't noticed it.
Riebeck has been learning how to handwrite Nomai text, and so has incorporated some of it onto their lander. The single line of Nomai text towards the back of the ship is their name, which they painted on first once they finally got confident enough to do so. The rest of the Nomai writing was painted on at a later date and roughly translates to a bunch of affirmations and words of courage that they can read from inside their cockpit whenever they need them ::) (They're a little shy about it and won't actually tell anyone what the writing says, so pretty much only Flint, Hal and vaguely Hornfels knows about it)
Tourmaline and Hessonite are my beloved zoologist and botanist couple, they will be getting a proper introduction soon, I have an art piece in the works for them because they are so so dear to me
They both share a lander and go on duo research missions scouting out the flora and fauna across the solar system together ::)
Chert has their favourite constellations painted onto their lander, it took them an age to actually finish it since they wanted the spacing between each star to be as accurate to their maps as possible
Gabbro's paint definitely looks the neatest out of all of them, they're quite good at keeping a steady hand and like to create small art pieces in their spare time. Their lander paint is inspired a lot by the waves of Giant's Deep, they have a real deep connection with the planet so they thought they'd like to take a bit of it everywhere with them ::)
Esker decorated their ship entirely themself, its not as bright or colourful or flashy as the rest, but that's just how they like it really. They put a lot of love and effort into handmaking each individual tassel and painting every detail, and they're very proud of it

this is the oldest synagogue building in Indiana, and the 12th oldest still standing in the nation!
it was built in 1867 by Jacob Welschbillig for the Ahavas Achim Congregation, one of the state's largest German-Jewish communities at the time.
the structure was built in a unique variation of the Romanesque style and used mostly local materials, with the exception of the stained glass windows.
before moving into this building the congregation met in a storeroom above a gun shop!

Alexa literally records EVERYTHING you say around it and can store that data and send it to literally everyone and it’s on the Wikipedia page for Amazon Alexa under the Privacy Concerns section!

Just to add context for those not aware of the impact of this story.
The reason it was so important for narrative purposes, was that the plot concerns the visit of the Astronaut, in his completely opaque spacesuit, to a planet populated entirely by self-aware robots (originally from Earth) who have built their own society and are petitioning to be allowed to interact with Earth again as equals.
They have a democratic government and free choice of careers etc. as the orange robot serving as guide tells the Astronaut.
The Astronaut notices that there are two different types of robot on this world; the orange ones, who are in charge, gifted access to all information and facilities. and the blue robots, who are seen as more limited in function, have less access to information and resources, and are not allowed positions of power or as wide a choice of employment opportunities. Even transportation is segregated.
The Astronaut investigates further and discovers that the blue and orange robots are actually structurally identical, there is absolutely no difference between their potential or capbilities, and it is only because the orange are instucted by their Educator system to consider themselves superior, that the difference exists.
The Astronaut tells the robots they are not ready for re-alignment with Earth, until they come to terms with their own unfairness, and how Earth had had to deal with this issue themselves. When that time comes, the robots will be able to ally with Earth.
Then he leaves in his spaceship, and it's only in that one final panel that we see the Astronaut is black.
Not subtle, nor should it be, but for 1950 this was a breathtakingly powerful statement, perhaps the first of it's kind in the genre.
The black character was not a caricature, or comedy relief, he was a main character in his own right, a human who "simply" was black.
