This started in 2020 to give people access to books during the pandemic. The program has been continued to combat censor ship. Please spread the word.

the mental picture of the triumphant return from war but instead of handsome uniformed men on horseback it’s just the greasiest most pathetic looking eyeliner-covered emo boys walking off of a tour bus is so unbelievably funny to me
this has gotten quite a bit of attention recently so i just wanted to say–if this is of any interest to you, i just finished my 50 slide long pop-punk much ado production pitch (complete with companion playlist). i'm turning this in as a culminating project for my time studying at oxford so please enjoy!

Okay. In case the overwhelming amount of notifications you probably got from me today didn't tip you off (sorry about that) I stumbled upon this today and I LOVED IT! It was so true to the spirit of the original while fixing the things that bugged me about the original (the watch scenes, hero and claudio making up). Thank you so so so much for putting in all the time to make something so amazing and for sharing it with us! If you ever do something similar I would be thrilled to get to watch it play out slowly instead of binging it all in one morning, lol. Anyways you rock and I hope you have an amazing day/night!!!
thank you SO much! that really means a lot to me! i've tried multiple times to draft something similar, but i just sort of got lucky with sigh no more. i really had so much fun creating the fake bands and interviews. if i ever find another magic combination of retelling + modern setting, i'll definitely advertise it here to let you all know!

Just wanted to say i really love all of your edits! Your tell me a story and final girl series especially are incredible!! I’m sure youve already answered this, but I wanted to ask who the cast for sigh no more is? I recognize some but not all of them. I know nothing about Much Ado About Nothing but your series on it has me interested! Maybe I’ll watch the movie? (I think theres a movie right?)
aw thank you so much! i love making those series! i have a list of all the characters and who their face claims are on the character page here! if you click on each character, a pop up will tell you more information!
there are a few different much ado about nothing movies around! if you can find them, my two favorites are the filmed stage productions- the david tennant and catherine tate one looks like it's available here for now and my other favorite is available in parts on daily motion here, starring the beautiful danielle brooks as beatrice! there are also films by kenneth branaugh and joss whedon that have their own strengths and weaknesses, and they're usually around on streaming services at various times!
wanted to post this here for the links to the filmed performances! i’m sure most of you have seen the tennant/tate version as its been around for a few years, but the danielle brooks performance is STUNNING and has my favorite version of beatrice eavesdropping.

Happy Sigh No More anniversary! the drawing you commissionned is gorgeous. It makes me wish you would tell more stories in this Shakespearian / Musicians AU next, rather than a P&P retelling! Maybe The Taming of the Shrew? Or Twelth Night? Anyway I'm sure I'll love all of your projects!

my problem with retelling taming of the shrew and twelfth night is that they rely so much on gender politics that i’d have to be really careful when redoing it and this year has just been really exhausting haha!

I commissioned the wonderful @sebsketchs to make a poster for this story, and I love it. I love their affectionate looks, the wonderful posters behind them, and all the easter eggs! @sebsketchs was so thoughtful and kind in creating this piece of art, and I can’t stop looking at it!

aww thank you! i miss it too! i can’t believe it’s been a year. i’ve been trying to think of a way to celebrate the anniversary but i haven’t come up with anything. anyone have any ideas?
Would you ever consider doing a modern pride and prejudice project similar to sigh no more?
sigh no more was my absolute favorite thing i’ve done for tumblr and i loved doing it. i wanted to do another right away. a wlw version of pride and prejudice was my most requested suggestion for a follow-up! i couldn’t crack it at the time- i couldn’t quite figure out how to make the structure different enough from the definitive modern pride and prejudice Lizzie Bennet Diaries (in terms of the way it was done and told, i have approximately 45 million ways to reboot p&p at any given moment).
i also had some difficulty with a female darcy- so much of darcy’s flaws are, to me, flaws of so many men and an indictment of a very certain type of classist masculinity. women can certainly be classist as well, i just had a hard time developing the character in a way that felt true to darcy and not just “Cold Business Woman.” there are different implications to a cold rich woman in fiction and i had a hard time overcoming it. i watch a LOT of hallmark christmas movies and my least favorite trope is “business woman is too career!” and i didn’t want to fall into that trap. at the same time, rich women (especially rich white women) have their own privilege and classist views to overcome. it can definitely be done, i just had a harder time with it than slapping beatrice and benedick into idiot musicians. i knew i’d need to take a longer time developing her than i’d intended. i could always keep darcy a man (or nonbinary!) of course, but wlw was the most requested version and i wanted to give the people what they want!
and then i had some things in my personal life that distracted me, and time got away from me. i loved doing sigh no more and i’d love to do another social media retelling. aside from fairy tales, pride and prejudice is my all time favorite thing to retell (take a look through my pride and prejudice tag to see all the different versions i’ve come up with through the years!) right now i’ll be making spooky content and then christmas content, but i bet you’ll see another retelling out of me sometime.
