Garden update: spring is here and I’m rearranging the patio garden. Some snails made it into the greenhouses and got into my plants. Garden update: I know it's been a while, but not much has been happening with the plants. It's also been dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home, and gloomy on the weekends, preventing much photography. Anyway, here's a size and color comparison between my two rhizomatous Begonia hybrids--'Dark Mambo' on the left and 'Black Coffee' on the right. What you're seeing is the sam anatomical structure in wildly different scales. 'Dark Mambo' (photos 3&4) is a small plant right now--and is a more compact hybrid in general--and 'Black Coffee' (photos 5&6) has become a sprawling beast, haha! Garden update: new greenhouse situation to deal with the down-to-freezing temps and cold winter rain. The covers zip closed to keep it dry and a couple degrees warmer, and then I can toss a frost cloth over the whole thing if it dips below 30°F. The mesh on the shelves is too big (about 1"X1") so I want to get window screen or something to lay over them and prevent pots falling over. Until then, the trays on the shelves keep the little pots upright.
