Victorian Shoe Sculptures Tell Whimsical Stories in Steps by Costa Magarakis

Greek artist Costa Magarakis, specializes in shoe sculptures. A world renowned “shoesmith,” she relocated to the edge of the Shoe Galaxy, closer to her dreams yet “step years” away from Earth. This is where she spends most of her time, as a dedicated artisan, where she decorates shoes to tell stories of the world she inhabits.

The characters that take the centre stage in her fables are mostly from the Victorian era. Treading the line between sculpture and story-telling, her heeled figurines symbolize quirky personalities, which stand alone as pop art. Unique as a footprint, the miniature pieces are made from reinforced stone hard resin.

From a leather studded scorpion to a mad carriage like contraption from the Elizabethan era, each of Magarakis’ artwork is taking steps toward telling a classic story with a whimsical edge. You can find more of her designs on her Etsy shop.
