i've never seen anyone talk about how in the west end next to normal, natalie says she'll be "gone as of may" as an early admission to college, but then she still shows up to the spring dance with henry on may 1st (which they actually changed - it was march 1st in the obc). whether it was henry or everything that happened with diana i don't know, but the fact that it disrupts something she's obviously been working towards for years... i think the narrative almost tries to tell us she stayed for henry but i actually think she realises she can't just run away from her problems anymore and needs to tie up her loose ends before she goes to college
