"Ew! Iâm intrigued though, how do you have a spitting contest?"
"It's all very technical. You see who can spit the farthest."
"True, pudding is hard to beat but what about a drink? You win I pick up the tab, vice versa if I do. I meanâŚitâs not like we could bet our rations now could we so a little fun could be the next best thing." the last bit was said with an awkward laugh for although meant as a joke a part of Kimberly wanted his rations. Needed them even.
"And who says a good boy like me drinks?" Silas asked, though it was clearly a joke given his reputation. He and Charlie more than enjoyed the occasional party. "Fine. What's the contest then?"
"Well I donât see you coming up with any better options. Although, Iâd rather not get hurt today. So letâs maybe nix the possibility of injury."
"Spitting contest?"
"Smart. Hmm, how about a race? Iâll have you know Iâm a pretty fast runner, and we can work up an appetite for those pudding cups at the same time."
"I don't know if you want to challenge me to a race for food, you won't only hurt your pride, I might end up hurting you in my hurry to eat."
"Alright Mr. Confident how about we sweeten the pot then? Iâve never been much for pudding so why not something more valuable, maybe something more useful?"
"Well, I'm not sure what you could find more valuable than pudding, but, alright, I'll bite. What are we wagering?"
"Are you sure about that? Iâll have you know that I am pretty good at a lot of things. Iâm feeling extra risky today so two pudding cups it is. So what are you thinking?"
"Well, I'd say a pudding cup eating contest, but that might take the fun out of winning if we don't have any prizes."
"I'm just letting you know that I will absolutely destroy you in any competition we come up with. The wager can be one pudding cup unless you're feeling extra stupid and want to lose two."
OOC: What do you think about Silas' relationships? Which are the most important, in your eyes?
"Well, obviously his relationship with Charlie is pretty much Siâs whole world at the moment, and has been for a few years. And even if they arenât close, Cesar is definitely going to become important for obvious reasons," Tyler said as he threw his arm on the back of his chair. "But outside of those two prominent ones, Hannah is definitely up there â Silas doesnât really go into depth about his feelings with anyone, but if there was ever someone, it would be Hannah."
"So, now that you know the excitement of my life, whatâs new with yours? Delivering any goodâŚdeliveries?" Silently cursing as she suddenly turned to pass a playful glare at Isabelle in the corner who was now coloring the walls with fistfuls of crayons, Hannah shrugged and turned back to the gift he brought, peering down into the wooden crate. "Iâm so happy that I could kiss you right now, S."Â
"I spend most of my days trying to find a nice, warm napping spot. I have yet to find the perfect one. Other than that, I've got nothing." Silas turned to sit on the shortened table, smirking a little when he saw how Hannah was barely taller than him when when he was sitting. "You could, but I didn't have much to do with it. Thank your Leader. Besides, taken, thank you very much."
"Yes, thatâs exactly what it means!" Even if he was certainly aware of what it meant, Hannah was beyond excited to put two and two together; shit, new supplies were coming into her daycare. âYou want to? I would love to have you in here with us; it gets boring trying to talk to preschoolers all day, you know?âÂ
Silas laughed a little and disengaged himself from Gabriel, stepping back to pick up the crate he had brought with him. Dropping it on one of the tables, he popped open the lid, glancing back at the blonde with a smile as the kids swarmed him. "I definitely get that."
âNew paint?â All thoughts of his ruined shirt were gone when Silas revealed that she would be getting new supplies; not the crappy ones that came from other areas of The Hub, like the year she was given used supplies from the lower school-aged children, as if the daycare was some charity. âI donât think Iâve ever seen the day where brand new supplies came through here. Do you know what this means, Silas? Do you know?â Grabbing the clipboard from him while trying to contain her excitement, Hannah did a series of jumping and clapping before settling down to sign her name. âDo you want to stick around and make hand paintings with us?âÂ
"It means you're getting new paint?" Silas tried as he watched her spaz out with a clipboard in her hands. At least she was one of the few people who he was grateful to deliver to. Taking back the clipboard he tried to think of anything else that was on his schedule today, but nothing came to mind. "I'd love to."
Turning her head at the sound of his voice, the one she knew so well, her soft smile made a quick appearance before a scowl replaced it, moving to tug at the small boyâs hand. âNo, Gabriel, your fingersâŚâ Oh, too late. âIâm sorry? Iâll buy you a new oneâŚâ
Silas watched as Gabriel pressed his face against his shirt, wiping god only knows what from his face with the fabric. "It's... alright," Silas said slowly, awkwardly leaning over the boy to hand over the clipboard. "You get new paints and craft supplies. Excited?"
"Iâm really sorry butâ" rushing around the classroom full of children, most who were younger than the age of five, Hannah cursed under her breath as she raced to a younger girl who was trying to eat a crayon before looking up at the person standing at the door. "Iâm sorry but could we talk later? Or is it importantâŚ?"
"Well, I need you to sign for this, so... kinda need that now, you know?" Silas asked as a sticky-fingered child tugged at his shirt. "Have I ever told you that I'm not at all jealous of your job?"
"How is being forced to have a kid with someone you may or may not like any different?" Abby knew this wasnât Silasâ fault, but she was getting rather worked up about it.
"At least there's a chance you might end up with someone you could love," Silas replied quietly.
"I donât know about that."
"You'd rather get taken over by Hosts or raped by raiders?"
"Well, you know I would have came by if I wasnât so busy. Youâll have to blame work for keeping me occupied. " Charlie said as her fingers brushed down the material of his clothing. "But youâre right, we really need to make use of our apartments." She smirked. "So letâs change that and head back to your place, yeah?"
"I most certainly do blame work, because I wouldn't believe you if you said that you don't want to spend every waking moment with me," Silas replied with a smile as he grabbed the hand trailing down his shirt and pulled her down the aisle of the movie theatre. "Fine, but only because you're so clearly desperate."
