Afternoon light filters through the leaves, swaying to a silent song no one could hear as trees stand tall and proud. On the base of a mighty oak, a figure lays against its trunk as their fingers flick through the pages of their book.
Don in the Serene Lyceum uniform, he sat uncaring on how nature stains its garbs as he reads his study book.
... Until he notices the viewer looking at him.

Hey, guys! Mun here. Since the upcoming Tower of Memory season is coming, a couple of friends and I decided to make silly OCs pre Lyceum Season. So without further ado, meet my OC: Noctis Sylas.
❤️ Born mute. So sometimes he signs or writes to get his words across.
General information about him:
❤️ Age between late teen to young adult.
❤️ Proficiency in rune and sigil magic. A broken ability, imo.
❤️ Humble background. Helps out his parents whenever he can between schedules.
❤️ Don't be fooled by his appearance, he can and will be shameless and bold.
❤️ Peers considered him to be a loner unless one gets to know him to see his protective side.
~~~
Please be respectful and keep things clean. Let's enjoy our time with each other!
Thanks for the tag! Now then, about my boy Noctis...
Heartbroken mute who one sidedly broke up with his blue eyed kinda evil(?) rich ex before graduating and somehow began falling in love with another tragic blue eyed boy that has a secret like his ex except he still have feelings for his ex 💔
The dark haired mage graduate walked around the Central Plaza of the Savannah after he just got off from the carriage, taking in the sights the Lightbearer capital has to offer.
However, Noctis paused when a cloaked stranger gave him a flying kiss out of nowhere before disappearing into the crowd when he was observing the acts on the theater.
Horses neighed and snorted, their hooves clattered in a rhythm as the carriage moved on the gravel pathways, passing blurs of scenery while the coachman whistled as he held the reins at hand.
Noctis looks out the window quietly, merely observing while his heart remains calm. Well, as calm as he could be as he caressed his book bag after dealing through the ordeal back in the Serene Lyceum months before graduation.
He graduated without.. him.
He perked up, golden eyes gleaming in anticipation when they were about to reach the destination that a dear acquaintance invited him to.
This story was written in early February right after the TOM main story before the epilogue and had barely made any edits. English is not my first language. Enjoy ❤️
The room was cold and dingy, the furniture was as sparse as the eyes could see. There, Gervan sat as serene as a full moon, as if he was untroubled from everything despite the condition of the room – regardless of the magic suppression cuffs onto his wrists. The only source of light is the windows that were barricaded by steel iron. Almost as if he had not done the terrible sin of wrath and bloodshed towards his beloved Headmaster Leymar and the attempted assault towards Merlin and his own friends.
As well as a certain hound…
The locked door creaks open as footsteps enter the room.
“You only have a few minutes…” Envoy Evie stated, professionally toned before she closes it. Yet before it shuts, she added firmly. “... Don't do anything reckless.”
A grunt was her only answer before the door was shut and locked tight.
A smile curled up on Gervan’s lips as he lifted his sapphire gaze from the table and stared into dull golden eyes that used to shine for him. His expression was tranquil. Yet, his words were not as he gave a light chuckle.
“I see the dog has finally decided to visit his owner. Have you come to humiliate me?”
A scoff slipped out of Noctis lips in response as he signed at him with an irk expression. “Oh, shut it. I'm not low enough to do that. Least of all to your level, Hastings.”
“Heh, you are as courteous as ever,” Gervan muses with an easy curl to his lips yet Noctis knows better than to fall for it. Not anymore.
“So, what do I owe the pleasure of your visit? Don't tell me you're here because you miss me, Nocty?” The blunette noble teases with a tilt of his head, eyes gleaming that familiar glint that Noctis was tempted to look away. He doesn't as he let out a shaky exhale as he clenches his fists by his sides. His golden gaze narrowed as he approached the table, standing the opposite from him.
“I wouldn't dream of it.” Noctis signed before he took out his book and placed it flat on the table. The last thing Gervan expected him to do was to pull out some kind of choker with a gem embedded to its faux leather and put it on around his neck, adjusting it.
Gervan stared passively as he raised an eyebrow. "Didn't think you would take being a dog so seriously…,” He mutters under his breath as Noctis soon finishes adjusting its strap.
Noctis took a deep breath with his eyes closed before exhaling as he relaxed his shoulders…
Then he slammed the table with clenched fists, a furious look took over his once aloof and indifferent face. Yet, what made Gervan flinch is what comes after.
“ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR GODDAMN MIND?!”
A shocked expression was plastered on Gervan’s as he listened to Noctis' deep voice (Voice! His rationale yells at him) coming out of his throat as the dark haired male tells him off filled with the fierce fury in his tone. The gem on the choker shines.
“I cannot believe you! Accepting dark magic?! Are you crazy?! You are better than this, Gervan! Dura above, you turned into a Hypofiend! A HYPOFIEND! Do you have any idea how I felt when I saw you like that? When we saw you like that? Do you?!”
Noctis screamed as his golden eyes sharpened, slamming his fists onto the table surface - nearly leaving a dent. Gervan swiftly overcame his shock as a snarl now imprinted on his face, retorting.
“You wouldn't get it now, would you?! You think I would care for the words of those who had everything without paying a price? Then you must be naive! Which is expected for someone like you!”
“Oh, you did not just say what you're insinuating..,” Noctis narrows his eyes yet he couldn't hide the flash of hurt in his gaze. Yet Gervan was too caught up in his anger as he lashed out at him.
“I was about to lose everything! You think the court in the palace would take the future heir of House Hastings seriously in a wheelchair?! Be realistic, Noctis ‘cause I doubt a commoner like you understands this pressure! I had to prove to everyone, including my own parents, that I am up for the tasks and bring honour to my family instead of shame! Instead, I'm second to the Serene Lyceum’s natural prodigy!”
“THEN YOU COULD’VE TELL US!”
Noctis berated, fighting back the urge to do something he might regret as he kept his fists planted on the table as he continued.
“You could've just confided in us and we could've helped you! Silven, Pippa, Cassadee, Serena, Delphine, Ikigai, Fyo, Evan, Sylvaine, the Professors, the Headmaster and me! We could've still supported you regardless of your lack of mobility. Who cares about being second?!”
“I do!” Gervan bellowed as he slammed one of his hands on the armrest, fist clenched tight that he might bleed through his gloves.
“Well, I don't!” Noctis growled as he stood up just to slam his fist in front of Gervan’s side of the table. He almost flinched at the display. Almost, as Noctis' words nearly left him silent. “Do you know why? Because your friends love you! I love you!”
Silence reigned the atmosphere as Noctis panted, staring at him with pain in his golden eyes. “... I still do.”
“Nocty-” Gervan tried to reach out yet was painfully reminded of the cuffs on his wrist that he cursed internally.
“Tell me,” The dark haired male voice starts to lose its fire as he stares at him with heartbroken eyes. “Was everything we have the past years a lie? All those dates that we hide from everyone? All those kisses we share in our privacy? All those gifts I gave you under the guise of friendship?” His voice hitched as he wiped a stray tear. “Are you ashamed of me? Of us? Is that why you want to hide our love in the beginning?”
“Nocty-”
“Don't,” Noctis stopped him with a raised hand as his fury cooled. “Don't call me that, please. For both our sake.” Noctis sniffed as he calmed himself down. Yet, Gervan stared as his negative emotions consumed him. He attempts to push it down yet regret washes over him like a tidal wave, consuming him. He hates it.
He hates that he feels this way for one silent sigilist: Noctis Sylas. A commoner. What a joke.
The blue haired noble watches in anticipation as Noctis took some deep breaths as he placed his palms flat on the table. He sighs… before ripping the choker off his throat with a grimace then proceeded to smash it to the floor.
Gervan flinched as his eyes widened, shoulders bunched up. “Why would you do that? You finally spoke!” Anger and worry slipped into his tone as he stared at him in disbelief.
A bitter chuckle slipped out of Noctis lips before he opened his book and opened to a blank page before sliding it across to him on the table.
[Read this and read this carefully.] The words appeared followed by the next. [I don't need a voice to be loud.]
Speechlessness froze him as he read the book, unaware of Noctis movements. [I may be quiet yet people can still notice me and my progress and do you know why? While people dream and aim for success, I went for it.]
[While you may see your disability as a weakness, I don't see mine as such. I see things and people who are as beautiful not because of their appearance. But because of the effort they put in and what they do with it, even overcoming their doubts and fears. It may sometimes not be the correct choice but it's still their choice. To overcome things that some might consider a hassle. I gained respect because I went for it instead of waiting around for orders and expectations.]
[I am already loud in presence. And I know you know that too.]
Silent yet loud. A walking contradiction. A contradiction that truly fits Noctis at his core. Now that he thinks of it, the mute never went to look for a cure for his mutism anyway. In Noctis's mind, that is how Life is. Action instead of stagnation.
It's his Passion.
[I never looked down upon you nor do I worship the ground you walked on. To me, you're still my Gervan. Just Gervan.]
[Look up] Snapping out of his stupor, he looks up to see Noctis near and beside him with a pained look. The dark haired male let out a shaky sigh before opening his palm.
A charm bracelet with moons and cats as its design. Handmade by the looks of it. Yet Gervan's heart skipped a beat and sank at the same time. Noctis pulled up a piece of paper with his other hand as words formed.
[Y'know? I was planning to give this to you when the court mage selection exam was over, regardless of the outcome.] Noctis let out a downcasted chuckle. [I remember how you love cats and how the moon always embraces you whenever we go on our nightly walks. It's a pity that it ends this way.]
Noctis smiles at him with some love and regret in his eyes as he lifts Gervan's hand and puts the charm bracelet into his palm, squeezing his hand with affection. ‘Don’t smile at me like that!’ Gervan's mind screams as his own breath hitches in his throat. ‘Don’t!’ The words on paper continue. [Consider this my last gift of love to you before our separate ways…
… We need a break]
Noctis gave out a shaky sigh as he stepped back, walking towards the door. Knocking on it which allowed him to exit. The blue haired male snapped out of his stillness.
“NOCTIS! DON’T YOU DARE LEAVE ME-”
The black haired male looks over his shoulder and sends a sad self deprecating smile. He looks forward and never looks back as he walks away, leaving Evie to shut the door.
“NOCTIS! NOCTIS! COME BACK!” Gervan screamed as he tried to use his magic yet failed as the cuffs fizzled the effects out. He panted in the suffocating silence as he clenched the handmade charm on top of the armrest.
A silent tear trickles down his cheek.
“... Nocty, please come back.”
"Don't leave me..”
“.. please.”
Desperation and grief fills his heart in the lonesome of the room, his proud composure now hung low, bound to his wheelchair.
The sound of birds could be heard, the wind could be swaying, and all was right with the world… Accompanied with the sound of someone screaming. “Ahhhhhhhhh! Woah!”
Azurella took a moment to catch her breath, having caught herself using her magic to get her down on the ground by using a magic slide like rug. Her magic was wild, untamed. Traditionally most Lyceum students had a type of magic they followed. She never did. Hers was undefined, which was great in the fact that she could do literally everything all at once. But it was also not great because she could do everything all at once.
“Well, that’s a no go! Flying lessons are a no…” she writes it down. Azurella sighs, her hair getting in the way. She moves it out of the way to see. That’s when she sensed it.
Rune magic.
Azurella never particularly bothered to learn rune magic, but it did intrigue her. She grabbed her notebook, and her box of pencils and pens, put them in her bag and went to find the source of the rune magic. After searching, she finally found where the source of the rune magic was coming from. It was someone sitting at a small table carving runes.
She used her light butterfly grab their attention to hopefully ask about it. Azurella’s light butterfly landed softly on the person’s finger. Gentle, glowing a bit before it turned into a whisp of light that floated around the stranger’s hand before returning to the caster.
Azurella waved hello.
Noctis pauses, seeing the whisp of light disappears into thin air, leaving a magical residue that he could sense.
Humming, he turned his head before his golden gaze locked onto a girl around his age or perhaps younger wearing the Serene Lyceum uniform standing on the path.
'So a fellow student..', he muses as he puts his book down.
Seeing her wave and friendly grin, he raises his own and return the gesture with an aloof expression.
From his periphery, Noctis notices a red flash and a small thud.
Nehir prowls over to where Noctis sits, leaning against the giant oak tree, spots of the morning sun filtering in through the leaves and dancing on the warm, dew-damp grass. She stands beside the young boy, observing him for a few long seconds, before settling down beside him.
Glancing to the side briefly, she let herself fall onto the grass, propped her arms behind her head, and lay in the warm sun.
"Alone?"
@magister-nehir
Under any normal circumstances, Noctis would've jumped in defence, not for himself but the Serene Lyceum, upon seeing a stranger suddenly appeared within the school territory without a badge.
But the guards aren't doing anything with no warnings blaring and his danger senses hasn't gone off so he's safe to assume she does have permission within the Lyceum's grounds as he stays seated in his usual spot of the Knowledge Garden.
With a purse of his lips, Noctis nodded with little hesitation as he holds his book close to his chest.
Thought I'd draw my young Merlin, Fyo, with her friends and peers. After all, she's returning to continue her final year in the Lyceum and graduate since things didn't turn out as planned (cough CHAINS OF ETERNITY cough)
It only makes sense to familiarise again with the people she used to/is currently going to school with! So meet her fellow graduates (ignore that one of them will drop out shhh🤫)
In the aftermath of Jn's prank letter, Noctis sighs in exhaustion as he lay back supine on his bed in the early evening. If one looks closely, they could see some light scratches on his face and sleeves of his sweater and that his hair is loose from its ponytail.
The source of why his appearance is the way it is?
... A Hypo Gervan plushie (who is now shrunken to a mini size due to his magic sigils) lay on his abdomen, now calm after a bit of a temper tantrum before and after it was shrunken. Thank Dura above that he manages to confiscated its own scythe or else more tears and scratches are made. And he doesn't want to make more of a mess in his room.
'You are trouble, you know that?' He huffs as he sits up carefully, carefully petting its hair as it gives out a heavy murr sound at the attention. Noctis golden eyes softened at the sentient plushie, no doubt thinking of his real life counterpart before he perked up. Huh, where are the other two minis?
He looks around and sees that mini Silven had dozed off at some point on a pillow after the aftermath. And mini Gervan? He stare intently at him and his Hypofiend counterpart with a hum on his passive face. But it may have sounded more as an unsettled growl.
Oh boy, what is he gonna do with them?
~~~
AGAIN, special thanks to @windmaedchen for making the hypo version of the mini Gervan plushie. I love it and appreciate it and would protect this one until the day I die /aff
A envelope dropped in front of Noctis, the seal open itself by magic as a letter slip out of it.
Hello, Noctis. I hope you're doing fine despise what had happened. But don't you worry, I know way to lighten up your day! and I know your love to Gervan is big and as ever faithful.
-Jn
As Noctis looks away from the letter, a portal appears next to him. at first nothing came out of it, until a footstep could be hear slowly coming out of the portal. a mini Gervan! but wait, this is different. the mini Gervan appears with scythe and he's huge! maube 20 feet tall. oh no.
The dark haired male feels a quick sense of relief that this happens in his dormitory instead of in public before it turns to panic as he slips off from his desk chair and landed unceremoniously on the floor.
Noctis gasped in shock as he sits up before an incredulous expression took over his face as he held his head, golden eyes wide.
'How the fuck am I going to explain about you to everyone?!'
He swore he will find out who 'Jn' is, right after he deals with the giant mini hypo version of Gervan. The mini Gervan and mini Silven he had on his bed shooked at the sight before scurried under his pillows.
An envelope flew into Serena's room, the envelope open itself with magic as a letter slip out of it.
Greetings lady Serena. It's seem your beauty is ever so lasting, dazzling like a rare gem. I hope you'll forever shine and dazzling like this, Perhaps just like glitter that won't come off the skin but forever shining.
- Jn.
Before the young lady could look away from the mysterious letter, a portal appears above her and without warning dropped a pounds of dirty mustard yellow glitter directly on her, covered every part of her with glitter from head to toe and basically buried her in ugly colored glitter. And if we know glitter so well, those probably won't come out even after hundreds of shower.
Serena’s shriek is loud enough for the Essail to hear.
Evening arrives with little fanfare as students decided to clock out from the library or leave the school premises once they finished extracurricular club activies.
In one dorm room, however, Noctis is dressed in his night sweater and slacks as he is out of uniform as he sat on his bed sheets. Uncharacteristically (or not, depends on who's asking), he has a soft grin plastered on his face.
The reason? The sentient mini Gervan plushie in his arms in which he cuddles with.
'You are so cute.' He gave a warm chuckle as he nuzzles it, feeling the mini nuzzling back and giving soft hums in response to his silent affections.
Noctis heart beats rapidly as his cheeks flushed, pulling back as he looks at the plushie.
'You are as cute as your human counterpart. Do you have any idea that I was thinking on asking him out to be mine?'
Mini Gervan merely hummed in response as it lay content in his hands. Nonetheless, Noctis gives a warmth filled chuckle.
'Well..,' He sighs as his golden gaze soften. 'Sooner or later, I'll confess-'
Unceremoniously, Noctis drops the plushie in shock, almost ignoring how it lets out a small 'Mmm' at the action. His near sunkissed skin on his face blossoms out into a hot red blush as his golden eyes widened.
For the first time for Gervan, Noctis looks embarrassed.
Franctically, the blackberry coloured haired male signs at Gervan.
"It is not what it looks like..!"
As if feeling discontented about the lack of attention, the mini Gervan lets out a "Mmm.." as it wiggles about on his lap. And was that a smirk on its face?
Regardless, Noctis quickly puts it behind his back as he looks away from Gervan's eyes completely.
Still consumed in his own fluster, Noctis shook his head frantically before he signs. His golden eyes connecting with Gervan's sapphire blue ones.
"Oh no, nothing is wrong with you! It's just- how do I put this into words..."
Noctis contemplated with flaming cheeks before he took a deep breath to clear his head.
"Gervan... You're cool and someone I admire greatly. And I'm not flattering you because you're a noble or that you have influence, but because well, you're you."
Noctis averted his eyes briefly before he gestures to the plushie in Gervan's hands.
"So I do feel a bit of selfishness when I found this little one. Instead of showing him to you guys... I wanna keep him to myself without anyone knowing on times where I'm not with you two."
Noctis smile as he sheepishly scratched the back of his head, ruffling his hair.
Noctis gives a warm chuckle as he too looks down to the content mini Gervan. Discreetly, he also looks at Gervan with a loving golden gaze as he smiles to himself.
Clearing his throat before he got lost in his reverie, Noctis asks as he signs while the flush on his cheeks died down.
"So what is it that you wanna talk about, Gervan? Come here for some company?" He gives a rare teasing smirk.
In the Serene Lyceum library, Noctis reads his textbook silently as the interiors remained quiet aside from whispers and hushed gossip from students due to the library's enforced rules. After everything that happened a few weeks ago, the male preserved on yet there's a quiet sorrow to him if one looks closely. A sorrow that Silven and a few others understands.
His golden eyes darted upwards when a book was dropped in front of him, the figure - Raziel - moving on without notice. Brows furrowed and lips thinned in concern, Noctis went over to pick up the hard cover book before approaching his fellow peer.
Expression set in his typical aloof manner, Noctis politely tapped his shoulder.
( @silentsigilist-noctis )
Raziel walks down the library with couple of books in his hand, despise he could have those books fly to follow him, Raziel prefers to carry it. Returns to Lyceum mean many classes and lessons he needs to catch up, even though the tension of what had happened during his absence still lingering in the air.
Without his noticed, a book slipped from his grip and fell to the floor. He continues walking, his eyes darted around to find a spot he could reads peacefully without anyone bother him.
A hand tapped on his shoulder make him pause in the spot, a frustrated groan escape his lips. Raziel's rosettes spotted tail slashing as he looks over his shoulder to see Noctis, one of student just like him. He rolls his eyes before spoke in whisper yet harsh tone.
Noctis blinked, unfazed by his harsh tone as he simply holds up the book that Raziel dropped with one hand. It's book cover title showing the subject theme of the one he needed while his other hand lift up his notebook, opened to show blank pages.
The parchment pages showed nothing at first before words and sentences started to appear with ink.
Raziel's eyebrows raise as he looks at the book cover and the ink shown on the parchment paper. he glances to the books in his hand, only then he realizes one of the book is missing: The Advance Transfiguration book and the same book is in Noctis' hand.
"Oh." Raziel simply said as he reaches out to grab the book from Noctis' hand and put it back with the other books. Raziel merely glances at Noctis through his glasses, reluctant huff escape his lips.
