i hate it when people mistake "etymology" with "entomology." like, i know where they coming from but it still bugs me
his dark materials will literally always work bc every small child wants an animal companion that loves you most and goes on adventures with you and every adult wants an animal companion that can shoulder some of life’s immense psychologically damage for you. and you can pet it
And to tear down the feeble corpse of God! Every kid and adult wants that also!
avatarsbalance's atla appreciation (9/??):
"Their spirit names are Tui and La, push and pull. And that has been the nature of their relationship for all time. [...] Tui and La, your moon and ocean, have always circled each other in an eternal dance. They balance each other, push and pull, life and death, good and evil, yin and yang."
I think the mistake that a lot of people make is assuming that the things that make them happy will make everyone else happy as well.
I really enjoy city living. I like being surrounded by buildings and parks, I like taking crowded public transit, I like the sounds of people moving around and going about their daily business outside my apartment window.
A lot of people in my family just assume that this kind of living will make me miserable. They assume that I’m talking crazy saying I’d like to raise kids in a city. My family is full of small town and rural people across the political spectrum. Conservatives living on ranches, anarcho-communists living on farming communes, socialists and liberals living in tiny little beach towns. And that slow quiet living makes them happy and cities make them miserable. So they assume that city living must also make me miserable.
But the small town or suburb life is what makes me miserable. I hate it. I want to be in a dense area with a lot of variety. I feel calmer when there’s more people living around me even if I am an introvert.
And me assuming that everyone must be happier in a city must also be bad. But there’s other city people who have the exact same stubborn attitude as my family but in reverse. Why would anyone like to live in a small town?
This applies to everything. I’m not just talking about city vs small town living here. Like I see people online acting like everyone would be happier if they had this morning routine, everyone would be happier if they used this organizational system, everyone would be happier if they lived on a commune, lived out of a van, lived in a giant house, lived in a tiny house, ate more fruit, ate less fruit, shaved, didn’t shave, became more religious, became less religious, drank more coffee, drank less coffee,
Like maybe you aren’t a perfect representation of every other human being on planet earth. Ever think of that? People have different wants and needs. I won’t be doing anything on the commune because I won’t be there. I’ll be on the subway and very happy to be there while you might be sunburned chucking bales of hay and be just as happy. And that’s great. Remember to wear your hat next time though.

Hi, I noticed your story has conflict in it, and I was wondering why you didn't just write people who are right doing everything correctly with a note saying "I enthusiastically co-sign everything in this story"? Must be some kind of mistake haha

So this is not a plea for money. This is something that surprised me, and chatting with people on discord, they were unaware of as well.
Discovered last year I couldn’t look at my 2015 MacBook Air without it triggering nausea and migraines, and figured the screen died. Have been getting by on my phone, but concluded I really need a laptop again.
Saved up, realised I could afford a brand new MacBook Neo, and got one.
-And I couldn’t spend more than five minutes looking at the screen without massive eye strain, nausea, vertigo, and if I pushed it, I-need-to-lie-down-in-a-dark-room-for-hours migraines.
Looking up MacBook and Eyestrain explained what is going on. The liquid retina displays that Apple currently has uses Pulse Width Modulation or PWM. In order to give the screens a deeper depth of colour and contrast, PWM flickers between several hundred to thousand times a second.
And there is currently no way to turn it off. There are settings and apps to reduce it, but there is no way to stop the screen from flickering. Checked Apple forums, called Apple Support, and the time I could look at the screen kept shrinking. Got the laptop Tuesday, returned it Friday, today is Sunday and I’m still dealing with a vertigo migraine.
For MacBooks, it seems to vary on the computer model and the software it uses. In retrospect, the issue with my MacBook Air started after a major software update.
And it’s not just an Apple thing. Current Windows and Android screens do the same thing. There’s even a Reddit for people who are sensitive to PWM flickers to help find computers and screens that won’t trigger eyestrain and headaches.
So, yeah. This week has been a learning experience. But for those who are prone to headaches and migraines, this may be something to be aware of, cause I was not.
That’s all folks! Junicorn goes out with a whimsical whinny~ If you’ve enjoyed my unicorn illustrations, they are all for sale in my shop! Go grab yourself a little pony of your very own if you like, but be warned, they are all incredibly high maintenance.

"I want my media to be historically accurate"
Cool, so you want natural fiber costumes with no/nuanced corset slander, people wearing colors, historical hairstyles, people wearing hats or headcoverings and long sleeves outside during the day, no potatoes or pumpkins in pre-columbian Europe, actors with textured skin and wrinkles, minimal makeup, consulting HEMA groups and weapons scholars for all the weapons and fight scenes, a good soundtrack that includes traditional instruments?
Oh, you mean you want 100% white people. Even in crowd scenes in port cities. There's a different word for that.
why are people not reblogging on the reblog site?
