Stop convincing yourself you’re wasting your life away. The time you’ve spent resting and healing was and is necessary. You’re not a waste of a person if you find yourself struggling right now. Healing, recovering, sitting with your pain is foundational. It’s not a waste. You are still whole.
Rest is important. Acknowledgingthat you need rest is even more important.
You can’t expect yourself to go from a negative mentality to a positive one overnight, but every time you correct a bad thought you are growing! So focus on your growth, not the fact that you aren’t “there” yet.
The journey to be “there” can be fun too
"Strange isn’t it? To love a book. When the words on the page become so precious that they feel like part of your own history because they are.” ~ Erin Morgernstern, The Starless Sea

I have not picked up a book in ages. I’ve been caught up in the realities of adulthood. Seeing this post reminded me of The Night Circus, and reminded me of what it used to be like and used to feel like. Even if I am not who I used to be and even if I do not read as much as I used to, I can always go back... And my books will welcome me home.

Sometimes the best way you can spend your day is in bed resting and I promise you those days are just as important as the days you complete a bunch of work.
Today is one of those days

even though you didn’t do enough productive things today, its okay as long as you listened to your body and did what you had to do, even if it wasn’t the most “productive” thing you could have done. taking care of yourself is important
me, taking a nap to avoid all my responsibilities: I can have a little unconsciousness. as a treat.
my whole vibe is on do not disturb

beauty tips from a 12,000 year old sycamore tree:
(inspired by this post.)
good posture is ideal but not always possible. if you must slouch and let your branch-arms wave and sway in the wind, make sure that your boughs are flowering, blooming, and bright. it would be rather mortifying to let bare branches be the first thing people notice about you! make your arms and hands full of skill, the way mine are full of flowers.
carry things ever so gently in your arms. when birds want to make a home of you, let them. hold flowers as though they are very precious.
wrinkles are dignified, just like the textured grain of tree-bark. they are a sign of steadiness and the strength to weather the weather. be proud of them.
when you meet a tree with a hundred visible rings, are you not excited to count them all? do not fear aging, little human. every year added to your life makes it all the more specifically special.
there is no need to compare your beauty to other trees. to do so is to strip yourself of your graces and your tree-bark. whisper to other humans like i whisper to other trees. talk to them. solidarity between trees is inevitable and unquestioned. could humans learn from that?
you need strong roots to grow tall! little human, wear sturdy shoes with good soles. as a tree it is very important to me that you stand on a strong foundation.
just like how one tree flowers the same coloured flowers, find your beauty and style signatures and stick to it.
trees are ultimately kind.
trees are ultimately given more to action than words.
trees carry on.
trees continue.
beauty is in continuance, little human.
listen to what the trees tell you. we are open to befriending you.
