“A very important guest.” Lohen’s smile widened. “My very important guest. So be a dear, and let your cheating husband know that I will be contacting him for our business deal. I’m sure Natlan has great weather this time of year. I’m sure your husband and his boyfriend are there right now.”
The woman’s eye twitched as Lohen nodded at her and guided Illuga toward the entrance. The moment they were out of earshot, Illuga looked at him, and Lohen looked right back.
“Lohen…” He shook his head, laughing awkwardly. “You…you…”
“I just saved your ass from Camille Valcourt? Yes. Yes, I did. She needed to be put in her place for some time now, and that was the perfect opportunity.”
“You saved me!” Illuga clarified. “I…thank you.”
Lohen grinned. “Any time.”
The words came easily to Illuga’s ears. It felt so…natural. So calming…as though protecting him from rude strangers was simply something he did in his spare time. It made Illuga blush a little.
“But still…” The grey-haired man rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “You didn’t have to do all that.”
“Nonsense.” Lohen let go of his waist, and together they stood face to face. Lohen began fixing Illuga’s tie. “You looked uncomfortable.”
“...” Illuga looked down to see Lohen making his tie correct.
“And…” The taller man hummed thoughtfully. “I don’t enjoy people speaking to you that way.”
A strange flutter rippled through Illuga’s stomach. His chin was then gently grabbed by Lohen’s fingers, and his head was tilted up so their eyes could meet. Illuga felt like he was about to fall just by the way Lohen was looking at him. Before he could respond, Lohen slid his hand down to the small of his back, smirking.
The touch was light. Guiding. Natural…
“Everyone’s already inside.”
Illuga nodded automatically, wiping away the drool from his mouth. “R–Right…”
