Jessica was snuggled up on her couch eating ben and jerry’s ice cream. She was watching one of her favorite shows ‘say yes to the dress’ when she heard a loud round of thunder. With a squeal, she jumped and clung tightly to her blanket. The blonde was not a fan of thunder, even though her momma said that it was just people up their bowling. She still didn’t like it. Reaching for her phone she dialed a number and put it up to her ear. Just then another loud boom started up and Jessica screamed, dropping her phone. “How about y’all stop your bowling up there! Some of us are tryin to watch tv!”
Apparently the thunder didn’t care because it kept going and only got louder with each time. All of Jessie’s friends knew of her fear of thunderstorms so it would make sense for them to show up at her house to check up on her. In the moment though Jessica wasn’t thinking and when the bell rang she about had a heart attack. “Who’s there?” She called out, before clinging to her blanket once more.
as the sky began to grow dark, sibella was still miles from her home. she was exhausted, sweaty, and just plain tired. she had decided that the weather was nice enough to go walking, leaving her car in the driveway. however, a few hours later, the sun burned brighter and hotter than ever, leaving sibella to sweat mercilessly as she walked from location to location. but soon enough, the blistering heat turned into sprinkling water. part of her thanked the sky, as the water provided momentary relief to her slightly burned shoulders. but the water churned on and on, and the sprinkling water later turned into heavy rain. everything about her was now drenched. so she ran to the nearest house with a porch, taking shelter under the awning. a muffled, unfamiliar voice came from inside. “a stranger,” sibella replied, unsure of who was on the other side of the door. “my name is sibella sinclair. i’m eighteen years old and i’m going to be a sophomore at the university of west virginia in the fall. i know, i’m kinda young, but i skipped third grade,” she said with a giggle. “i’m triple majoring in astronomy, physics, and mathematics. i’m just trying to take shelter on your porch ‘cause i’m pretty far away from my home and i don’t have my car with me. trust me, once the rain stops, i’ll get an uber or something and i’ll be out of your hair.”

“i’m pretty sure that the only thing i like about being ‘grown up’ is that i can spend over fifty bucks at the arcade and no one can tell me not to. but that’s literally the only reason i can think of right now. unless you can tell me another one.”
“considering i’m barely an adult, i’d say that’s just about the only thing i can come up with, although i’ve never tried it.”

“HE LIKED IT! HE LIKED IT!”
“WHO LIKED IT? WHO LIKED IT?”

“An image is a distortion of truth, when you take a picture you are capturing a moment that is already in past, no matter how many times you look at the picture it will never be real again. You create a facade and look fondly upon it, but the time is gone, and soon the photo will be lost in the rest of the memories that you captured and then forgot about,” Cammie looked up from the paper, inspecting the face of the person in front of her, her eyebrows raised slightly. “Well? What do you think? It’s only a chunk and I need to revise it, but I think it’s going somewhere.”
“i like it. i, personally, don’t think it needs any revision. but then again, i’m not the best at essays. what class did you say this was for again?”

“So I just tried a vegan burger and– I’m sorry but… how the fuck do they manage to do this everyday?”
“quite simple: their ideals are more headstrong than their appetite,” sibella joked.
lilaeaston:
It hadn’t been that long of day. Going to the college she graded a few papers and had some small talk with her colleagues. They talked about Summer plans and each others families. “How is your husband?” “How are your children?” being common phrases that would come up in conversation. When Lila’s turn to talk came she bragged on her daughter, talking about her college life and smiled happily, like a proud mother, because she was one. After a few warm hearted conversations she headed to to the grocery store to pick out a few items to snack on as well as for dinner. When she got him, Lila continued with her normal routine and began to make dinner. Hearing her doorbell ring, she raced out of the kitchen, hoping it wasn’t some silly kids playing ding, dong, ditch again. Wrapping her hands around the door knob, she opened it wide, make sure she was face to face with the other person. “Hello?”
astronomy professor michael sinclair was out of the country for the beginning of the summer. he took a plane on the last day of finals week to paris, leaving taking his students’ papers with him. so when the university called the sinclair household to come back to tie up a few loose ends, sibella had no choice but to go in herself. she tidied up her father’s lecture hall and took home personal belongings that he had left on his desk. she cleared his voicemail, but not before listening to them. most of them were students asking for an extended deadline on their projects and papers. never in your wildest dreams, sibella thought in response. the latest one, however was a reminder for the last professor meeting before the summer. should i go? sibella pushed through the doors of the teacher’s lounge, already full with adults. okay, good, everyone’s busy socializing. thank god there won’t be some spotlight time for the absent professor sinclair. however, much to sibella’s dismay, the professors gathered in a circle and began talking about their summer plans. so sibella stood, introduced herself as her father’s daughter, and talked about the astronomy convention in paris and his research in houston with nasa. the day soon came to an end, and she had offered to help clean up after the end-of-the-year party. a lone purse in the corner sat unclaimed. searching the purse, she discovered that it belonged to lila easton. holy shit, my future english professor. about an hour later, she found herself vis-à-vis with her. “uh, you left this earlier today.” she held out the bag with a smile.

“what’s worse, looking jealous or crazy?”
“...or like, being walked all over lately, walked all over lately, i’d rather be crazy.”
gvselas:
“ meu deus, i almost forgot to tell you about last weekend — so, on saturday night, after agreeing to go on a double date with my co-worker the thursday beforehand, the four of us went out for drinks at beck’s. in all honesty, it wasn’t half bad. maybe it was the alcohol, but i quite enjoyed myself, and my date was the perfect gentleman .. well. as perfect as any gentleman can be in georgia. anyway, longa história curta, after a couple of hours, the four of us retreated to my date’s house to watch GoT since i’d missed the last episode, and again, the night was going superbly, but because of all of the drinks i’d quaffed, my bladder was akin to a racehorse’s, so i excused myself to my date’s bathroom, and sitting atop his toilet was a package of wipes labeled ‘DUDE wipes’. it may as well have had a slogan underneath the title, like ‘DUDE wipes: so you won’t feel emasculated while wiping your ass like a lowly lady’. once i was done laughing until i was dangerously close to peeing all over the floor, i used the ‘oh, my son’s babysitter just called, i have to leave right now,’ excuse to get the hell out of there. i can’t believe men are so fragile that they need their own manly brand of baby wipes. ”
sibella’s tea went sputtering at the mention of ‘dude wipes’. “that’s so funny! i mean, truly incredible. i love a good story about the fragility of the male ego. but this just makes it even better! i mean, they’re willing to pay more money to further separate themselves from women and children. i mean, if the general male attitude is ‘get money, fuck bitches’, then why are they willing to lose money to protect their egos?”
“so, are you going to go on a second date with him?”
evcrett:
‘ i just showered for the first time in like – five days, and the sheer amount of flour and paint that came off of my body and out of my hair was astounding. i swear to god – it should’ve been some sort of photography exhibit in an art gallery. i don’t even care how gross this might make me sound, it was incredible. ‘
“and why exactly were you covered in flour and paint?”
d4niellesavoye:
“I got totally sunburned today; my whole back is red. But, I’m just glad I got to ride my bike. I love when it’s sunny.”
“holy cow, i haven’t ridden a bike in years! ever since i got a car, i’ve forgone every other form of transportation. okay, just answer me this: the sunburn, the heat, and the sore muscles: was it worth the bike ride?”
adcrc:
‘the highlight of my weekend was some hottie from out of town offering me $200 to snort coke off my rack during my break and that’s basically how i got myself a $90 lipstick’
“that’s...impressive, i’ll be honest.”

“why can’t i get this right!” Armani sighed in frustration looking at her art work. she huffed as she walked along the side walk holding her art work in one arm keeping her head down in shame keeping her face covered so the people who bypassed her couldn’t see the hurt in her eyes her art meant so much to her she hated when she messed up. she made her way to her favorite diner ihop sitting at a booth she sat her art work next to her as the waitress approached her she sighed “ coffee “ once she finally raised her face up she noticed the booth was taken “ooh i’m so sorry i wasn’t paying attention i’ll move if you’d like “ she said her voice breaking as she spoke to the person sitting across from her.
because her father was out of town for the annual astronomy convention in paris, sibella was responsible for feeding herself for the next few weeks. today, she felt particularly lazy. still in her pajamas of a large t-shirt and shorts, she drove to ihop. she was led to a booth, and while she took her time surveying the menu, she still settled for a simple stack of pancakes with strawberries, bananas, and whipped cream. she pulled out one of her textbooks, reading silently and making notes in the margins. suddenly, a girl slid into the booth across from her, and seemingly didn’t notice sibella sitting across from her. “no, no, stay,” sibella said. “i insist, really.” when the waitress returned with her coffee, she told her, “please put it on my bill.” she turned to the girl in front of her. “what’s wrong?”

“On a scale from 1-10… How upset do you think my roommate will be that I came home with a dog instead of groceries?”

“ honest question—- do you think after a star makes it big they can just go back down to earth & live peacefully or do you think that they’re forever just going to shoot through our lives until they burn out? ”
“stars? well, after they get big, it’s simply the beginning of the end. since their birth, hydrogen atoms were fused together to create helium at the core of the star, thus creating energy. there will be a point in the future when the hydrogen runs out and then the helium will be used as the energy source for the fusion, creating even more energy, causing the outer layers to expand, you know, ‘make it big’. then, like i said, it’s just the beginning of the end. the red giant will continue to expand, and the force of gravity gets weaker and weaker. at that point, there’s a moment of instability, and then it expands out into a planetary nebula. and still, the outer atmosphere will continue to drift farther and farther away, until all that’s left is a white dwarf star, the dead core of the of the star that it once was. oh, and that’s just for the regular stars! the bigger stars are really fascinating--”
“you weren’t talking about actual, literal stars, weren’t you?”
