Noticing a pattern at my work where kids aren’t excited for anything anymore. My high schoolers grad night was coming up and they were just talking about how mad they were about it bc of the wait time, early day, buses, ect. I remember when I was in HS and my friend group and I were so excited and happy about it like there was literally nothing better than that.

Also I went to disney recently and watched so many kids say they wanted to not go on the ride and just stay on their phones/ipads. Like the ride was boring ??? Like dawg what, you literally just waited in like for an hour and you don’t even wanna get on???

also I don't think parents "these days" are uniquely terrible, I just think neglect is showing up in new ways as technology progresses. today's ipad kid would've been wandering around in a ditch alone all day and night before. parents not wanting to have to deal with children is not a new phenomenon.

It’s just way more obvious to people now bc the kid is on a big bright screen with loud noises bothering people. Neglect and abuse was much more silent when there wasn’t a giant screen glued to these kids faces all day that made it an inconvenience to everyone around.
