#every time I see this picture I am briefly overwhelmed#this piece of art outlived its context and milieu#but. but. in reality there is no such thing#because art is made anew with every glance. it comes to life. awakens laughing#and time compresses. softens. the past is not so much a mystery if we remember we weren’t the first to dance.#this is what art is for#this is what it can do#it doesn’t only speak to us of our own humanity#it reminds us that humanity is shared. this girl isn’t dancing in a mirror. she is dancing with a friend.#paintings don’t simply show us the world. they help teach us how to live in it. But he's right
hedonism is good actually rich people just suck at it
i think not only do we have a moral obligation to preserve human life but also a moral obligation to maximize the pleasure of others and ourselves (provided it doesn’t hurt anyone)
people don’t just deserve to eat food, they deserve to eat good food that tastes good without worrying about nutritional content
people don’t just deserve clothes, they deserve nice clothes that are well made and fit their personal style
people don’t just deserve the bare minimum, they don’t just deserve to be alive, they deserve to live and have nice things for no other reason than making that particular person happy

I hope Nael knows their poem made me cry
Rebageling again because... what gets me most about this interpretation is the softness. When I read the poem, I read it as exultant and fierce. The tiger within was the tiger burning bright of another poem’s fame. The tiger destroyed his cage, and who knew what next now that he was out.
Here, we’re given an answer. The tiger steps out and is surprised by the soft grass under his feet, delighted, goes wide-eyed with wonder, and leaps into the meadow. Here, the focus isn’t the cage’s destruction, but getting out, being out, so that the last glimpse we’re given is the tiger now tiny (and joyful!) in the distance, surrounded by the wide green expanse of freedom.
i mean this in the nicest way possible you guys but you NEED to take better care of yourselves online. getting severely anxious about mass quantities of horrible things you cant change every single day is normal considering the internet’s ability to educate on worldwide issues, it shows that you have empathy and that you truly do care. but relentless knowledge of constant suffering on this scale is NOT something humans are psychologically equipped to handle. it’s okay to shut off. it’s okay to just take a break and enjoy yourself for a while in your own localized space
It was half meant as a joke, but I recently read a post that was something like “If you’re not outraged, you’re probably setting understandable boundaries with the news you consume online”, and I still haven’t stopped thinking about it
