Honey Carrot Banana Bread
18.7 miles in the bank this morning. So thankful for strong legs that make doing what I love feel so easy. I have the best runs when it’s gray and dreary…it’s my favorite weather. Such a perfect morning. But now I’m driving myself insane that I didn’t just go ahead and hit 19 LOL WHYY 😭👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
can’t wait to meet my future dog
some days u just feel like crawlin’ into the fridge, y’know?
Some chocolate-y peanut butter-y goodness 🙈✨ cause it’s almost Friday! And almost Halloween 🎃 (But mainly cause chocolate is always a good idea; Reese’s will always be my fav 😋) - Do it: a couple of frozen bananas, heaping spoonful of cacao powder, splash of vanilla almond milk, cinnamon • blenddddd✨ • top with creamy peanut butter + a @justins peanut butter cup 🤓

“I start a million projects, and I finish about a third of them...”
If this sounds familiar to you, then you are in the right place and I welcome you with open arms!
This blog is, as you might have guessed, yet another project that I have been meaning to start for a long time but just haven’t found the time to do so. However, as I am digesting the events I took part in this weekend and my dinner (chicken leg, beans, rice, veggie broth soup, and a piece of banana bread...I eat a lot yes) I figured that this is as good of a time as any to start something new.
So let’s start with some introductions:
Name: Samantha, but I have gone by Sami my entire life. I may decide to go by my full name one day, but that day is not today.
Age: 21.
Occupation: Student. Currently studying abroad in Lima, Perú. You´ll hear many stories about my time here, at least until December.
TV show obsession: Grace and Frankie!
Fav food: PEANUT BUTTER. and tacos. But right now, peanut butter, only because it is SO unavailable here in Peru, and really all other Latin American countries. It’s a tragedy.
Anything else?: I am figuring out how much my body is capable of doing and loving every minute, every process, and every moment that it takes for me to do so.
Yes. Moving on.
This weekend I had the most AMAZING opportunity to compete in my very first road race--a 10k! I had been hoping to do a race here, so I really started training at the end of July when I first got here. When I looked at the events coming up, this was the one that fit into my schedule around midterms, exams, and travelling plans best, so it was the one I went with. And WOW! I was among all the local Peruvians, who all seemed to know each other, but who all were so incredibly welcoming and sweet towards me and wanting to take a million photos with the “extranjero.” The actual race was fairly brutal, I must admit, but I think that had a lot to do with the fact that this was my very first race. I did, however, finish in less than an hour, which was my goal! So I am very pleased with myself for achieving that.
I also realized that I was the youngest there by at least 20 years. It was absolutely mind blowing for me though, being around the 50+ year old runners, who have obviously participated in these types of events all their life, and were in far better shape than I was. They were the true inspirations that day, and I hope that I can one day inspire another young person, as I kick their butt to the finish line as I had mine kicked that day hahah
So anyways, I have been an avid follower of health/fitness blogs since my Junior year in high school when I got really interested in nutrition and yoga and such. But have never wanted to blog for myself, up until now, so these are the blogs/YouTubers I REALLY love and look up to b/c of how freakin’ great their attitudes are and how they share their love for all things health:

Buuut yeah! One day I may also make some Vlogs and play around with that, but until then, hopefully my photos will suffice, and hopefully I keep my habit of sticking with things until the end (like the 10k).
In all seriousness though, the health community is one of my favorites to be a part of. the positivity and support that you all share with each other is incredible. so I just thought: why not join ‘em?
“I run because it’s so symbolic of life. You have to drive yourself to overcome the obstacles. You might feel that you can’t. But then you find your inner strength, and realize you’re capable of so much more than you thought.”
