A few things…

Unfortunately, I’ve found Serena’s redemption arc a bit more difficult to write than I anticipated. Primarily due to the state of things within the US and my own complicated feelings about the conservative movement. I also work and go to school full time and recently made the classic productivity error of falling in love.

THAT SAID…. I have been working on it very recently and it will 100% be completed. The pacing/plot to the next few chapters are very delicate and I’m having to write them all before posting. It will not be abandoned. Any wips I have up are actively being worked on.

“I’m not saying Serena and I are the same,” Emily continues. “I’m just saying that if we start deciding who deserves a place in society based on how much we like their motivations, we’re not really talking about forgiveness anymore. We’re talking about palatable morality.”

June runs her hands through her hair, frustrated. “So what, we just pretend the scale doesn’t matter?”

“No. But maybe we just acknowledge that some of this is about what we need, not what they deserve.” Emily pauses. “What do you need, June?”

June looks away, out at the quiet street. When she finally speaks, her voice is barely above a whisper. “I need Serena to be okay. I need to know that there’s a way forward that isn’t just…” She gestures helplessly. “Endless punishment and division.”

“And if she disappoints you?”

June shakes her head, shrugs. “Cross that bridge as it burns down, I guess.”
