Dmitry Lyovin (Russian painter, b. 1955)
why did he turn white? was that what he was worrying about?
this person is 30 years old
Absolute horror show found on Reddit.
Just stumbled across an Instagram account run by some off-camera parent providing a daily record of their quest to get their 11 year old son to lose weight, because he is unacceptably fat. There are two concerns I have:
1) The kid is not fat. He's like, slightly chubby at most. If this is the level of overweight that his parents have decided requires daily internet records to resolve, I shudder to think how they'll respond if he ever back slides, or if he gets actually fat when he's older.
2) Even if he WAS truly fat, he's fucking 11! And a shortarse! He hasn't even begun to grow into his teenage frame, let alone his adult frame! They have absolutely no fucking idea what the kid is going to look like within the next few years but they've already decided that his body cannot be allowed.
This poor fucking kid doesn't have the opportunity to spend his summer playing without it being turned into a public spectacle designed to make him change his body according to other people's desires. He seems chill with it at the moment, but the whole debacle appears to have started this summer, and when he goes back to middle school in the autumn, and his peers have seen his parents' video of him jumping into a pool in slow motion to highlight how he jiggles, I can't imagine that he'll find the experience anything other than unpleasant.
Poor little fucker. It's all just so miserably fucking depressing.
OP: How to create floating Chinese shufa/calligraphy (cr夏末)
Has any kid ever in the history of the world actually groaned/expressed disgust at their parents expressing affection for one another? Why does media continue to push this myth?
I've see my friends kids do this? It's a moody early-teenage thing, it's eye-rolling and fake retching at perceived sappiness. Have you really never seen this in real life?
Plastic Man #5 (1946)
written by Jack Cole & Gwen Hansen art by Jack Cole, Alex Kotzky, Bart Turney, & John Spranger
Holy shit, this artwork is phenomenal for 1946? The linework and the perspective and the staging and the colour all look like they came from decades later? Like for comparison here's a Batman issue from the same year:
Like the dialogue writing in Plastic Man absolutely marks it as of it's age, but if you showed me those panels without the dialogue bubbles I'd assume they were from the 70s or 80s?
Okay, I'm wondering if the Plastic Man pages above have been digitally retouched for a reprint at some point, because I'm looking at other issues from the same era and
These scans have linework quality and paper yellowing and colour-bleed that you would expect from the 40s.
