Do you have any tips for scanning traditional art to digital and making sure the quality is alright/looks good?
I have talked about some tips in the past, and I am planning on making a video to go over my process, but as general advice:
Use a flatbed scanner; Some phones can have good image quality but the angle and shadow distortions are inevitable!
Know thy Scanner! All scanners have quirks and benefit from setting adjustments to compensate for low contrast, artifacts, over saturation, or faded colours.
My greatest 'traditional to digital art' hack: Adjusting values post scan. Duplicating and multiplying the scan as a 'layer' in an art program (fading opacity based on need) helps fix 90% of issues with the ink looking ‘washed out’.
Paper/media quality matters: Some paper and pencils/inks just scan better than others...
Colour: There will be transformations in colour upon scanning. There is no tip for this other than to experiment and prepare in advance!
I wrote one somewhat novel-length fanfic (64K words) from start to finish last year, and although I don’t expect it to be everyone’s cup of tea, I’d like to take some time here to talk about it.
Knot in My Backyard is an ABO/Mpreg Rolleigns fic I started one year from today on 5/7/2025 and finished 12/31/25. It’s the first multipart fic I’ve finished in over seven years, and the first serious mpreg fic I’ve written since... I don't even know. High school? (I usually only read them because I’m too chicken or too busy to write them.)
Something about Big Dog Roman Reigns being a pregnant Omega in a dystopian American Omegaverse rang so true to me that I followed a complicated, seemingly absurd project to a logical conclusion.

KIMBY is a work of fanfiction set in an alternate universe where America breaks down about ten years ahead of schedule, because a pandemic of A-gene, O-gene, and pregnant men is spreading, and all the world’s people need to adapt now.
The setting is World Wrestling Corporation, where rising superstar Roman Reigns is ordered to leave his faction, The Shield, because he presents as an Omega. The Boss (main antagonist) makes Roman sign his life away, basically owns him, so he can keep his job and protect Seth and Dean as well.
Sadly, The Boss engages in, let’s just say, violent quid pro quo with Roman, which is never shown graphically, but alluded to often enough that this is a Rape/Non-con fic that can be very triggering, a big reason I expect people to skip it, or only read it privately, or sparingly.
This isn’t light reading. This is reading intended to make people think deep and feel uncomfortable. I expect some people may dislike or avoid this fic and others like it on the grounds that, while mildly entertaining in some parts, making the readers feel pleasure is not the point.
KIMBY is not absent of humorous or pleasurable moments, though. A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, right? KIMBY just doesn’t ignore, sugarcoat, or sweep bad feelings under the rug. It sits in bad feelings and processes them. It allows ugliness to happen. It breathes raggedly. It goes to therapy. It hobbles forward, but it keeps going.
This work, by nature, is political at times, to paint a picture of an alternate universe, one where the dystopian setting is something eerily similar to, but not a one-to-one reflection, the US in 2025. Celebrities outside of WWE are rarely, if ever, mentioned.
Three characters are given euphemistic names: The Boss, Girlboss, and The Beast. Their names represent who they are as people and characters. They don't try to imitate any one specific person who may fit their roles. They're caricatures. Your imagination and their exaggerated gestures shape who and what they are.
Again, I don’t expect everyone to read this. Some people might even think it’s trash. I accept your feelings regardless of what they may be. This is art, art is subjective. I stand by what I wrote. It’s up to you if you want to read KIMBY or skip it but thank you for reading this blurb on blog if you got to know KIMBY this way. Cheers!
