Hi there! Here is a post that I'll pin to my profile so y'all can get an idea of who I am!
You probably know me as lanearoo on Discord and/or AO3, but I started my tumblr account twelve million years ago, before I had a desire for consistency. And I do really like being shunstanpike because it comes from a fond memory of a fun time with friends.
I'm currently (and for the foreseeable future) interested exclusively in wolfstar (other hobbies? what other hobbies?) but I've also been known to obsess over Our Flag Means Death, BTS, and the upcoming game Paralives. I'm always happy to chat about any of the above.
I like to write comedy with heart and action-packed stories with bonkers premises, but I'm also really really proud of my more emotional, angsty stories.
I love the mutual support of this community - I've read so much incredible work from you all and have learned a lot about being a better writer and a better person.
It should go without saying, but jkr is the scum of the earth. I do not support her horrible views and actions, nor do I support her work financially.
One of my favorite causes, if you're in the mood to see some good in the world, is GirlForward, an organization that supports girls who are refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers, through mentoring, tutoring, and safe spaces.

I wanted to finally share this Sirius and Remus drawing I never got around to post.
It took me a while to finish, and at first I felt like I could do it better so I put it aside and thought I’d redo it later. But as time passed, I started to like it more and more. Maybe it was the time I spent on it, or maybe I just got used to seeing it.
What I mean to say is: even if you feel stuck with where you are right now, or think “this isn’t good enough”, take a moment to recognize it for what it is: growth. Later on, you will realize how much you value those little steps your past self took, and see that it’s thanks to them that you are where you are now 🌱
i honestly to this day cannot understand how we were supposed to be rooting for remadora?? a strong, accomplished, well-liked female character is reduced to miserably pining after some tortured older man for like two books. remus is never described as having any interest in her and in fact rejected her multiple times!! tonks becomes depressed and withdrawn when remus doesn't return her feelings and then multiple other people in their social circle had to pressure remus to get with her (or at least i interpreted it as being pressured-- the guy never seemed very enthusiastic about it)!! THEN when they do get married and tonks gets pregnant remus ABANDONS HER and has to get sense talked into him by a seventeen year old. reaaaally do not see anything romantic about the whole situation idk. their relationship felt forced and imo resulted in terrible character assassination for both of them
It felt so forced and, for me, really great era appropriate representation of a queer man socially forced into a het relationship and the fallout from that. He showed zero interest in her romantically and I think felt obligated to return her affections because everyone said he should and guilted/pressured him into it.
Like it tracks so reasonably that he literally fled the scene when she got pregnant and lost his mind about it. Literally got into a physical fight with a 17 year old who chewed him out (because what 17 year old can understand any of these complexities outside of their own feelings of abandonment) and was further guilted into returning.
If we segue into what fodder canon offers us for wolfstar then we can open a whole other door for the role grief may have played in that pairing and Remus’s vulnerability and loneliness.
People give Remus a lot of shit for how he acted with his pregnant wife but I honestly relate to it on a spiritual level. If I was forced to have a relationship with someone I wasn’t in love with and have a child I did not want to have— I am not strong enough to endure let alone get my shit together to show up as a good partner or parent— I will be driving myself into the nearest lake, thanks for coming to my tedtalk.
No wonder that man threw himself in front of a curse in battle.
And for jk to do Dora dirty like that? We could have had such a cool female role model. But instead we got her throwing her career away to chase after a man who is allergic to commitment. Everyone deserved better.
I'm feeling so stupid right now because I genuinely don't understand the issue about the extra volunteer mods on MMCF. I get that someone(s) are upset that they weren't formally announced but... I don't get why?? One more person will know you wrote your fic before reveals....?? I don't understand the problem 😭😭😭 and if someone would be willing to explain it to me I would love to understand!!!
I'm trying to think of a scenario. If the person I disliked most in this world were in the fandom, and I just found out they were modding the collection and it hadn't been announced... I guess I would DM one of the other mods to let them know the issue with that individual.

May was a hell of a month. In chronological order:

our table at a convention! (we almost did two in a row but I got sick after the first one)
cool menu at a cool tea restaurant. although to have iced tea we had to pour hot tea over cups of ice and the pouring cups were not great for pouring. tea went everywhere. I'm convinced the servers hated us. (it wasn't our fault!)

a mid-way point of the office move-out that was the bane of my existence in may, particularly the last week of may

The sound of the world drops away, and Remus is extending both of his hands. On the top of each palm is a hearing aid. The other man’s mouth moves for a few more words, but Remus isn’t sure what he’s saying—he’s never been all that great at lipreading. When his pale-colored eyes stumble over his outstretched hands, his face grows flushed. Finally, mercifully, he shuts up.

The magician visibly deflates as scattered, unenthusiastic applause sounds through the conference room. Sirius almost feels bad for the man. There are probably few jobs more bleak than providing entertainment for a corporate networking event where everybody just wants to get drunk at the lobby bar or go to their room for a luxurious hotel wank that won't get interrupted by their kids. It's sort of the man's own fault for taking the gig, though. Kids' parties probably have a much more enthusiastic audience. Maybe Sirius should get his card and hire him for Harry's birthday.

I think I’m in love with you. He didn’t really know what love meant yet, or the difference between platonic love and familial love or the love that his parents claimed to hold for each other and their sons, but he felt it all the same, turning his entire teenage world upside down.
It didn’t take very long for Sirius to realize, however, that Remus didn’t feel the same way about him in return.
