Iâve been giving this a lot of thought, and Iâve decided that itâs time for me to leave the RP scene here.
Itâs been a wonderful six years, and Iâve had the privilege to write with some amazing people. Thank you all for the years of friendship and creativity.

âI really do.â Jonny smiled after he swallowed. He ate mostly in silence, just enjoying his meal and Karianâs quiet company. He felt a little bad for not being more talkative during dinner, but he really was starving. He already had more energy, and he was ready to go with Karian to buy groceries or a TV or whatever exactly they decided to get that night.
When Jonny swallowed his last curly fry, he flashed Karian an almost sheepish smile. Very much unaware of the mustard on his upper lip. âStill think âm hot?â He asked with a soft chuckle, slipping his hat back onto his head.
He let Jonny enjoy his meal quietly, smiling a little to himself. Jonny deserved at least this much after the night theyâd shared together. He made a mental note to pick up some extra groceries when they reached the store, hoping that Jonny would keep spending his nights at the house whenever possible. Karian laughed softly at the remark, reaching out to wipe away the stray dot of mustard before wiping his hands on a napkin.
âStill do,â he said with a grin. He was quite content with his own recent meal, and now that they were both fed, they could move on to their other projects for the night. âDid you want dessert or should I get the check?â
He couldnât imagine how Jonny could still be hungry after that, but he didnât mind staying a little longer. They still had a couple of hours before the stores started to close, and while he was eager to get back on the road, he wouldnât deny Jonny the little pleasures in life.

While he didnât quite play well with others of his own kind, heâd finally found a way to trust her, and their encounters usually ended pleasantly. Karian had stripped off his shirt as he watched her toying with the rope, his interest piqued, and his tongue slipped out to wet his lips. It wasnât often that he was willing to give up control, and part of him knew that heâd be tense once he was secured to the bed, but he was a master of his instincts.
âThat wasnât begging,â he said, flashing a grin. âYouâll have to work harder if you want to hear that.â Their banter was never malicious, and his tone was teasing as he spoke. âIâm not sure if you have it in you to get me to that point.â
It was a challenge if heâd ever issued one, and he followed her instructions as he settled back on the mattress. His boots were by the door, leaving him in only the jeans that hung low on his hips, and anticipation was starting to course through him as he watched her approach.

  itâs one of masonâs favorite party tricks : pretending not to know   english. it normally allows him to just relax on the couch, browsing   reddit on his phone. ( the way he likes to spend his parties. ) so when   heâs approached, he uses his usual: â ingen engelska ! â in a rather   apologetic tone. itâs to his surprise when heâs answered back in   sweedish. â wow, are you serious ? what are the odds. âÂ
He looked young enough to attend a party like this, even though he wasnât a fan of the noise. Karian made his way throughout the room, his hunt turning up empty as he realized that it would be almost impossible to catch someone alone. Green eyes scanned the room, finally settling on one individual seated away from the others, and silent footsteps brought him closer.
âDin accent Ă€r avstĂ€ngd,â he said, a hint of a grin finding his lips. Heâd been all over this world on various assignments, and a study of languages was something heâd picked up in his spare time. As the other spoke again, he let out a quiet breath of a laugh, motioning to the empty seat beside him. âMay I?â
It probably wouldnât take long to convince the stranger to go somewhere away from the crowd, and a few minutes would be all he needed to slake his thirst. Â

Jonny smiled at the soft kiss, kissing him back and pulling back with a blush on his cheeks. It had been only twenty-four hours, but he really was enjoying his time with Karian. He was unlike anyone he had ever met, and he made Jonny feel good. Protected, cared for. There was stability there that Jonny had never experienced, and he liked it so much already. He thanked the waitress as she brought him his food.
âJust keep those kisses stocked up and youâre fine.â He wrinkled his nose, picking up his burger and taking a bite. God it was good, and exactly what he needed too. He chewed happily, sighing in content. âFuck, I really needed this.â He confessed, laughing to himself.Â
Karian didnât often let people into his life. There were risks that came along with associating with him, and it took some time for him to trust almost anyone. He felt a connection with Jonny, though, and he wanted to hold on to it if he could. He laughed quietly at the request, nodding slightly, and he rested an elbow on the table as he watched him.
âI can do that,â he said. As Jonny ate, he fell silent for a moment. Part of him missed regular food. He hadnât had much opportunity to try what this world had to offer, but the smell of it was enticing. Not that heâd be able to taste or digest it, of course, but that burger looked great. âWell, you had quite the workout lately. Iâm sure your body needs a meal like this.â
He was looking forward to the evening out. He didnât want Jonny to think that he was just interested in sex. It was a nice way to share their time, but he wanted to know him better, too. Maybe later, heâd agree to watch a movie with him.

Rosie realized that she didnât quite know how social circle all that well. Maybe he had some other vampire associates that he talked with occasionally, but now that she thought about it, he was never really seen with any friends nor did he talk about many other people. She could only imagine how hard it was to actually develop friendships.
âI suppose you have to consider people who are okay with you being in and out of their lives,â She mused, giving a nonchalant shrug of her shoulders. âYouâre quite easy to be that way around. At first I was a bit afraid becauseâŠwell, I didnât know anything about you or what you could do, but now itâsâŠbusiness-like. Or like talking to an old friend. Iâm not afraid of you anymore.â
âThereâs that, but most humans arenât eager to get close to someone like me, and I donât exactly get along with most of my own kind.â Every now and then, loneliness crept in, but he shoved it down and buried himself in his projects. The murals on the walls were nearly complete, and he could always take a night out if he actually wanted to be around people.
He was reminded again of the nature of their agreement when she continued. Regardless of the fact that they were lounging comfortably on one of his sofas, this was a professional relationship. He could tell she was being honest with her thoughts, and he no longer caught any trace of fear when she was around him, but the line between personal and professional had blurred for him.
âWe know where we stand with each other,â he said, giving away nothing of his own inner musings. Perhaps he wanted more. She was easy to connect with, but changing their dynamic had risks. Still, the desire was there, gnawing at him as he listened to the steady beat of her heart. âMaybe I donât want it to be business-like. I enjoy your company, more than I should if weâre keeping this professional.â

It was a comfort to her that she could easily find herself leaning her head on his shoulder, water still clutched between fingers to keep herself from tapping them on her pale thigh. In situations like this, perhaps she would have been more nervous with anyone else, but he had always made her feel comfortable from the first time theyâd met and made this arrangement real. They were professional, but almost entirely informal when they were behind closed doors. It was refreshing to think of him as a good friend at this point.
âIâm sure your friends love when you delve outdoors once in awhile,â She said, leaning forward for a moment to place her glass on the coffee table. It took her a moment or two to think of an answer to his question that didnât sound totally pathetic. ââŠI donât know, I guess I just find it hard to find someone I can be at ease around? Iâve had enough disappointing sex and conversations in my life, itâs hard to get that out of my mind even when Iâm considering going on a date. I try to, but the idea of rejection or disappointment is always in the back of my head.â
Karian couldnât produce his own body heat, but he could enjoy hers as she leaned against him. Considering the premise of their relationship, it was a pleasant surprise that they were still able to share each otherâs company in such a casual manner. He listened to her words, considering them as she spoke, and he could understand her position on the matter.
âItâs funny that you think I have friends,â he laughed. âI suppose I have one or two, and my sister, but I keep a rather small circle. Itâs difficult to maintain relationships when Iâm almost constantly on the road. Thankfully, I have at least another year to relax before I should consider going back to work.â His last assignment had almost killed him, and he decided that his company owed him at least a few years off.
âYou seem to be at ease around me,â he pointed out. He fell silent when he realized what heâd said. He didnât want to push that idea. They had a good thing going here, and he didnât want to risk fucking it up just because he might have started seeing her as more than just a friend.

Rosie waited until heâd returned with the promised glass of water, clutching it with her slender fingers before moving to join him on the couch. She sipped from the water, pursing her lips in content over the cool liquid. Much needed after that much alcohol in those Long Islands. She barely registered the background noise, letting her heels slip off her feet as she brought them up to tuck under her legs on the couch.
She nearly choked on her water at his question. âwhat? No. No! It was not a date,â She assured him, shaking her head. âGod, no, I havenât been on a date inâŠliterally over two years. No. I just went out to have a drink and he bought my first one and we got to talking about work and I found out he works by me soâŠthat was pretty much the extent of it. I didnât go out with the intention of finding anyone or anything.â
His arm slid around her shoulders once more as she settled beside him, a position that he was quickly coming to enjoy. He couldnât resist a laugh at her reaction, but he was secretly pleased that it hadnât been what heâd suggested. Taking another sip from the bottle, he then set it down on the coffee table, shifting his weight a little bit for comfort.
âGood to know,â he said. âI donât date. Even though Iâm taking time off from work, finding someone who could deal with what I am, on top of my usual bullshit, would be too much of a challenge. Besides, I donât always play well with my own kind.â Karian had given up on finding a more permanent companion, resigning himself to a life of solitude except for the nights he shared with Rosie.
âAt least we have each other,â he joked. âI just needed to get out of the house for a little while. Every now and then, I just need to take the bike out and make an appearance in the city.â He still had associates in the city, one might even consider them friends, but the list of people he trusted was short. âWhy donât you date? Not that I mind, of course, but Iâm curious.â

The time seemed to fly by as they zoomed through the city streets and onto the highway. Rosie didnât ride motorcycles outside of Karianâs, so it was always a new adventure when she did. The wind whipped carelessly at her and it was quite cold even with the protected of her jacket, causing her to grip around him just a bit tighter for warmth. But soon enough they were at his house and she could breathe easy. No more fast bikes for awhile.
âIt wasnât bad no. There are other words I would call it, but not bad,â Rosie joked, laughing softly as she followed up up to the house. She shed herself of her jacket, enveloped in the comfort of his home. âHonestly Iâve had two Long Islands, I think Iâm good on the alcohol for the night.â It would negate and chances of him feeding from her too seeing as she was drunk, but she hoped that wouldnât be a problem for him. She somewhat wanted to prove she was more than just a bloodbag.
âWater it is, then,â he said, moving into the kitchen to fill a glass. He paused at the fridge to grab a dark bottle, similarly shaped to a beer, and then made his way into the living room. Offering her the glass, he dropped down onto one of the sofas, motioning for her to sit next to him.
Karian took a long pull from the bottle, letting the liquid ease the burn at the back of his throat. Heâd planned on hunting before heâd seen her, but he could manage his hunger well enough. He didnât have a television, so he turned on the radio for some background noise, keeping the volume low.
âSo, what brought you out tonight?â he asked, genuinely curious. âI didnât crash a date, did I?â The thought would have been humorous if not for the anger heâd felt when heâd seen her with Andrew earlier. âHe seemed nice enough.â

She found herself snorting with laughter as she shoved her phone and small clutch wallet into an inner pocket of her jacket for safe keeping. She grasped the helmet, pulling it down over her curly blonde hair to keep her head nice and safe. Their banter and flirting seemed to stay cordial, two adults pushing and pulling at the limits of their agreement. Rosie tried her best to be friendly, but sometimes the line was more blurry than intended.
âGo on then, drive real fast like you men do with your toys,â Rosie teased as she climbed onto the seat and wrapped her arms around his waist. She actually didnât prefer when he went as fast as a F1 driver butâŠshe wasnât in the position to complain. She could use the company for the night, even if it was just a conversation while she sobered up.Â
Once she was settled behind him, Karian backed out of the parking space and pulled onto the road. He could feel her warmth through his jacket, and he reveled in it as they reached the highway. While he drove fast, he was conscious of her presence, and he wouldnât drive recklessly. He made the trip in forty-five minutes, thanks to the small amount of traffic, and he headed up the long driveway to his house. Parking the bike, he killed the engine, turning his head to regard her as he flashed a grin.
âThere, that wasnât so bad, was it?â He waited for her to step off of the bike before standing as well, and his arm wrapped around her shoulders as he started towards the porch. A few seconds, and a code punched into the panel beside the door, and they were inside, the temperature warm enough to offset the chill of outside.
âMake yourself at home,â he said, hanging his jacket in the closet. âI have wine if you would like some.â

Rosie didnât often say no to his requests to go home with him. There were parts of her that simple craved interaction with another person, undead or otherwise, and didnât find it frequently in the hands of another. She wasnât antisocial, but like she mentioned, this going out thing was for the birds. She didnât feel like she belonged anywhere like this, among these people.
âSure, why not? It beats paying for another overpriced drink,â Rosie replied, shaking her head and heading off out into the night air with him. She wouldnât prod and ask if he met anyone out here tonight. It wasnât her business, and for all she knew he had arrangements with others that she wasnât aware of. âYou know I like the bike,â She told him, a bit of playfulness slipping back into her voice. âItâs always a smooth ride.â
He laughed quietly at her remark as they headed outside, and once in the parking lot, he swung a leg over his motorcycle. Flashing a grin, he offered her the helmet, and he couldnât resist a quip of his own.
âA smooth ride is nice, but it takes real talent to maneuver when things get rough.â He definitely had the impression that their banter bordered on flirting, but aside from buying her blood, they hadnât had any other intimate moments. Although, one could argue that those times were intimate enough. Part of him wondered if that could change.
Starting the engine, he revved it once before letting it quiet to a purr, and his gaze remained on her as he waited for her to climb on behind him. He could appreciate the time sheâd put into her appearance tonight; heâd gone for a simple t-shirt and jeans, but she was looking perfect.
âDonât forget to hold on tightly,â he said. âYou know I like to drive fast.â
I want to lick your pulse and make you wonder if Iâll bite.

Rosie was about ready to throw in the towel. She couldnât let seeing him on her night out affect her this much, but at this point she wanted to rub all of her makeup off and go pantsless in her apartment like she originally planned to. Fuck meeting other people, fuck paying ten bucks for a mixed drink. As she had nearly made up her mind to head for the door, she suddenly felt a strong hand on her shoulder, causing her to whip around.
ââŠYou donât need to apologize. I was justâŠtrying out this whole âgoing outâ business. Itâs not really for me,â She said, waiving her hand dismissively. âI used to do it a lot but I guess Iâm over it. No big deal.â
Wrapping an arm around her shoulders, he guided her towards the door. Perhaps there was a way to salvage the evening, preferably somewhere away from the noise of the bar. He nodded at her words, and to be honest, he wasnât a fan of spending the night out either. Karian much preferred the quiet solitude of his house.
âCome home with me?â he asked. It was unusual for him to invite her over, but he didnât want her to have to spend the rest of the night alone. If nothing else, sheâd have some company for a while. âItâs about an hourâs drive from here, but I wouldnât mind sharing some conversation if youâre interested.â
He felt better now that she was with him and away from someone else, and part of him hated himself for that. They had a mutually beneficial agreement, and being jealous wasnât part of the deal. Maybe heâd grown a soft spot for her, or maybe he wanted more than what they already had going for them.
âI brought the bike, if you donât mind the ride.â

Rosie could feel guilt starting to prickle at her skin. Even if he didnât mean to make her feel this way, it was not uncommon for her to do so anyway. Watching him back away, it was like she could feel a noise start to crawl up her throat. What if he went to find someone else to feed on? Would he do that? She was paid for this, after all. She didnât say anything, jaw tight as he walked off. She couldnât focus on her conversation with Andrew anymore. Anything interesting he might have said went completely over her head. She excused herself finally, but even when she looked about to find Karian, she couldnât seem to find him.
She felt funny. Almost a physical pain that stabbed at her now. It felt different than guilt. He had to be around here somewhere.
He walked past the woman heâd been eyeing from across the bar, tempted but still in control. Karian silently cursed himself for crashing Rosieâs evening. Yes, they had an arrangement, but she wasnât his property. For some reason, seeing her with someone else had set something off within him, and while he wasnât typically a jealous person, he could feel his muscles tensing whenever he thought of her with someone else, especially if that someone else made a move on her.
Stepping into the restroom, he was glad that it was empty; there was no one there to notice the lack of a reflection in the mirror as he splashed some cold water on his face. It was calming at least. After drying himself off, he headed back out into the bar, immediately glancing over to where heâd last seen her. Her companion was still there, but she wasnât. It didnât take long for him to find her, and he crossed the room to rest a hand on her shoulder.
âMy apologies for that,â he said. âIf you want to enjoy your evening, then you have every right to do so.â
