You left early the following morning before Jay woke up. You met up with your old boss to get the keys to the apartment he set up. You pulled up to your old meeting spot and stood against the hood of your car, waiting for him to show up. You saw a car that you didn’t recognize pull up and your heart started thumping but when your old boss got out of the car, your heart slowed its past. He walked up to you and started to hand you the keys and the file but before you could grab them, he snatched them up. “Does your new boss know you’re screwing your partner?”
“Even though it’s none of your business, yes he does. The entire unit knows,”
He nodded. “How about how you screw your old partner? He’s doing good. He has a family now,”
You rolled your eyes. For some reason, your entire old unit thought you were sleeping with your old partner but you weren’t. You had an idea that your old partner was the one that spread that rumor. “
You pushed yourself off the car and stood up straight. “When will y’all stupid ass people get it through your thick heads that Ben and I never slept together? When will y’all get smart and realize that your son lied to you and the entire team? You guys seriously can’t still be this dumb,”
Wilson walked towards you, roughly grabbed your shirt and got in your face. Something he would always do when he thought he was being disrespected. He mainly only did it to you. But the difference is that this time, he slapped you across the face. Probably what he had been wanting to do since you first joined his team. As you spat blood out, Wilson was being pushed onto his car hood. You took notice that it was Voight. You smiled at that scene. Wilson’s look on his face was mixed with terror and confusion. You walked up to him and looked at him.He struggled against Voght’s weight but Voight held him still. “You really thought I would come here to meet you alone? Voight knows EVERYTHING you and your son have done to me on this case and off this case. I might not be able to bring you down but Voight certainly can, good luck with getting you and your son out of it this time,”
You grabbed the keys and file that fell on the ground while Voight talked to Wilson. “If it’s not obvious, you’re not this case-”
“You can’t do that, this is my case,”
“I just did,”
Voight grabbed him and pushed him towards his car. He looked at you. “This isn’t over, bitch,”
Voight laughed. “It is. You come near Y/l/n again or do anything to jeopardize this case or do anything to put her life in more danger and I find out, I will make it my personal mission in life to ruin your life and career. That goes for your son too,”
Wilson looked at Voight, back at you and then got in his car and drove off. You watched the car drive off and looked at Voight. “I know him and he’s gonna do everything in his power to put roadblocks in this case,”
“Voight shook his head. “Don’t worry about him. I got it under control. Have you heard from Henriks?”
You shook your head. “Not yet but it won’t be long. Griffin won’t stay hidden for too long. He’ll reach out to Henriks,”
Voight nodded. “I’m not gonna drone on about the dos and don’ts of being undercover during a case like this cause I know you know but I need to say this. You can’t be in contact with Jay and the contact you have with me needs to be limited,”
“Got it boss,”
“Okay, so what’s your plan?”
“I don’t really know. If I don’t hear from Henriks within the next few days, I’m gonna go to all the spots that Griffin goes too,”
“Okay, but wouldn’t he know the police be looking at those places,”
You shook your head. “No, there’s a few places that only Henriks and I know about,”
Voight nodded and headed towards his car but stopped. “Stay safe and don’t try to be the hero,”
You walked to your car and opened your car door. “Can I ask you a favor?”
“What is it?”
You reached into your car and pulled out a file of your own and handed it to Voight. “The people in this file need to be under protection,”
“I need to know why,”
“Only thing you need to know is that Griffin can’t find them. I need your promise that he won’t find them,”
He opened the file and took a second before reading it before looking back up. “You have my promise,”

It had been two days since you last talked to Voight and you had yet to hear from Henriks. “Lilian long time no see,”
You walked into a small bar on the outskirts of town and the owner immediately recognized you.You looked around and didn’t see Griffin sitting where he usually sat. “Linus! How have you been?”
“I’m good. Good. Y/f/d, right?”
You nodded. “Correct! Good memory,”
He started to make it as you sat down. “I will remember the drinks of my favorite customers but this favorite customer hasn’t been in here in years,”
“Yeah, after everything that happened, I had to keep a low profile until the heat died down,”
You never thought that Linus was involved in what happened but you always thought he knew about Griffin . This was Griffin’s all time favorite bar and Linus was his favorite bartender. You would come here pretty much four times a week with Henriks. “Yeah, I heard,”
He handed you your drink and you took a sip of it and you were in heaven. “Still the best tasting y/f/d ever,”
“Thank you,”
You took a couple more sips before putting it down. You looked around and whispered. “Griffin is back. Has he been in?”
He looked around to make sure no one was talking. “No. How long has he been back?”
You grabbed a pen behind the bar and wrote your fake number on the napkin. “I don’t know exactly. I just was told that he was back but if he shows up at any point, can you let me know,”
He grabbed the napkin and shoved it into his pocket. “I will,”
You took another sip before leaving the bar.

You were laying in bed, about an hour after you got home you went and visited all the places Griffin loves and no one has seen him, scrolling through all the unanswered texts that Jay sent you. You turned off the read receipts so Jay wouldn’t know that you read them. All of Jay’s messages were telling you to be safe, don’t be a hero, and that he loves you. You heard your fake phone go off and you quickly sat up and looked at the phone and it was from an unknown number.

It’s Linus. Griffin is here. He just got here.
To: Linus.
Got it. On my way.

You were standing outside the door to the bar and took a deep breath before entering. You entered the busy door and looked at Linus and he nodded towards the area Griffin was. You followed his nod and saw him sitting at the same spot, you noticed he had some other people with him and one of them was Henriks. Your feet started walking over there before you could realize it and you were there before you knew. “Nickolas?”
Griffin turned in his seat to look at you and he stared at you in shock. “Lilian?”
You forced a smile and nodded. “Yeah, it’s me,”
Griffin stood up and pulled you into a hug. “I’ve been trying to get in contact to let you know, I was in town but your phone was turned off and you weren’t at your old address. It’s like you fell off the face off the Earth,”
You let him go and looked at him. “Yeah, after everything went down. I had to,”
“You should’ve came with me,”
“I couldn’t, you know that,”
He didn’t say anything but he told the girl that was sitting next to him to move over so you couldn’t sit next to him, you saw her shoot you a death glare. You didn’t think much of it as she could be a sex trafficed victim that was brainwashed.
You sat in between them and looked straight at Henrik. He mouthed sorry to you.
The girl spoke up. “Hi I’m Antonia”
Her thick Romanian accent came out with a hint of jealousy. You smiled at her. “I’m Lilian,”
She looked up and down before looking at Henriks. “Who she?”
“This is Lilian. Griffin’s right hand woman. She’s the one we’ve been telling you about,”
“She doesn’t seem like much,”
You let out a scoff but before you could answer, Griffin intervened. “Watch it Antonia, I’ll ship your ass back to Romania if you continue to disrespect Lilian,”
Antonia just shut up after that and didn’t say anything but sat and pouted. Griffin whispered into your ear. “We need to talk,”
You nodded. You both got up and walked to the back to the bar into a private room that Griffin always used. You knew what he needed to talk about.

Although you weren’t the face of the company you had the name and although you weren’t a model you had to be done up like one for every public event to live up to the name you were born with. You didn’t mind being all glammed up, but when it came to the two major events on the social fashion calendar, you hardly had time to sleep let alone go to fittings for a dress your dad made for every event for you, making sure your hair was freshly coloured and your nails were done, plus making sure the models were going to their final fittings, seating charts were perfect, chasing up RSVP’s, the function venue was fine, making sure there would be more than enough food, everything for the gift bags were done and in your in your office at least a week before and now making sure that you made time for your non boyfriend, making sure his daughter didn’t catch you both in the act.
