“Curiosity killed the cat you know,” He teased. “Hot yoga is pretty much you get put into a room that’s like 102 degrees and the humidity is put up to eighty percent and you do yoga for two hours.” Saying it out loud though he admitted, “It kind of sounds like torture when you explain it out loud. But it’s actually really good for you and with the heat, it helps with injury or preventing it.” He nodded his understanding though knowing a little bit about the other’s family from what Scott had told him before. “Interesting. I was just curious cause the movie scene popped into my head. That and shooting an apple off someone’s head.”

“Are you wearing clothes during that? Because damn, it sounds like it’s super hot in that room.” He didn’t even want to imagine Everett in that room without clothes doing his yoga, but his brain had other ideas and he had to shake his head to get that thought out of it again. “It sounds interesting for sure. Not that I am really a yoga type of person.” He smirked. “Do you want me to shoot an apple off your head?”

“What are your work hours?”

“Usually the morning shift at the moment.”

“This is just for fun. It’s something different outside of doing hot yoga and running on the treadmill at home and seeing the same view. I’m probably nowhere near as committed as you are to practicing for hours on end to perfect the skill.” He admitted with a paused, “I don’t know why it popped into my head, blame Disney, but is there archery competitions? I’m imagining that scene in Robin Hood where he disguises himself to compete? Is that a thing?” He asked just out of his own curiosity about the sport. 

“Hot yoga? Now you got me curious.” He chuckled. “I am not practicing for hours anymore. But I did as a teenager. I wanted to get out at home and do something, so hiding at the archery class was a great way to get out of the house and do something that keeps my head off of home.” He bit his lip and then nodded. “Yeah, there are archery competitions. But mostly on middle age markets and such. We also had them in the club and we sometimes have them here just for fun. Nothing too serious though. Not like with boxing or football.”

“It’s alright. Did you finish your drawings that you started at the coffee shop?”

“I’m pretty much down for anything that makes me look more badass than I already am - which takes a lot, but I figure weilding a bow and arrow is fairly unique around the typical masses,” Joey insisted, “If you had offered me knitting lessons, I would’ve turned you down.”

“Oh, believe me. People laugh at you sometimes when you take out your bow and arrows, but in the end they are all fascinated.” Scott knew from several shows he had done in the past that people were always laughing at first and then speechless. “So it adds to your badass factor, yeah.” He chuckled at the knitting lessons comment. “Well, I would be bad with knitting anyways.”

“One glass for you is one glass fewer for me, help yourself.” Lucas insisted and pushed the tray of champagne flutes closer to the male standing beside him. He held his own glass against himself almost protectively, touching along the base absently to keep his hands busy. “Me, calm down? We clearly haven’t met.” Lucas chuckled and then held a hand out toward the other male courteously. “I’m Lucas.” 

Scott took one of the glasses and took a sip before looking at the guy. He smiled and shook his hand before saying: “Scott, nice to meet you, Lucas.” He could see some family resemblance between Everett and him, although he probably didn’t want to hear that. “So this is all your work?” He asked and pointed at a few art pieces near them.

“I don’t know if that’s where he went, he did go around to the back of the building though, I just wouldn’t worry about paying him..” Shrugging, Caleb started to head back towards the sidewalk, “I think maybe he was having a bad day. We all have them right? So he was just giving you one as well.”

“Well, if he does his work he might just come back for the payment right after that.” Scott said. “And I have to leave for work now...well...he knows which one is my apartment. I’ll probably have a bill later tonight.” He walked to the sidewalk as well. “Sorry you had to see me being like that.” He sighed.

There was a typical New York attitude for you. Immediately skeptical of a favor. She didn’t know if New York was the man’s original home, but if it wasn’t he was fitting right in. Valentina laughed at the man’s slightly confused expression and question about what exactly he’d gotten himself into. Valentina shook his hand and brushed mid back length brown hair behind her shoulder, though the wind was determined to blow it right back in her face again while she tried to speak.

“The mafia,” she said, no sense of humor in her voice, but rolling her eyes to alert the man to her joke. “I grew up in Queens, where your plumber is from. I was friends with his brother in high school. I heard the rate and saw your face, and figured I’d forget I’m a New York native for a minute and help a person out. He gave you the price he’d have given me. So you owe me a drink. Or at least a street taco.”

Scott was happy that some people still cared about what others had to struggle with. He smiled. “Wow...thank you.” He said and ran a hand through his hair. “That’s really great of you. And you can have a street taco and a drink. I just saved 150 bucks, so you can have a meal and it would still be worth it for sure.” He sighed. “Or maybe free coffee in the morning for a week?” He could offer that at the store after all. And it would cost him nothing.

Beckett couldn’t prevent the smile that formed on his lips when Scott gave feedback on his dancing, though he brushed it off as the other just being polite. “You’re doing fine.” the younger male assured with a grin as body continued to move along to the beat. Surprisingly it didn’t take Beckett long to be stripped of his inhibitions, he wasn’t sure if it was due to the fact that he got lost in the music or he felt comfortable with Scott. Bringing his arms back down to his side, Beckett’s brave hands found their way to Scott where they rested on the small of his back, holding him as the two moved in sync to the music.

Scott wasn’t sure why he had never tried this before. Dancing with someone felt better than he thought, but it might just be because of the person he was dancing with. He didn’t feel that shy anymore and he actually felt comfortable with Beckett. It was nice. When Beckett rested his hands on the small of his back, he moved a little closer and moved with him. His own hands moving to the sides of Beckett and staying there. It was a weird feeling for Scott, touching someone else like this. He liked it though. He really did. A small blush spread on his cheeks.

Letting his arm come down and rest at his side while still clutching the bow, he took a step back as Scott came up with the bow and arrow. Hazel eyes watched as the other’s intensity as he drew back the string. It seemed so graceful and like the bow was just an extension of his arm. The arrow was released with such precision. Everett’s head turned, eyes tracking the arrow as it sailed through the air and hit the target dead on. “I highly doubt that would work.” He lightly laughed, “I know how to pretend that I look like I know what I’m doing, that is my job after all. But I think it takes a lot more practice to do that,” His hand wavering between the bow towards the target where the arrow still was.

Scott smiled. “Well, you might be right. It might take more practice. But there are days where even I can’t hit the target. Depends on my mood.” He shrugged. “But well, you got time to train. No need to be perfect right away, right?” He walked over to his water bottle and took a sip, his bow in his other hand. “Just try your best. I am sure you will be fine.”

The door was opened what seemed like hours later at the pace that Luke was moving and the male squinted against the light from outside. “I’m sorry it took so long.” he apologized, trying his best to hold his head up. “Just been a long night and I can’t seem to shake this migraine.” he exhaled, looking back up as the man stated that he had a package. “That’s strange.” he admitted. “I wasn’t expecting anything. It might be something I left at the old apartment.” he shrugged. He began to reach for the package, the movement sending a bolt of pain through his head once again. “Do I need to sign for this or anything?” he asked, placing the package just inside his door. “I guess I should tip you as well.” he nodded, turning to find his wallet which was currently missing.

Scott was surprised when the guy apologized for taking a moment. Others would probably just shout at him for being there at this time. He smiled. “All good, I have time.” He said and ran a hand through his hair. “I am sorry for waking you then.” He bit his lip. “You don’t need to sign and I don’t need any tip. We don’t mind doing this for our neighbours. You always need to be nice to your neighbours, right?” He smiled. “And when you need a coffee in the morning you’ll just think of the friendly barista from the coffee shop downstairs who brought you the package and come downstairs.”

The gallery opened a month later than planned but in the extra time given, Lucas was able to help the gallerist find a few more pieces that were authentic, very valuable, and – even more importantly in Lucas’s opinion – special. Without a deadline hanging over the heads of everyone involved with putting the exhibit together, they were able to value quality over the pace in which things came together and present a wonderful collection of theater material to be viewed for the very first time on the gallery’s opening night. It was busy but this was no surprise, Manhattan was home to Broadway which hosted some of the biggest theater productions in the world so there was an abundance of people who loved the craft. Standing near a tall table in a finely tailored suit, minding his own business and observing the observers, he was nearly startled upon the realization that someone was standing by him near the tray of bubbly. “Thank you for coming,” Lucas said with a kind smile while reaching for one of the flutes on the table, offering it to the person in his company. “Would you like some champagne? My nerves have got me nearly polishing off the entire tray by myself.”

Scott had looked around for a while and now stood aside. He wasn’t sure why he had come, but Everett had told him about the gallery opening of his brother and he had thought he’d check it out. He wanted to do things he had never done before after all - and visiting a gallery was efinitely part of that list. When the guy standing there talked to him he smiled and then realized it must be Everett’s brother - as he thanked him for coming. “One glass would be nice, yeah.” He said and then chuckled. “Well, it seems like everything is going fine so far. So you can calm down.” He smiled.

Luke’s eyes were heavy and the sun coming through the curtains of his apartment were making his migraine increase. He wasn’t usually one to sleep this late in the day, but being up all hours of the night with calls on the latest project, on top of the fact that he barely slept at all anyways. He could hear what he assumed was the faint tapping on the door and he groaned, placing his hand over his eyes to block out any sort of light as he began the trek through his apartment and towards the front door. “Coming..” he faintly called, unsure if there was even anyone at the door, but prepared to shoo them off as quickly as possible if they were.

Scott stood in front of the door, the package for the guy living there in his hands. He had hoped that he was home today as he had tried to deliver the package yesterday already and no one had answered. But he heard someone on the other side, so he relaxed a bit. It wasn’t easy for him to bring packages to people he didn’t know. But as the coffee shop accepted packages for all their neighbors all the time he sometimes had to do this. He smiled when the door opened. “I just have this package for you.” He said and bit his lip when he saw the guy - damn, he was hot.

Caleb was walking down the street, heading to work, when he overheard a conversation taking place. He wasn’t trying to eavesdrop..it just happened. And when he saw that it was the kid he had talked to briefly before, he knew that he wanted to do something. Taking a deep breath when the other retreated, he walked up to the stranger and handed him something, “It’s all set..” Soon after when he heard Scott coming back he shrugs, “He left..”

When Scott came back to pay the guy he saw Caleb standing there instead. “He left?” He asked and sighed. "I still had to pay him.” He ran a hand through his hair, nervous that he wouldn’t get warm water anytime soon now. “Did he go to work on my pipes or where did he go? Did he say anything?”

“Beckett,” he responded, leaning in so he could properly hear him over the booming music. “It’s nice to meet you, Scott.” his lips curving up into a boyish grin. A few short moments had passed and Beckett began to feel his nerves dissipate as he watched on to others around him, mirroring their movements. Bringing his hands above his head, Beckett inched closer to his counterpart, allowing his body to move freely to the beat. “No one has laughed at us yet, I think it’s safe to say we’re doing okay for ourselves.”

Scott smiled back at Beckett. “It is really nice to meet you, too.” He just said and danced with him. He was surprised that no one really watched them, but maybe they weren’t that sepcial with this. “Well, you are not that bad with dancing.” He said and smiled. “And I am not that bad apparently as well.” He moved a bit closer to Beckett when some people around them moved and for a moment he didn’t know where to put his hands. He was close enough to just place them on Beckett’s hips, but he felt a bit shy about that.
