"jesus," dani mutters. she'll admit—to herself, if not to him—that her words were designed to sting. she's always finding the tender spots of people and digging her fingers in just to see them flinch. it's instinct, at this point; she doesn't know why. the meaningless bandage of i'm kidding is instinct, too, even if she knows it's bullshit. maybe because she knows it's bullshit.

honestly, she hadn't expected jordan to bite back. maybe that makes her a bully, picking on somebody she thinks is too weak to retaliate, but hey. she never claimed to be a good person.
