Loud screams and shrieks came from the building behind Nerida causing her to look back in shock as she saw all the people run out of it. Then Nerida narrowed her eyes knowing it was all too much of a coincidence that those lights had just happened to go out as soon as she left. Perhaps another inhuman, she wondered? Maybe thats who they were really looking for and just happened to get lucky when they saw Nerida in the middle? Shaking her head casually, Nerida’s eyes scanned the place once more before whispering and giggling in the girls ear next to her. The girl besides her nodded with a smirk before taking Nerida’s hand and leading her away from the crowd, closer to a sidewalk that was a bit more populated with cars. Though given that the people coming out of the location she was recently at, were all racing to their cars and driving away, all the streets became more populated. Nerida mentally told herself to relax, that there was no way that the stranger who wanted her would find her. Suddenly the girl who held her hand tugged it out of Nerida’s grasp cursing and whining about how cold her hand was out of nowhere. Swallowing hard, Nerida forced a smile on her face and gave a casual shrug arguing that she suffered from blood circulation. However, the girl’s eyes did not believe her as she started to back away slowly. Well….shit, thought Nerida. This was not helping.
The chaos, the mayhem, Lincoln had created had served its purpose beautifully. In the distance, he could already hear the sound of sirens approaching. This place would be crawling with firemen, and whoever might nurture an interest in catastrophe, soon. Lincoln was pushing through the bystanders in a rush. He had to find her before others did. Odds were, they would both be in trouble if either of them ended up caught. Randomly, Lincoln chose a direction in which to walk. There wasn’t much he could do about it. He wasn’t a tracker, so, there wasn’t anything he could do to improve his chances, unfortunately. “I’ve lost her,” he appeared to be talking to himself. However, it was just him speaking to the earpiece that connected him to the rest of the team. “I know,” came a prompt reply, and in the background, he believed he heard fingers hitting keys on a keyboard. “We’re trying to triangulate the location, but people are beginning to crowd the streets making it hard for our face recognition software to work. Proceed carefully,” The person speaking to his ear concluded the thought. “Great,” he was sarcastic. “I can still hear you, Lincoln,” the person pointed out. “Sorry, still getting used to these devices,” Lincoln was sheepish. He hated having to wear that earpiece. It was like having someone stuck in his head, sharing his thoughts with him. In a completely accidental occurrence, Lincoln landed eyes on the asset once more. Someone was backing away from her in what he would surmise was panic and crashed into him. “Leave,” he said in a hard tone and watched as the girl disappeared. “I don’t know what it is that you’ve done, and there isn’t time to talk about it. We need to make ourselves scarce.”
Neridas jaw tightened as soon as her eyes landed on the stranger again. Well, shit....she mentally thought. Her eyes flickered back and forth behind him and around him wanting to find a way out. "I haven't done anything." She snapped and rolled her eyes before looking around them at the chaos. Sighing, Nerida swallowed hard before staring at him and saying,"I'm assuming you guys have some sort of escape plan or something? I know the area but we need to grab a car or motorcycle." She stated when suddenly she saw men with black uniforms and dark glasses. Glasses at night? Really? So not suspicious at all. "Forget it, we're running." She demanded as she took his hand and dragged him with her down the crowd of people running and cars racing right along side of them. Trying to blend in right now would be nearly impossible since either the stranger or her had been spotted already by those guys with the weird glasses-who knew what those glasses could do. Nerida let go of his hand fearing that it was already starting to get too cold to hold him. Scanning the area she saw a guy flirting with a girl at the hood of his car but had carelessly left the driver door open. "Think your friends can lead us out of this mess?" Glancing over at him one last time before she quickly and quietly got into the car and locked it once pretty boy was inside.
