Not because he was actually responsible.

That would imply effort.
Ace simply happened to be the oldest first-year by a few months, and somewhere in his tiny, overconfident brain, he'd decided that automatically promoted him to "The Adult."
No one had agreed to this.
Not Deuce.
Not Jack.
Not Epel.
Not Sebek.
Definitely not Grim.
Not Ortho
And certainly not Yuu.
But that had never stopped Ace from appointing himself things before.
"So," Ace announced one morning, standing dramatically atop a chair in Heartslabyul's lounge, "as the eldest, I've decided it's my duty to look after you idiots."
The room fell silent.
Deuce blinked. "What."
"You heard me."
"You literally forgot your homework yesterday."
"I remembered eventually."
"Cater found it in the laundry."
"It was taking a bath."
Jack sighed into his hands while Epel pinched the bridge of his nose. Sebek looked physically offended.
"THE ELDEST SHOULD EXEMPLIFY DIGNITY!"
"I do."
"You attempted to eat a candle last week."
"I THOUGHT IT WAS CHEESE."
Ortho quietly raised a hand. "Ace-senpai, scientifically speaking, candles and cheese possess noticeably different molecular compositions."
Ace pointed at him dramatically. "Traitor."
"I was never on your side."
Yuu sighed. "This meeting has been going for thirty seconds."
"And I'm already parenting all of you."
"You are the problem," Yuu replied.
Ace's version of taking care of everyone was... unique.

For example, when Jack forgot his lunch, a normal person would've shared theirs. Ace instead disappeared for thirty minutes. He eventually returned carrying three entire watermelons in his arms, wobbling under the weight.
Jack stared.
"...Ace."
"Yeah?"
"...Why."
"They're healthy."
"How."
"They were on sale."
"We're in the middle of winter."
"I don't ask questions."
Yuu blinked. "Where did you even buy watermelons?"
Ace refused to elaborate.
Jack ended up carrying two because they were too heavy for Ace.
If Jack looked exhausted, there would mysteriously be an energy drink waiting on his desk.
If Deuce forgot something, Ace would spend the entire walk complaining while secretly carrying it for him anyway.
If Epel got homesick, Ace would deliberately start the stupidest argument imaginable until Epel forgot why he was upset.
If Sebek overworked himself, Ace would loudly challenge him to cards just to force him to sit down.
If Grim wandered off...
Ace was always the first one shouting his name through the halls.
Even Ortho occasionally found tiny batteries or polishing cloths mysteriously left outside Ignihyde with a sticky note reading, "Robot maintenance stuff probably. -Ace."
They were almost never the correct supplies.
The thought still counted.
Ace wasn't good at looking after people.
Honestly, he was spectacularly bad at it.
His solutions rarely solved anything.
Half the time they created entirely new problems.
The other half somehow involved fruit.
But somewhere between the emergency watermelons, the necktie blanket, the emotional support pickle, the robot maintenance gifts, and his dramatic declarations of "I'm the eldest, trust me," everyone realized something.
Ace wasn't trying to be their mother.
He was acting like an older brother who had absolutely no idea what he was doing.
And somehow...
That made it even better.
"...Don't tell him this," Deuce muttered one evening as Ace loudly argued with a vending machine because it had "disrespected" him.
"But... it's kind of nice knowing he's around."
Jack nodded.
Epel smiled.
Even Sebek sighed.
"...He is an insufferable fool."
"I HEARD THAT!" Ace shouted from across the hallway.
Yuu looked over just in time to watch Ace somehow get his hand stuck inside the vending machine.

No one knew how.
Least of all Ace.
"...Should we help him?" Ortho asked.
Yuu watched Ace insist he could "totally wiggle it free."
"...Give him five minutes."

So random Idea I had, but it was basically about Riddle and Floyd becoming Ace unofficial parents. How did it happen? And Why did it happen? Who knows!
It’s just funny to me cause when you think about it, Riddle has full custody since Ace is part of Heartsbyrul. And Floyd only gets to see Ace during basketball practice. Mind you Riddle and Floyd were never together(yet) and therefore never in a divorce.
Not to mention Riddle is trying to put morals in Ace, while Floyd is teaching him the exact opposite.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand why people can get annoyed with him and why he tends to get picked on! I mean he is a jerk at times...but he is far from the worst character.
I have seen so many people hate on Ace for the dumbest reasons! The only valid reason I've actually seen for the hate is him ghosting his girlfriend, which is understandable, but at the same time he was a dumb middle school kid. So let's cut him a little slack, okay?
Yes, he was his moments where he's a jerk but literally everybody else does too. I mean they go to a school that idolizes villains, so they are going to be far from the best.
But to say Ace is the worst character because he's a ragebaiter (is that how you spell it?) and because he ghosted his ex-girlfriend... I'm just gonna assume you haven't played the game. Because literally all the overbloters had tried to 💀 somebody at some point.
Me personally, I don't hate any of the characters. I think they're all fun and complex in their own way.
I'm just so tired of seeing people hate Ace and dumbing his character down to be nothing but a loud mouth jerk. When it's been shown several times that he genuinely does care about his friends and just has a hard time expressing it.
If book seven doesn't show you how much of a sweetheart Ace is then I don't know what will 😔 he literally dreamed about going on vacation and having fun with all his friends 🥹

i have been seeing so much nerd!ace in middle school recently and i want to add delinquent deuce who used to bully ace until ace switched schools and moved towns which overall contributed to deuce changing as well
fast forward to NRC. Ace no longer wears glasses and he's loud and mean and deuce is trying to hard to be different but he doesn't recognise ace and ace is so hurt and so done
eventually deuce recognises him after his mother points him out by saying ‘oh I'm so happy you two made up’
it kicks deuce into gear and he is attached and clinging to ace 24/7 with no breath
OK so I had a new story idea for Ace! So let’s say Crowley decides to create a new school event where one student gets to experience what each dorm is like for like a month. And during that month, the student will be rotating between dorms every few days. Anyways, no one wants this AT ALL…no one wants to be chosen. Lo and behold, Ace Trappola is chosen, and let’s just say he is, uh not excited, to say the least.
The other first-years are a bit excited to have him in their dorms, though (despite how annoying he is, they still love him), but they’re not gonna openly admit that 💀. OH, and interestingly enough, Ramshackle is also included, and Yuu and Grim aren’t really that over-the-top about it because Ace has slept over at Ramshackle many times (so it’s not gonna be that different, but it’s nice to have more company nonetheless).
Anyways, he adapts extremely well in each dorm! Like in Savanaclaw, he and Jack are roommates, and while most wouldn’t think they get along as much, they actually do, which also leads to him getting closer to Ruggie. He annoys Leona enough with the other two that they also get closer.
"IM NOT CLOSE TO THAT DAMN PUP!" “Sure, Leona, SHISHISHI, whatever you say." Anyways, yeah, Jack actually liked having Ace in the dorm.
They each get up to many shenanigans together and also bother Leona as much as they can!

Moving into Octavinelle, Ace is already close to Floyd due to the basketball club, but the amount of shenanigans that occur during his time at Octavinelle is impressive. He fits right in with the strange trio! Azul and Jade were pleasantly surprised that Ace has a clever mouth and actually got someone to sign a contract with Azul (he only did it because he was bored and Floyd dared him), so let’s just say they got along swimmingly. So much so that they were reluctant to let him go. he also dormed with Azul this time because the first-years' dorms were full! Let’s just say that was…interesting for them BOTH…(also did you guys have a heart to heart..?)
Then we got Scarabia. Jamil and Ace actually do get along a bit because of the basketball club, but more in the "older brother exasperated but also taking any chances to tease his younger brother" way, and a younger brother who constantly annoys and begs for food. So yeah, they get along, and Kalim? Omg, Ace is surprised by how BRIGHT Kalim is, and they get along great. They even danced together during one of the parties. Ace also dormed with Kalim, which somehow led to them actually getting closer and opening up a bit. Ace also stole food in the middle of the night which earned him a smack on the head from Jamil.
Then we have Pomefiore. Now Epel and Ace are roommates. These two get up to so much shit, it’s crazy, and Vil might be getting gray hairs. Rook thinks this is great! Vil must say, though, that the baby potato is actually very quick to adapt to the lessons he teaches Epel (Ace was only there because Epel said he needed to get the “full” experience of Pomefiore [in reality, he wanted Ace to suffer with him]). It’s also good because Ace’s taunting motivated Epel to get better, because HELL NAH, he AINT losing to Ace. Rook becomes fond of Ace because Ace very, VERY reluctantly actually answers his questions and is at least a bit tolerant of his stalking? And Vil, despite what he says, actually does grow a bit fond of Ace as well (he will never admit that). Safe to say that these three also didn’t want him to go (Epel lwk is jealous of Deuce a bit cuz at least he can have fun with Ace despite, y'know, the whole collaring thing and Ace’s taunting sometimes. Man, Epel doesn't have a bestie in Pomefiore).
Then we have Ignihyde. Now Ortho was extremely excited to have Ace there! I mean, they're all full of introverts, and then there's Ortho. So Ortho and Ace both bother Idia WAY more and actually get him to go outside. Idia thinks they're way too overpowered with their extroverted energy, but he’s chill when they play games (despite what many think, Ace actually did get along with Idia by playing video games, watching movies, and criticizing them). He shared a room with Ortho, by the way. Ortho wished Ace was part of the dorm, and Idia reluctantly admits that it wouldn’t be bad if Ace comes more often…
“EEWW, THIS IS A FRIENDSHIP QUEST, ISNT IT, ORTHO?!"
Ok, and now we have Diasomnia. At first, Sebek was a bit loud, Ngl, but after he and Ace got into a few arguments (friendly, of course, because despite what some people think, Ace and Sebek do think of each other as friends, and since Book 7, Sebek has in fact calmed down a bit). Sebek and Ace ended up sharing a room, and let’s just say it was chaotic, to say the least.
Silver and Ace actually did eventually bond after Ace found Silver asleep in the fields and took pics of him because there were a bunch of animals surrounding him. That led to a whole thing because Ace wouldn’t stop laughing and Silver woke up confused, and then they started talking from there.
Lilia and Ace? Man, they're so mischievous! If Lilia alone was already pranking people, then Ace and Lilia are worse. They constantly try to one-up each other or tease others relentlessly! Although when Ace saw Lilia’s cooking he bolted for it. (IDGAF I’m not eating that shit Sebek?!)
Now, contrary to popular opinion, Malleus and Ace in fact did interact. Ace, despite being a bit scared of Malleus, has never been the type to shy away from speaking his mind. Anyways, they meet in the middle of the night, and Ace and Malleus somehow end up conversing. It was very awkward at first (on Ace’s end), but eventually, they started talking about their interests, and Malleus rambles on about gargoyles. Ace has a whole epiphany (*this dude is like so… normal??? Sort of, or well, as normal as a prince can be 😭 no wonder Yuu actually hangs out with him*), and that basically leads to nightly talks between the two. Malleus is also very pleasantly surprised and happy that a human is willing to talk to him (not even his own year-mates are willing to interact with him because of his status). Yeah, the Dia 4 definitely get more attached to Ace.
Last but not least, Ramshackle. Honestly, Yuu and Grim are already used to Ace, and the ghosts are too. So they lowkey are like very domestic and shit. Like watching movies together, cuddle piles, getting up and getting ready for school together. Yeah, honestly, they already are used to it!
Yeah, so when Ace returns to Heartslabyul, let’s just say that they have been waiting for him to come back. Also, during these times, the housewarden meetings still happen, and every time, some housewarden will say like how much trouble Ace is (BUT THEY'RE FOND ABOUT IT) and then add that they wouldn’t mind him being in their dorm. AND THE UPPERCLASSMEN AREN'T ANY BETTER, NOR ARE THE FIRST-YEARS!
The other upperclassmen just LOVE to mention Ace to Trey and Cater, and they’re like, “Uhhh, that’s OUR first-year, mind you.” And the other first-years would tease Deuce but also be lwk fr when they say that lwk Ace should come dorm with them or be in their dorm. Deuce did not realize how much his friends would like Ace dorming with them… (THAT'S ALSO HIS ROOMMATE, BY THE WAY!!!)
And Riddle? Yeah, he’s trying not to lose it! If one more—and he means ONE MORE—housewarden says that Ace should transfer, he’s going to kill someone. Heartslabyul is now lwk scared someone is gonna try to steal Ace from them. THEY'RE BLAMING EVERYTHING ON CROWLEY, THAT STUPID BIRD!
At first, some were amused until they weren’t. Anyways, this occurs after Book 7! Oh, and Ace? Yeah, no, he knows he got closer to some people but didn’t realize the impact. So he honestly underestimated how much they actually liked him. Yeah, let’s just say there are dorm wars going on over Ace, and he just remains oblivious!
Oh and then like a week after Ace settles back into his regular dorm with deuce and Heartslabyul, he is still mentioned a lot.
Basically there is a little(friendly) fight/banter among the first years about how much better Ace was in their dorms and how they were obvs the better duo(and deuce is like HELLO??? I’m legit the original???) and also heartslabyul is incredibly jealous and always state that Ace was better in their dorm whcih leads to the other dorms also talking about it during meetings saying that Ace was technically better in their dorms and how he would flourish more! And also the upperclassmens are also there during this meeting. oh and Yuu was also there, excluding the first years!
