Dear Ex-Friend, How are you?
I hope the mess you used to tell me is getting smaller.
My life? Well. not so much. I have thesis to fight for. I’m getting closer to both our friends and I’m still talking to your ex-boyfriend, he has been doing great lately.
Dear Ex-Friend, I hope you would take a look on this open letter someday. As much as I want nothing to do with you, you deserves an explanation and I have to tell you the truth of why I shooed you away from my life.
I know you’re not a bad girl, but you’re a complicated person. Also, there’s something in you, a negativity, that kept me doing wrong. Also, you lied so many things to me, which led me to confusion. I couldn't decide every words that came from your little lips, were lies or truths.
You also kept hurting your ex-boyfriend, that happened to be my close friend. You never knew how hurt he was because of you. How he frequently texted me at nights because you blamed him, you hung out with other guys and texted other guys with flirtation in it. You can blame him for his infidelities, you can blame us for talking behind your back, but you have to reflect yourself. If it wasn't because of your reckless actions, it wouldn't have ended this way.
You hated me because you thought I have everything you ever wanted. Some of the time, you exploded out of nowhere and you slipped those words “I envy you because you are not alone”. or “your problems are not bigger than mine.” I. seriously. hate. those. words. You never knew what I’ve been through since childhood. Your attention was only to yourself and underestimate other’s problems. You used that as justification that you need more attention for yourself. You forgot that I have problems too, there were long nights where I couldn't sleep because of the trauma I never speak to anyone else.
When you became his girlfriend, all you ever talked was about him and him and him. You didn't care how i was doing or how stressed I was. I had crappy days back then, you never asked. Funny thing was, you kept saying “you are the best friend I ever had.” but you acted the opposite of those words. This was one of my wake up call that you didn't really care at all about others and I was beginning to realize that I had to be available every time you need me, and you could be unavailable for me. One day, you realized I stopped spilling my stories and you asked me why. I didn't feel the urge to tell you the truth, because I grew tired of you. All you ever cared was your relationship with him, his infidelities, your alibis and your life.
It reached its peak when you locked three of us out of your room. We begged you to open the door. You kept pushing us away. That was your true colors, you said you hate me. I realized, what you had just spilled was the truth, the answer I was never expected. From that moment, I decided to not trusting you. I decided to stay away from you. When two of us had gone, you opened the door only to your ex. Hours after, you texted me, and your reason was “I envy you because you never be alone and I’m alone.” I was already tired with your shits and lies. I wanted nothing to do with you.
Then, you hurt my good friend, your ex-boyfriend. He often texted me at nights and telling me how broken he was because you kept doing that to him. I was slowly hating your existence.
Remember the night you got hospitalized and three of us waiting your parents to come? Well, both of us did that for our friend’s sake, not for you. We were and always loyal to him, not you. You know what? I didn't feel anything when I saw you there, laying helplessly. I felt nothing but disappointment.
The guys are like my older brothers I never had. I wouldn’t let anyone to hurt them, like they wouldn't let anyone hurt me. So, I braced myself to be more vocal and bravely pointing at your mistakes. You grew to resent me more, I knew that. You didn't want to be the one whose faults are pointed at. You didn't want to be criticized. You’ve always wanted to be “she was always right because she is a girl.” Boys and girls are always making mistakes, so do I, so are they. We’re always equal in making mistakes.
I knew what he did was wrong, I knew what I did was wrong, but like my twin sister said to you, I would never talk about the person behind their back if it has no reason.
And you should know too. The person who had been warning me to stay away from you was my twin sister, not the guys. She warned me because she smelled something wasn't right about you and it was dangerous to be your friend. I didn't listen to her, until what she told me became reality. My twin and I were really trying to help you, but you always shrugged them off as if our words weren't really important, but you kept asking for help from us. She finally told me “Why should you help a person who doesn't need helping, but keep asking for help? The words are useless and you waste your time for a person like that.”
Now, you keep talking behind my back about what I did, keep blaming me and show the world that you are obviously the person with full of miseries in life and you deserve attention. Well, you do need blame yourself first for the bad things that ever happened to you. No smoke would ever spread if there wasn't the trigger, Fire.
I don’t need someone like that in my life. I hate such negativity filling my life. I already have my own drama and problems, so I saved myself by staying away from you.
I dont hate you, I nothing you.
Because you made me disappointed. It cut me deeper.
So I want nothing to do with you anymore. I let you live and I keep living my own life.
