my official proposal for the bend it like beckham sequel:

jess and jules have both been back in england for years after living in america, and are estranged. jules plays a big role in the FA, trying to garner support for a women’s league. she proposes a charity game with her hold team but needs players. she turns up at jess’s house, having not seen her in years. jess is not happy to see her. jules convinces her to play again, reminding her how much she once loved it. jess has more important things in her life now, a daughter she’s raising alone after her divorce. but jules convinces her. they grow close again. very close. we get flashbacks to their time in america, where we learn they almost slept together back then, only jess got cold feet and effectively ended their friendship. they train together again, jules announces that the game is going to be televised idk for charity or something. wacky hijinks ensue as we see the rest of the old cast, jess’s mum bringing the team snacks and her dad being their biggest fan. jonathan rhys meyers is NOT there. the day of the game arrives and jules and jess are alone in the changing room before everyone arrives. jules confesses that she’s still in love with jess and regrets not telling her sooner. they almost kiss but everybody starts to arrive and they’re interrupted. they play the game and it’s a tough one. jess gets hit by the opposition or something and falls to the ground. jules runs to her side, scared because she’s not really moving. jess gets up finally and takes the penalty kick, getting it in of course. everyone cheers and jules goes nuts, running up to her again. she falls just short, not wanting to overstep. jess rolls her eyes and closes the small gap between them, jumping into her arms and kissing her. their friends cheer. jess’s daughter - trying to get them together all along - cheers. their parents, although surprised, start clapping too. the end scene is jess and jules and jess’s daughter playing soccer in the backyard with their family and friends. end credits.

Expectation: Happy family, healthy childhoods, Shang-Chi and Xialing grow up to be Nick and Astrid Young from "Crazy Rich Asians"

Probable reality: Ying Li says that their family will never be at peace until all of Wenwu's enemies are destroyed, thus leading to Wenwu restarting the Ten Rings again. Shang-Chi and Xialing grow up to be loyal members of the Ten Rings. The whole Xu family go down a path of darkness out of paranoia that they'll be attacked again.
