Hey yall! Puri (or Arz if you prefer) here. I used to be silveratonement/draconicrider/etc. I'm relaunching on here as a multimuse for my OCs instead of a single blog with a whole bunch of sideblogs, after a year-long hiatus. I'm a novella-style writer who has been around the Pokémon RPC on tumblr on and off for the past ten years, and I really missed siccing my terrible children and their parties of funky daemons on the unsuspecting masses. Soooo, you know the drill, can yall give this post a like or a reblog if you want to play with my kids? I'd like to get the ball rolling with new threads soon~ Thanks a bunch, it's good to be back <3

Okay that was the kick to the butt I needed to get motivated. I'll be archiving this blog soon and remaking as a multi-OC one so I don't have to juggle sideblogs anymore. See yall around <3
On second thoughts, progressing Lorenz's status quo would kind of sand off his rough edges, wouldn't it. Giving him his dream and the adult responsabilities that come with an official, stable job definitely strikes me as not very interesting to roleplay with compared to the globetrotting mercenary trainer he has been all these years.
I'll keep these ideas in the oven for a while longer. Maybe go with an in-between where he's already blind and built some notoriety in the Indigo League but not one where he settled down yet.
You guys are very welcome to tell me what you think.
Cheers!
Been literally a year. I'm considering coming back here. Would you guys be interested if I moved Lorenz's timeline along to the time he's the new Gym Leader of Ecruteak?
Lorenz but in his 30s and not broke
Yes
Yes but not as his mainverse
No
Alright. It's not gonna be for right now but that is a lot more answers than I expected so I guess I should come back on here. Might also relaunch Ignacio while I'm at it.
Just gotta get some doodles done to give an idea of what these losers look like now.
<3 Missed you guys

I know I already made this exact post last year but: begging yall not to use Google Translate and to do the bare minimum research when writing Japanese text in your graphics.
It's almost humorous, how those with different backgrounds all flock to the same place. No matter the legality, everyone here has simply come with one single intention - To play a game. Ah, how relaxing it is to finally be able to throw everything up to chance... The gambler is in his element once more. Grimsley is supposed to be in recovery, at least, that's what a certain friend of his wants him to do, but what's one game, right? Besides, he's getting better, he's been gradually slowing down his game nights. He certainly hasn't been playing as much as he used to.
...If only Grimsley could actually throw everything to chance this time...
The hairs on the back of his neck raise, a subtle drop in temperature, there's something looming in the shadows... If Shauntal taught him anything, it would be not to turn his nose up at any signs of supernatural meddling. Dragons, is it hard not to chalk it all off to simply being paranoid, however.
What really confirms his suspicions, however, is when his Liepard lounging next to where he's seated slowly begins to sit up, now appearing alert. The large cat sniffs at the air, and then lightly sneezes, to which Grimsley simply briefly pets the cat's snout to calm her down with his free hand while he stays focused on the game. ...The cat simply flops back over.
Pokémon aren't usually allowed out during a game to avoid foul play unless proven that the creature has no capabilities of messing with the outcome of such. His Liepard can't help him cheat in any way that isn't obvious, but she does work as a body guard or good detector of anything else wrong with the room. As long as she stays well-behaved, which she's been proven to be so, the establishment allows her to be out. Plus, that cute feline face truly is difficult to deny. ...The perks of being charming.
He could try outing the culprit... But he doesn't want to cause a stir, and deniability is still plausible. It's already so difficult to find proper places where he can play poker with actual stakes in this region... Plus, the gambler can't exactly pinpoint who is the cheater right now at first glance. His hand is forced, the only call left here is to cheat at their own game. Grimsley resists the urge to tiredly sigh, he hasn't cheated at a game in a good while. The former Elite finds such things to be boring.
...But as the game progresses further and more people are forced to tap out, there's one that has remained with a pretty good streak of luck... This guy appears rather confident in his hand what with going all in, he's quite certain this one is the culprit. The Liepard has already been back to laying down and lounging as per usual, but the occasional moody flicks of that long tail portray her displeasement for not being allowed to attack the foreign presence in the room. The gambler is lucky Pokémon are allowed here to some extent, some places try to pat you down and kick you out if they find even one Pokéball on you. It can be quite the pain in the neck. If this were the case here, he'd be solely acting on a mere hunch.
It's quite nostalgic, the way it comes natural to Grimsley. The short work of sleight of hand movement and the stored cards in his yukata allow him to rig his hand into having an incredibly good match. ...An even higher straight flush. Nothing of his face indicates anything of his hand until it's revealed, and even still, his mask maintains its humility. There is nothing to be prideful of this win beyond that of being reminded that he's 'still got it' in the cheating scene. Once again, a bore, but at least he's got cash now, he supposes, so he keeps his cool about it.
As he finally finishes continuing the mask of good sportsmanship, it appears the suspected stranger is still tagging along with him... A ballsy move. The Liepard that gracefully walks alongside him begins to lowly grumble, before another gentle pet to the snout indicates for the Pokémon to relax once more.
"Quite lucky indeed~ You did as well, hm~?" Grimsley calmly speaks, but he can tell in the stranger's tone that there's more to it than that. He stops in his walk as well, turning to the other as the question is asked of him. "...Having troubles accepting the loss, it seems?" The gambler feigns a sigh, before lifting up his arms as the large oversized sleeves droop down. This only serves to push the cards back further down his yukata by means of gravity, though if he had manually pushed his sleeves up, the same would apply.
Fact is, Grimsley's wide sleeves are easy to look into for any cards, and the gambler takes account of that via hidden sewn compartments and attachments to help keep the illusion of emptiness.
Lorenz carefully watched as the other cheater rolled up his sleeves, trying to be attentive to any sign of foul play, of suspicious bulges in the fabric, of conveniently shaped bracelets and whatnot. But, at a glance, there really was nothing. If the cards were still on his person, and Lorenz knew they were, he probably had a more subtle way to conceal them.
Yeah, of course he wasn't going to find anything. Tonight's winner wouldn't have been so cooperative and nonchalant about his not so subtle accusation if he wasn't already certain he would get away with it. Lorenz knew enough about duplicitous scumbags, being one himself, to know this wasn't the revelry of someone with a clear conscience, but of one who knew nothing could be proven against them.
Lorenz didn't stare at those pale, bony arms for longer than he needed to, and even if he was pretty sure he had the guy beat in terms of raw physical strength, he wasn't desperate enough to forcefully shove him against a wall and start searching him himself; especially considering that would be a one way ticket to have his face turned into that fierce-looking Liepard's new scratching post, and the Dark-type would totally be right to do so.
When the Johtoite spoke again, there was some of that easygoing glee back in his tone, and none of the abrasiveness of his last request.
"Nah. I know when I'm beat. You're good."
(At both the game of cards, and the game of wit that he had already lost when he became aware of it. Surely he would follow his gist there.)
Lorenz simply took a step back and shrugged his shoulders, folding for the last time of the evening. They both knew what the other did at that table, but at least the wound to his pride didn't sting as much as the one dealt to his wallet. Another one of those gut hunches of his, maybe, but if there was one thing he felt the gambler didn't have for him, it was contempt.
Very calmly, Lorenz tapped the ground twice with his heel. Responding to the signal, his own shadow sprouted two squinting red eyes, along with large ears and dorsal spikes.
"Tell you what, I briefly considered challengin' you to a battle to at least make us even. But, well, even disregarding type effectiveness between our buddies, I'm certainly not dumb enough to pick a fight with a hotshot of your caliber without a full team."
Seconds later, a four feet tall, unusually fluffy Gengar was revealing himself to both the stranger and his Pokémon. He remained behind his trainer, his usual toothy grin flat. Someone was more of a sore loser than his master, it seemed.
"I spent like half the game wondering if you were the real deal or an especially uncanny lookalike, but I guess I got my answer. Not meaning anythin' by that, but I figured poker night at some speakeasy wouldn't really be the style of an international-class trainer... Fancy place for a vacation, yeah? The one region where your hobby's frowned upon?"
Why are you gay
"Chemicals in the tap water."
