“They are.” She signed with a smile, laying down next to him, keeping his hand in hers. It was nice, it was…nearly silent, to say the least. She could probably fall asleep to this easily, just drift off into another world as she laid there with N. 

Mei wouldn’t mind that too much, honestly. The ground was cool, his body was warm. The problem would be staying awake…

N just chuckled as he wrapped arms around her now, close to drifting off to sleep, “Nnnnn… Lil’ nap never killed anybody… Huh MeiMei?” he stated tiredly, too much had happened and if he was honest he had never liked sleeping alone, always with part of his family, one of his friends.

“Get some rest Mei…I’ll keep you safe and the trees around us will keep us safe from prying eyes.” he whispered, arms holding her close. He meant it too, he would always keep her safe if he could help it.

The girl smiled at the nickname, it was cute, very cute actually. Moving closer to him, she nuzzled into his side happily, hands gripping his shirt loosely. She felt protected, safe, and happy. She doubted anything could ruin this moment, even if people showed up.

Giving a soft yawn, the girl started to drift off to sleep. Normally she wouldn't dare sleep outside like this, but being with N made her feel safe and secure. Without even realizing it, the mute trainer fell asleep in the others arms.

The trainer nodded, looking around. She knew there was a hidden grotto around here somewhere, she usually would rest there between training and such. Soon, she spotted it, and giving the other a smile, lead him over to it. Being inside here was one thing, but with someone else, someone she liked no less, made her feel nervous. 

She sat on the cool grass, smiling up at him as she waited for him to sit with her. It was cool in the grotto, the leaves blocking out the sun, casting a cool shadow onto the ground.

A soft laugh as he laid next to her, taking her hand in his just content with  with how close they were in this secret grotto. No noises ever escaped through the trees except for the calls of the wild Pokemon but even those were muffled greatly.

“I always love coming to these areas… So peaceful.” he mumbled, almost dozing off now.

The girl blinked, looking up at him. She hadn’t expected him to kiss her forehead, but.. she did like it. Although, she doubted she could ever admit it to anyone, it was all to embarrassing. She was frightened of making a complete fool of herself, as well. 

Her smile widened, and standing on the tips of her toes, returned the forehead kiss. That’s all she could really think to do.

N just smiled, petting her hair a bit as he gazed at her, “What do you say… That while we’re both so close to tears… We find a grotto to hide away in just for a little bit…” he whispered quietly as he held her.

“That way… W-we can both cry without shame or without fear of somebody laughing at us…” he suggested eyes still pained as he held back how he felt.

The girl peaked up at him, tears still flooding her eyes. She had never heard anyone tell her that, it was…a surprise. It felt nice, though. Being complimented and not downgraded for her disability. A small smile stretched across her face.

She’d protect him from those mean people who wouldn’t leave him alone, even if it meant they started to hate her. It didn’t matter to her, as long as her friends were alright and happy.

N just kept his arms wrapped her, holding her close, wanting only to keep her safe from this cruel vicious world. A single hand came up, wiping away her tears as he kissed her forehead. “Dear Mei… Thank you.”

“…I’ll do my best… From now on. I can stand on my own two feet and… I’ll protect you as well somehow.” he promised.

She couldn’t help the tears falling down her cheeks now, the tears that stained her slightly rosy pink cheeks. She hated how people treated him, even those who stayed with Ghetsis, she couldn’t stand what they were saying. After meeting him.. It just got worse. She couldn’t help it, Mei didn’t want him to feel like this. He didn’t deserve it, he was trying to do better. It wasn’t his fault, he was following something he was passionate about. Looking up at her, the trainer gave a nod. She knew it was true. Using a hand, she signed. “And I’ll be here to help you.”

“Th-thank you…” he whispered as he pulled her close, hiding her in his arms, not wanting anybody to see this girl cry. He could protect her, right…? He could protect her from the world out there, or at the very least he would try his damnest to protect her! “Don’t cry Mei… You’re a beautiful girl and tears do not belong on your face.”

She looked up at him, tears filling her eyes. She shook her head, looking back towards the ground. She hated this, she truly did. She could speak, and that made everything so difficult for her! She hated.. Hated it more than anything. No.. There was something worse than that; seeing someone in pain, not being given a second chance, and her being unable to truly help. She gripped his jacket, burying her face in his chest. Her grip was tight. She didn’t know what to do,what to…well, sign. She wanted to cry her eyes out,but she couldn’t. Wouldn’t, not yet. Not in front of him, who she wanted to help more than anything. She looked back up at him, stepping a few steps away. Taking a deep breath, she held up her hands, ready to sign. “It’s not your fault,” she signed with a small, sad smile. “You’re not a freak, and you should be given a second chance.. Whatever those people say isn’t true! Don’t listen to them, please.. I know I’m mute, but I still want to help you the best I can!”

He couldn’t believe even now… There were those who wished to see him smile, who truly did believe he deserved that second chance. Noticing her almost tears he reached up, brushing fingers along her eyes. “Mei… I… I’m trying to be strong and to do better,… Y-you know that right…?”

“You’re in Nimbasa City of the Unova region!” Came a female voice, obviously the girls. It didn’t come from her, but was given by the Pokemon who stood next to her in his head. “Ah.. Do you not know how you got here?”

Funny, he hadn’t seen her lips move, but she was speaking? He looked at the Pokemon at her side before replying. “..No, I don’t. I’m from the Hoenn region after all. Seems I am really lost..is there any way for me to get back?”

She saw the puzzlement in his eyes and instantly knew what it was about. "Ah... Sorry! I'm mute, and my Pokemon helps me communicate with everyone." She knew she didn't have to apologize, but she always did no matter what.

"Your best option is to go to the port city."

Oh, so many new people! It was a bit overwhelming, to say the least. But she enjoyed it nonetheless. She just hoped no one minded her inability to talk. Putting a smile on her face, she waved.

..Who was this waving to him? Where he even was he? Last he had checked he had been in Rustbro City, then..well, it was all a blur. “Hey.” He waved back to her anyway. Wherever he was, he’d get back on track at some point. “Can you tell me where I am?”

The child stared at the other, wondering what the creature was beside of her. It was blue and black, and looked more like a dog then anything.

“And who exactly are you? I don’t exactly have time to waste on someone of low stature such as yourself.”

"Ah--!" came a voice, it sounded more feminine than what would come from a creature. "My name is Mei-- and, This is Lucario! I-I'm mute, so he helps me speak to others." 

Mei kept a stern face, not  knowing what to expect from the girl. This was a bit strange.. She had an odd vibe to her.
