I have a really hard time understanding why people like Gale. He is never pleasant to Katniss. He treats her like garbage, stonewalls her, punishes her for things she can't control. (OMG Katniss how dare you get publicly engaged to Peeta to save the lives of our families! You're supposed to be mine!) As if he is ENTITLED to her. She never wanted to have a boyfriend, get married, or have children, and now he's pissed that she's being taken away from him when she was never his to begin with.

He's too much like guys that get pissed when they were "friend-zoned." Bro, if just being her friend wasn't enough for you, when she had said all along that all she ever wanted was a friend, maybe you need to distance yourself. Smh

And that's not getting into how everything in their friendship is already incredibly transactional. How is anything going to be healthy if you are keeping score the whole time...?
